USA, Canada / Poles and Americans, what do you think, are we friends or enemies? [187]

If the Polish do not like the USA, why are there so many now living here, and many more still working on the move? This President does not care at all for Poland, or her fine people, but we the Americans do care. The Polish come here legal, and many others just walk over, and are given everything for free.

Genealogy / Looking for any and all information on Dabrowski/Dombrowski from Poland [87]

I have, without any luck tried each new idea, and am still looking. Please, if you have a new idea, I want to try it. I will not give up, this information is on my bucket list. I know you all know what a bucket list is. It is a list of things I must get done before, I kick the bucket, and pass away.

History / Poland provoked Germany to start WW2 by mobilising first [94]

I don't think Poland started any war with Germany, but this is my and many others thinking.
The Germans wanted the world, and many still do. They were, and still are, very unfair to Poland, with there thinking that they are better than Poland, and they are not even as good as Poland. Long live Poland, without any help from Germany.

But this is the way I think.

Also, Poland does not need the Euro money either, this will hurt Poland, if they change.

History / Poland - problem for Germany? (historically continual hostility of German state on Poland) [154]

Many old timers in Poland, I find, in my visit to Poland, still have a strong hate for Germany as well as Russia, and I can understand why. Plus I find, the Germans who travel, act as they are better than the rest of us. I have tried to befriend many a German traveler, and still find them to be hard to understand. I drive a German car, and have a German dog, but still, myself don't understand, why they act this way, to all.

Life / Calendar of Polish Name Days [36]

My birthday, and name's day are both the same, my name is Michael, and I was born on September 29th. also, this was my grandfather's name's day, and he had a big party going on when he heard of my birth, so he said, this would be my name, and my parents went along with it. But if I lived in Poland, now, I would be cheated out of one party.

Travel / Why does everyone seem to hate LOT Polish Airlines? [380]

I used Lot airlines a few times, out of Chicago to Warsaw, and they gave great service, good food, and lots of drink. They were also on time, or early, each time.

Now I have heard that they are owned by the Germans, is this true?

Love / Polish citizen in the UK: I made a mistake and now she won't forgive me, help! [57]

True love takes faith, on both parts, not just one. If she does not trust you, she could not be the one for you. But give her a chance to cool down, and send her, via regular mail, a nice long letter, saying that you are sorry, and never knew the photo's would get out. Ask for another chance. If she says no, move on. There are many more, who would trust you, I am sure.

Genealogy / THE MEANING AND RESEARCH OF MY POLISH LAST NAME, SURNAME? [4501]

What does Dabrowski or Dombrowski mean, and where would they have come from?
I was told my grandparents came from just south of Warsaw. Why would the name be changed to Dombrowski anyway?

History / When will you Poles give back German land and the cities which you robbed? [557]

If nobody told you two, the war is over, we won. Now leave it that way, unless the Dam Germans start to act up again. I think they learned a lesson with the last war. Now they just need to keep to themselves. I find, many people from Germany are the hardest to get along with, even more when I travel. They act like they are better than all the rest, and we know they are not, and in some cases, not even as good, as most.

Genealogy / I need help finding addresses in Warsaw. [11]

A few years ago, mid to late 90 to 97. I know if these people lived at the address shown for some time, neighbors would know of them, if they moved, and to where they moved.

Here in the USA we have what is called a Criss Cross Directory, where you can look up address, and get phone numbers. If a large building, you can find most of the people living in that building. If single family neighborhoods, you can find who live next door, or down the street. Does Poland have such a directory? If yes, who can use it, and where do you go to use it? Please advise, if you know.

Genealogy / I need help finding addresses in Warsaw. [11]

I sent the letter in English, since I don't speak, read, or understand Polish. And Yes I did put stamps on them. I found on my visits to Poland, many, many people speak English, more than speak Polish around here. I don't have any way of sending letters in Polish.

I would like some good ideas, not just jokes.

Genealogy / I need help finding addresses in Warsaw. [11]

Just a few weeks ago, we, my cousin and I, in searching into some of my Aunt things, who has been moved into a home, and has lost her sight. We found two names and address, in Warsaw, and we don't know if they were on which side of the family, my Aunt's married side, or her, name, same as mine, before marriage. I did send off letters last week, and am still awaiting reply. I know mail takes ten days each way. What is the best way to check if the address are still good, or if a change of address is on record? When can I check for this information? I have in the past, sent off request for help, to several places in Poland, and never got any reply. Why could this be?

What ideas do you have that can help me on this.

Looking for information on my Grandparents, Dabrowski/Donbrowski

I have been searching for any and all information on my Grandparents, Ferdynand and Maryanna Dabrowski/Donbrowski, who passed away well living in Gary, Indiana, in 1954.

They I am told, came from Poland after 1900, but don't have a correct date. They, again, I am told came from some small villages just south of Warsaw.

Are there any Dabrowski/Dombrowski out there who can help, or anyone with some new ideas to try. I have tried everything I could find.

Grandmother had family in the area of Detroit, Michigan, with you prior to marriage, name, Grabowski.
I am open to any new ideas. Please try and help me, since my Grandparents passed away when I was just young, and they spoke broken English, and I no Polish.

I have tried on two visit, to Poland, to check church records, and was told that they did not have anything.
I hope to see your help soon, since I am not getting any younger, and want to pass this infrormation on to my children and grandchildren, so day.

This could be great information, if I could read it. It is in Polish, and I can't read Polish.

What does it say? Is there a way to get this in English?

Thank you for your time on this.

Mike

Babylon,

Do you know of a site, like the last one you sent in English?

Genealogy / Looking for any and all information on Dabrowski/Dombrowski from Poland [87]

In my visits to Poland, I only came across a few people with my name, going all over Poland, and checking phone books.

My Grandparents came from near Warsaw, my grandfather came from Broszka, and was born May 30, 1875, and grandmother came from Piotrowice, and was born July 10, 1887.

When on one of my trips to Poland, I did check all the church's around these areas, and was told by the Priest, they had no record, and either, the records were burnt in fires, or just missing.

I have been looking for several years, and tried on a few visits without any luck so far.

Mike Dabrowski

Hi,

I only have a bit of information on my grandparents, but if you can help.

Grandfather, Ferdynand Dabrowski/Dombrowski born May 30, 1875 in Broszka, Poland, passed away Dec. 14, 1954, Gary, Indiana

Grandmother, Maryanna Dabrowski/Dombrowski, could be M/N Grabowski, born July 10m 1887 in Piotrowice, Poland, passed away August 1, 1954, Gary, Indiana.

This is all I have, I have both death records, but does not show place of birth of parents information.
