Travel / Hard Candy - Krakow, Poland - reviews? [131]

Geeeez oh, I mind outting this place over 5 years ago! Can't believe it's still up to it's old tricks! Pmsl

Always check the reviews of places before heading out, that said I think only this place and two others were running the scam. It's a well shady place, owners are Slovakian I think.

News / Abortion still under control in Poland [2986]

It isnt life. life only starts when those cells make enough to think for themselves. It will always be and only be up to the mother to decide.

Poor you Greg, if not then I wouldn't have came all those years ago!

pawian
You may not have anything to say on the matter, but if the woman is of a decent kind then she would take in the impact it would have on you if she aborted.

Here are the rules for "gentlemen's clubs"

It's not a "gentlemen's club", it's just some shady bar.

Someone, in power, is getting their paws greased.

Most likely as the place has been reported to the authorities plenty enough times.

If folk stick to the decent places and go to bars which have been recommended by "normal" folk they won't get into trouble.

Avoid places like clubs saxon and hard candy. Both of which run these scams during the "tourist" seasons.

I still can't this place is still running this scam after all these years, or that people are still getting scammed by it. The place was stung by a couple of free-lance journalists when I lived there hence the articles.

Life / 200zl mandat and 3 points for not wearing seatbelts? [75]

Think Germany or UK and the way they just assume you have done something wrong/illegal.

No they didnt assume, they knew you had broken the law and punished you accordingly.

Reminds me of the time I was pulled in the UK for going TOO SLOW. On what basis?

Because you were a danger to other drivers?

Because only drunk men or criminals drive slowly when they see the police!!

Or yourself.

This whilst a murder, rape, robbery and mugging were all taking place around the corner (actually that's not true, but I'm sure we all get the point). I just hope we don't see the "send the shooting squad, a teenager's just stolen a Mars bar" mentality here.

Well done, attempt to turn a simple thing like not wearing a seatbelt and try to compare it to rape ect....
You broke the law, and u knew it whilst doing it. Suck it up and accept it. You have no god given right to be let off.

Love / Valentines Day & Polish men [130]

The day was first established by Pope Gelasius I in 496 AD by the RCC. Though doubt it had many of it's modern day practises. The RCC removed it from the calender in 1969.

Food / What do non-Poles think about eating the following Polish foods? [1410]

This could be a way of keeping Turkey out of the EU - make it illegal to consume doner kebabs except when sober ;)

In Krk the kebab of choice was Chicken.... how many chicken breasts went raw onto that spike.... god help me.

Reminds me of one story, my ex fiance took me out one night for a meal and we both got completely wasted. One way home after me unable to stop my hiccups and drunkeness i decided to buy a kebab. We ate it walking home and got in our bed nice and cosy. Next day she was up at the moment of dawn to go to work. It was raining outside. so she opened her umbrella only for my kebab to fall out and hit her on the head. She came back up to our flat and I thought she would go mental but to my surprise she couldnt stop laughing. One cos i was so drunk that walking home i stuck my kebab in her umbrella, and two that i had no idea that i spent 30 minutes in the local 24hr shop hiccuping trying to order beers and certain other things ;)

Nights like that really make me love Poland so much. It had nothing to do with living in Poland but just because it happened there....hell yeah :)

koszary is about 10 km from limanowa ( nearest town). its about an hour and a half south of krakow. it is surrounded by the beskid wyspowy mountains. am not talking himalayas here but i did get to try lots of food from farmers....i was happy bunny:)

I know it well, just not that name :)

I used to spend my NYE parties in Roznow and Nowy Sacz :)

Pam is probably a fan of Quorn products. I'm not saying that's good or bad, just sayin

I dont think she is, she is open to ideas and I bet if you were to show her exactly how veal is raised she would be happy to eat it. Plus I doubt really that she is that snobby about food. We all have our personal likes ;)

i love my meat...just wont eat veal on principle :)

I would suggest you should :). Well in the UK now anyway. In the past there were some shocking stories but nowadays it's great meat and the animals are treated just as well as any other. Even more so since they tend to have shorter lives. Many animals are killed at the point of birth, chickens being the greatest proportion and these days everyone should be doing their best not to waste food.

but i end up scraping all burnt bits off. you might as well be eating charcoal otherwise

You could say that. And to be honest it's not about "the food" that makes the whole bbq experience. Also most folk who host bbqs tend not to know how to cook on them. Key is to have different elevations from the heat source. That way you CAN cook the meat properly without burning anything.

IT IS BURNT FOOD lol!

the sausage is fine. Have you never eaten at a bbq?

that at other end of food scale you enjoy eating veal etc...:)

Why not? Is it better to just kill the animal and dump it? If it has been cared for properly then it is no different to eating lamb.

News / The Political Circus of Poland [306]

Pawian, PiS haven't been in power for the last few years so please tell me what they are, other than a group of people with a bunch of opinions just like you or I.

Snp had never been in power. The conservatives had been out of power for over 10 years. Pis are a bunch of god-loving, fear mongering, stuck in the past, babka hat winning old school toff. Once the elderly die out PiS will end.
