that is seriously messed up. I hope you are able to track them down and have them pay. And I hope there's not more to it than that, and your girl is an innocent (you have to excuse me, I watch waay too much TV)

Love / My husband going to Poland after gotten his green card. Dreading his visit home to mom. [20]

So, is it "normal' for a married couple to spend 2 months vacations apart?
And two months?? Once you've grown up, the time spent with your mother pretty much consists of Christmas and Easter dinners (unless her roof colapsed or something), and that does not add up to even 2 weeks in 6 years. And that's assuming you bring your own wife and family, not just by yourself.

Even when married people are separated for work, it usually does not strengthen the marriage, let alone extended 'vacations'.
I would try to arrange vacations together, even if they are limited to one or two weeks. I'm not a great fan of institution of marriage, but at the minimum, to me it means spending the nights together.

It may be that you were with a polish girl, or it could have been that you were with a white girl.. not that either one is worse than the other, but

You're basically saying that Poles are racists.

I'm not saying anything. I just want the complete picture. Pakistani, Chineese, black? Really tall and good looking, or old and fat?
And another thing that bothers me about this: why would they think that they can get away with this crap??

Life / You are Polish if... [433]

Last couple of weeks I've been able to clean on Friday night after having couple of drinks. I don't drink all week, and if I manage to "drink responsibly" on Friday, then...I get very energetic. So after the beasts are asleep, I put the wireless headset on, and go crazy wiping the hole house down, sometimes re-arranging the furniture, cliping hedges in the moonlight... great fun! I sweat out the alcohol, and wake up next .. afternoon feeling pretty good, and to the clean house! Highly recommended.

It just pi$$es me of when somebody is victimized and they don't do anything about it. Granted, it's easiest to do nothing at all, but, what's doe is done - you are the victim, the first in line that should fight back!

you are shocked when you get nothing after asking for 'all exclusive' rather than 'all inclusive'

I don't know what that means.

Life / Why so many Poles use a second hands clothes? [110]

I don't know about socks, but US Army and Navy second hand stores are the sht for getting a pea coat and other winter gear for a quick trip up north. I even found one with a bullet hole!

My mother has a hobby, which could turn into a little side business. My and all my friends put in an order with her, of exactly an item we would like, and my mother finds goes and finds it in second hand stores within two days. She has gotten countless kitchen stuff, furniture, children's clothes. All used, many for a single dollar. I just can't get her to tag a higher markup, she's having way too much fun.

It is your duty to report it. It is the duty of anyone that saw it to report it as well. It may even be a law.

BTW are there good samaritan laws in England and Poland?

TIT: So, the fact that you bought something out of a box, (probably made in India) should fill you with great pride, as opposed to finding something well made, for much lower price?

Not me, personally, but my mother had orders for black work pants and other uniforms. They get washed! What, do you think the clothes carry spirits?

Lets not get crazy for the arguments sake. Nobody buys (or sells!) second hand underwear of socks. Unless they're 'performance' clothes :)

sorry to say but you are cheap and definitively not smart.

What bothers you is that those people using top of the line stuff which they bought used are messing with your inane need to stereotype. You can't tell if they bought it new, and spent the big bucks, or got it really cheap. Ain't that a b!tch!

To most it means that if you see somebody in danger, you have to do something. The actual law, IMO, is that if you screw up while trying to help, you cannot be sued. But it eliminates one of the reasons why a passerby would be reluctant to help. And it helps if you kicked attacker's ass!

Not in the UK.

Is there a law that if you see a crime being committed, you have to report it?

Oh, I get it, thanks. It's like making sure nobody's getting a better deal? LOL I guess that's Polish, but not exclusively.

I used to be shocked when I first came to US and would see women going out shopping with their hair curlers on. Now that's trashy.

I am not compatible with people with that sort of mindset and probably never will

That's ok, too. You're a snob and proud of it. I think being proud of it is an integral part of being a snob. My cousin is one, so I don't mind them.

My roasted red peppers never have a chance to make it into any recipes. I used them on salads, sandwiches, canapes.

News / More drug-drivers than drink-drivers in Poland [7]

you worry about pot smoking drivers?? Pick your battles carefully. I don't think those are so dangerous out there. The pill poppers scare the hell out of me.
