Life / Winter in Poland? [161]

a bit of snow and everything grindes to a hault!

It is strange that one. In Krakow as soon as the snow starts to lie on the ground an army of lil workers comes out of the blocks of flats and begins clearing it. Today it snowed and the whole community grinded to a stop :/

Work / Advice on Teaching English in Poland [709]

I am thinking CELTA in Krakow and then a mid size city. Biggest thing for me is community... ie a place to make a few friends and be able to earn enough Z after awhile to pay the bills.

I doubt it, There is so much competition in Krakow for jobs that the average wage for teachers is way below what you could get else where. Unless you have bags of experience then celta and other qualifications really dont push up your pay much.

Have you ever been to Poland? I think dress sense is one of the best things about the Poles.

Life / Polish plantlife and similar flora where you live. [81]

As you mentioned edible plants, I came across these in the fields near me not long ago.
There's so many great things to harvest out there that most people would just walk by.

Travel / Poland wildlife and similar wild life where you live. [240]

I think you might have solved it. As I cant see any other animal making those holes and by the looks of it making a nest. I've had woodpeckers in the garden before, and never noticed them nesting in the nest boxes, which I kept up high thinking cats ect could get them.

Travel / Ski and Snowboard - Poland 09/10 season (updated: 10/11 season) [84]

In the beginning it was turning I found hard, though a few crashes later I "learnt".
First time I done boarding was in high school on a school trip. The instructor was crazy and made a bet that one of us wouldn't dare go up a half pipe. So my mate did, right up over the top of it and broke his wrist :D

Babka

Hehe, I know its not the proper use, but its just stuck with me and ended up being my nickname for them..... just like the babka hats they wear :P

What really makes me mad is the fact that there are some neo-nazis in Poland!

I had a lesson once arguing with a class who were determined to tell me that black people couldn't be as educated as White people. Oh god.

what neo nazis you are talking about?!!!!!!!!
thos are kids from difficoult backgrounds, who has no future or had hard life.
they past 30 years they forgot nazi ******* go to work, marry have kids.ect

I don't know if you're being sarcastic, but if not im a little disturbed.
Have you ever been in some of the flats or walked around Kazimierz after hours? The flats are full of nazi wannabee's.

It takes more energy to frown than it does to smile so why frown?

Actually you use more muscles to smile than frown, maybe thats why us Scots are a nation of moaners ;)

It's the trams I hate. Getting on at a place like Hala Targowa is a nightmare. You are in competition with about 50 Old babka's to see who can barge who out of the way while attempting to secure a seat or at least a place to stand. Those babka's charge right through you as if not getting a seat on a crowded bus is the worst thing that can happen. What really gets my goat is that once they are on the tram, they start the whole "I'm old and dying" crap.

In the beginning I would always offer my seat to them, but after time I would ignore them out of my deep hatred for all babka's!

auck you know what I mean ;) LOL

You would say i have commited the biggest sin, changing from protestant to catholic just for the sake of getting hitched!!! Now if my family knew about that there would be an uproar! So better me sweeping that little thing under the Polish carpet ;):P
