Love / Why do Polish girls think they are fat all the time? [42]

Again, cut it out with the generalizations. Just because you seen this with a few women, doesn't mean all of them think like that. For fucks sake, what is it with this forum and generalizing?

Life / Are Polish roads really this bad? [237]

Western Polands roads appear to be getting better, and by 2013 there should be much more motorways and roads of good quality. However, eastern Poland still has ****** roads, and construction has not even started over there.

News / What Poland can't do right [113]

Polish' fish is supposed to be the best

-Last time I checked, fish don't have ethnicities. Best seafood and fish I ever had was in Spanish cuisine

Polish Pizza too

-No...

Polish Beer

-Very good stuff, but I still prefer German and Czech beer. Less bitter.

Polish girls

-Polish girls are gorgeous, no doubt.

Polish Bread

-Polish bread is very tasty, but far from the best

Polish milk

-I tried milk in Germany, tastes exactly the same. Actually, all the milk I tried in Europe tastes the same. Probably because there is no preservatives in it, I don't know

Polish Scientists

-In the past, they had some well known scientists, but not in the present

Polish programmers

-Not sure about that one.

Polish strong men

-Apart from Pudzilla, I can't think of any other ones.

Polish immigrants

-Great! But there are good and bad immigrants from every country.

POlish hairdressers

-No clue

Food / Polish Pizza !! The best in the world? [329]

Italian pizza is the best pizza I ever tasted. Sorry, but Polish pizza is garbage. Also, Zapiekanka is an insult when it comes to pizza. No tomato sauce, and its just mushrooms, cheese and an assload of ketchup, smothered all over the bread. Sorry, but its nasty. Yes, I'm Polish, but I'm realistic. We are not the best in everything, and I'm not going to say that everything Polish is the best.

If you want real pizza, Italian, French, and Chicago/New York pizza is the way to go. Chicago deep dish pizza mmmmm :)

Life / How is red hair viewed in Poland [37]

I've seen many Polish women die their hair colour red-orange, and usually very short on the sides and taller on the top. It looks bad imo.

Life / Why Poles have so pro-emigration attitude? [66]

Its because the money is better elsewhere. its about time the government actually creates NEW jobs and starts paying everybody decent money. If not, then people will continue to leave.

Life / Why Poles have so pro-emigration attitude? [66]

I hope EURO 2012 will give Poland a better impression to people around the world. Unfortunately, I don't think Poland will ever be as big of a tourist attraction like France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Austria and other western European countries. The only famous attractions we have are Krakow and Zakopane, and even that isn't too well known.

Life / Why Poles have so pro-emigration attitude? [66]

I don't like calling Auschwitz a tourist attraction. But the thing is, how many people outside Poland know about Warmia-Mazury? We don't have anything, all we have to offer tourists is Krakow. One of the reasons as to why Western Europeans don't visit the Tatra's is because there is no point. They have the alps, which are bigger, better and more beautiful than the Tatra's. The Tatra's are only popular to the Polish and the Slovaks. krakow, however, is a gem :)

No, Slavs are blue people, like the Smurfs. Of course they are white. Stop asking stupid questions.

Life / European Capital of Culture 2016: Which Polish city do you wish to win? [42]

Poland and Spain both won the Capital of Culture for 2016. Which Polish city do you think should get it, and why?

The candidate cities include Bialystok, Bydgoszcz, Gdansk, Katowice, Lublin, Lodz, Poznan, Szczeczin, Torun, Warsaw and Wroclaw.

Me personally, I think Warsaw, Torun, Gdansk or Wroclaw will get the award :)

Life / European Capital of Culture 2016: Which Polish city do you wish to win? [42]

Now that I think about it, I think Torun and Gdansk are the best choices. Torun is a lovely medieval city untouched by the war, and Gdansk has a lot of history from the solidarity movement. I don't even know why Katowice even bothered. The place is just depressing and miserable. Its just an industrial gray city with little culture.

Life / European Capital of Culture 2016: Which Polish city do you wish to win? [42]

True. I think Poland should start renovation to many of the bloki mieszkalny. Many are very gray looking, and a new coat of paint and new windows makes a massive difference. I saw pictures of newly renovated Polish bloki, and with landscaping, paint and new windows, it gives Poland a better image. Not to mention it makes it look less depressing :)

Language / Is Polish amongst the best-sounding languages in the world? [123]

Not even close. Polish is not an ugly language, not at all. But it's not the most pleasant language to listen to. I often hear Czechs say Polish sounds like baby talk, and Polish say that Czech sounds like baby talk. After listening to both languages, I can honestly say both languages sound babyish, to an extent. The thing I can't stand about Polish is that it has too much cz, rz, sz, dz, and the different types of Z's. When one speaks the language quickly, thats all you hear. IMO, Polish sounds better when spoken slower.

Most beautiful languages apart from English, in my opinion, are

Italian
Spanish
Russian
Brazilian Portuguese

LOL, my Italian friends say the same thing! (about lack of vowels). But Italian is beautiful, and I love how they have hand gestures for everything hahaha! But Italians are some of the friendliest people I ever met.

Food / Polish grape-wine industry emerging? [26]

I don't think there will be a big industry. We have the best vodka out there, and our beer is great, but we can't make good wine. Poland simply doesn't have the right climate. Yes, some grapes can be grown, but the quality will not be good. Lets not kid ourselves, Polish wine sucks lol. France, Italy, Spain, Australia, and Chile make the best wines. The have the perfect climate to make it, and they have a long tradition in wine making.

gtspirit.com/2011/05/26/polish-arrinera-automotive-previews-supercar/

Did any of you guys check this car out? It's cool, but for ***** sake, couldn't it have been more original? It looks like a carbon copy of a Lamborghini, especially the outside.

Travel / Most beautiful small towns / villages of Poland [49]

Zamosc is a beautiful town, and zywiec is also very nice, right beside the mountains. Nowy Sacz may be a large town, but I think its a very colourful and bright town. Its one of the most beautiful large towns in Poland IMO, one of the reasons is because there are not that many ugly, gray, and depressing bloki mieszkalny all over the place, when you compare it to Lodz for example.

News / PKP buys Alstrom Pendolino trains for € 665 million [60]

Cool trains! It may seem pointless, but its a good future investment. When Poland does have high speed rail in the future, they will already have the fast trains that can reach 250 kmh. If they were to buy 60 slow trains, they would be pointless once the high speed tracks are built.

Food / What's your favorite Polish beer? [870]

What is your favorite beer?

What is your favorite beer? When I was in Poland a few weeks ago, I had a beer in Poland called Harnas, and it was great! You can't find it in Canada so I'm a bit disappointed. But the only good Polish beer IMO is Zywiec, Tyskie and Harnas. I think the best beer personally is from Germany, Czech, and Belgium. Can't beat their variety. But I hear Poland has some great micro-breweries, do you guys know of any?

You don't like German/Czech/Belgian beer?! =O So what beer do you like?

Me personally speaking, Poland makes THE best vodka, but the beer is generally average.

News / Will Poland ever host the Olympics? [18]

If the EURO 2012 is a big success, and I think it will be, I don't see why not. Poland will be more popular, and more likely to host the olympics. personally, I think Poland has a great chance to host the winter olympics. But, they can't do it alone. They have to co host it with Slovakia, and like emha said, Poprad and Zakopane could work. I went to the Tatra's a month ago. It was beautiful, but the Polish side alone is WAY too small. If you look at the previous hosts and their locations like France, Italy, Austria, Norway and Canada, their mountains are MASSIVE in comparison to Zakopane. Their spa towns and infrastructure in general are on a completely different level. So they only way I could see Poland hosting the winter games is if they co host with Slovakia/Poprad. With the Tatra mountains from both sides, it should be big enough to host.

Work / What jobs pay 10,000 zlotych per month? and Where can i find one? :o) [101]

Why the hell would you ever want to move back to Poland for good? No offense, but are you that thick headed? Yes, you may miss Poland, but you will NOT get the same quality of life as you will in Canada. If you go back to Poland, what guarantee is there that you will land a decent job, with benefits? Why would you move when your children are doing well in Canada, making friends and having a great education? Your children have way more of a future in Canada than in Poland. Be grateful that you live in Canada Dariusceg. I'm not only talking about money, but most things are better in Canada. Better economy, more employment/better wages, far better healthcare, better pension, good infrastructure, and some of the best universities in the world that your children can attend in the future. The only thing better about Poland IMO, is that you have cities that are over 800 years old, with lots of history, and beautiful ryneks, etc, but its not worth it to move back to Poland.

Travel / Whats your favourite Polish city and why? [132]

Krakow, for sure. One of the most beautiful cities in Europe IMO. The beautiful Wawel castle and cathedral on the hill is amazing, as well as the Cloth hall and the rynek, it was great! Beautiful city thats getting more popular every year.

USA, Canada / Why are Polish restaurants not successful in the USA? [698]

I'm Polish. I've been eating Polish food for my entire life, and I can tell you, most of the menu is NOT Polish food. I'm sorry, but the salads on that menu sound more like French food to me, and I've never had most of the stuff on that menu, and I've never heard of it either. The menu choices seem too fancy to be Polish food. Ricotta cheese, scallops, lamb and angel hair pasta with pesto is not Polish food. Real Polish food is bland, and lacks herbs and spices, and certainly isn't as fancy.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Polish food from time to time, but I can't eat it everyday. fact is, Polish food is not the best food in Europe. French, Italian, Spanish, Greek, and other mediterranean cuisine is miles ahead. They simply have more variety, herbs and spices, looks more appetizing, and tastes like heaven. Polish food is not bad, there are some good dishes. But like one poster said, most of it is just "ok", its too ordinary.

USA, Canada / Why are Polish restaurants not successful in the USA? [698]

The menu does have a few Polish things, no doubt. But Des Essientes, most of the stuff isn't Polish, period. Ricotta cheese with roasted lamb, salmon with dijon sauce, scallops and pesto pasta is not Polish. It sounds more like French food. My mom had a massive Polish cookbook at home, and its included with recipes passed from from generation to generation. I have never had any of that stuff from the warszawa restaurant menu, with the exception of a few things, like potato pancakes, pierogi and borsch.

History / Chance of Lwów once again became coming part of Poland [344]

Let's not forget that we are still -80000 sq km as a result of WW2.I want Poland at least 400000 sq km large and a 100 milions strong.

You sound like an ultranationalist nutcase, that deserves to be laughed at. fact is, the vast majority of people in Poland couldn't care less about the border issue. They are more focused on trying to make their own country a better place to live.
