News / What Poland can't do right [113]

You Men says Polish women are dress well. I don't think so, these ladies dresses properly in office, hospital or night club or Cafe too. No underwear.

Hey, look at the bright side, atleast some of us will know how to seperate the horny ones from the frigid ones.

If I dressed like that, my boss will send me home to change my clothes.

I know I wouldn't. (I like bad behaviour, and I think it needs to be rewarded more often!)

Other co-workers were send back home to change their clothes.

I guess he's either Gay, a Catholic, or a woman-hater?

;P

I'm so serious today.

Love / Insultive opinions about Polish girls... [139]

Aso,

Aha!

;P

but people's personality traits stay the same no matter where you come from.

So what you're basically saying is, we're all screwed?

You guys here, are just horrible (with some exceptions of course).

Hey, we aim to please!

Krystal is an example of lady like behavior,

..which makes it more fun to see if she can turn into a bad girl.

;)

What is wrong with no underwear?(unless there is no razor)

I don't mind a bit of hair really. It does tickle though!

;P

Boy oh boy oh boy, are we a serious bunch today!

As for your question, I think it's obvious what I've been saying. The personality does not depend on nationality.

I guess you have a serious personality then.

;)

Are you confident with your self? If you were, I don't think you would have such insecurities...

I have a secret to share with you, most women say these things about other women. (It's cute, really! That way, we know she's looking for something.)

;)

..and guess what? It looks like you're doing it too!

Not me. If a woman is smart, attractive, etc., I don't have a problem with them. Why do I need to put them down?

Oh, those are my thoughts exactly!

What validation or praise for her own qualities? I don't fish for compliments

It's cute. Why would a woman want to blow her own trumpet? You girls hate it when a man does that, right? (So why should guys feel any different?)

And what pretell..might that be?

*whistles innocently*

Don't worry, I just like messing with you girls!

Some of these girls came from (i don't want to sound too derogatory) the wilder sort of families.

I don't think there's any shame in being the wilder sort really.

But many of these girls are on the extreme side of Polish culture.

Hey, where would the world be without them? Just imagine everyone being reserved, always political correct and ultra-decent? (I don't know about you, but I'm happy the Victorian days are over!) It would be a boring world really..

Love / English girl. Do Polish men afraid to show their feelings or they are just not comfortable in UK? [84]

I saw something about knife crime in the UK yesterday. They've caught three guys on a security camera, in South East London I believe.

On the tape, you could see how one of these guys just walks by, and for no good reason he swings and punches a younger guy on the back of his head, and one of his friends immediately draws a knife and starts stabbing the guy's friend in his chest for no good reason. He turns around, and stabs the guy who got punched on his head (Who was on his knees already, because the other two guys were basically kicking his head in!) in his chest two times, the guy falls over, and then he stabs him in the back two times. These guys then get into their car, and drive away like nothing happened.

These two guys didn't do anything to provoke them, and they were just talking to eachother, not expecting any of this. Apparantly, they were just waiting for one of the guy's sister to pick them up.

The guy who stabbed these guys only got fifteen years. (Oh, and before you blame the foreigners, the guy who stabbed them up was white, and English.) The other two guys only got five years. I'd say lock all three of them up for life?

Work / Why is Polish workmanship so bad? [52]

Well, it's usually the stories like these that make me really glad I'm able to fix everything myself. I think one thing is true though, if you really are looking for quality, you should also be prepared to pay for it.

I'm sorry, but this situation in society is what you'll get when you don't really appreciate proper craftmanship.

Moral of the story: Don't be stingy people!

News / Freezing weather in Poland, 42 people dead in winter freeze... and no-one cares? [140]

I know its unfashionable but does that not concern anyone else?

I've got a better question, does it concern you? I mean to say, if you see a homeless guy or girl.. Would you offer that person a place for the night? (I know you can't help the whole world, but you can start in your own community if necessary!)

We are prepared to throw inordinate sums of cash on Euro2012 and countless European projects, but we cant manage to get homeless people off the streets a week before Christmas?

I share your sentiments. Some people actually have billions on their private bank accounts, and they keep everything to themselves, while people who had some bad luck (And those people could've been you and me aswell!) die outside because they're an inconvenience to society?

In Russia, I accept this. The state doesnt care. But Poland? Why people must die?

If it was up to me, I wouldn't accept this anywhere. People are people, and they should be treated as such.

42 people die in an accident and it would be a day of mourning.. these people will barely get a centimetres of newsprint...

That's because in this wonderful society of ours, someone doesn't count when he or she doesn't generate wealth for the people who already have millions. I'm sure these people can see reason? I'm sure they're able to understand that they will easily make it through another winter with a little less money? I mean, what does it matter? You have 5 million today, and maybe you'll have 4,9 million tomorrow. (Either way, you'll have more than enough?)

I mean, saving another person's life is priceless? I don't know how many rich people read things on the internet, but it's always worth a shot. I mean, I can make a difference for maybe one or two persons, but I know some people could literally save half the globe with the money and the resources they have.

My opinion? If we as all people, want to call this society of ours civilized, together we should make damn sure poverty doesn't exist anymore. For no one, regardless who's fault it is, or was..

That's my Christmas wish.

:)

News / Freezing weather in Poland, 42 people dead in winter freeze... and no-one cares? [140]

Sometimes I wonder if everyone has been around homeless people in big cities.

I've talked to a lot of homeless guys, and only a few homeless girls. For some reason it seems guys are more likely to end up homeless? Maybe this has to do something with broken relationships? Social repression? Regardless, I know most homeless people have some kind of a trauma, or just a lot of bad luck!

Did you know some homeless absolutely REFUSE to go to shelters? You cannot make someone go to a shelter who absolutely won't go.

Some would, that much is true. But I keep hearing the exact same comment over and over, and if you ask me, I think it's a weak excuse not to help the ones who wouldn't refuse.

Volunteers from shelters will go out and tell everyone about the shelter and hand out brouchures so people will know it's there and some people would rather just stay on the streets. I've seen it. Some people live in homeless camps with tents and everything and would rather be there than in a shelter.

I've seen succesful moviestars who used to be homeless. I've seen a girl write a best-seller who used to be homeless. You have no idea how many people actually end up homeless each year, and most of these people are perfectly sane. Stress and problems can turn someone into a proper mess, and if there's no one around to help at that time, it's too easy to lose everything.

Getting back on your own two feet is much harder, trust me. They won't allow you to work, because you have no address. They won't allow you to open a bank account, because you have no work. It's a downward spiral, even for people who are perfectly sane, strong and capable. (Don't ever make the mistake of thinking these people are too lazy too work.)

Most of them are people like you and me, the only difference is, they didn't have anyone who cared when they got into trouble. Some have mental problems, and some have been beaten, threatened and chased off by people so many times, they don't really trust people anymore. Some of them are much like hunted animals.

I gave a homeless guy 50 € just a few months ago. He walked by, and after a few moments he asked me if I had something to spare. I said: Ofcourse man. I didn't look in my wallet earlier, and I thought I had some small money. I didn't. I only had 50 €. So I gave him that.

Everyone was staring at me like I was crazy. (A girl who saw it smiled though!) Anyway, some people said: What are you doing? He'll only buy drugs! I said: He doesn't look like a junkie to me. He couldn't believe his eyes, and thanked me a few times. I said: Just go on and buy something for yourself.

I stood there, and the guy couldn't believe I gave him that. He had tears in his eyes, and I watched him cross the street, go into a shop across the road, and he came out with a bottle of mineral water, a whole bread, a toothbrush, a packadge of cigarettes, (Hey, I don't blame him, I sometimes smoke!) and some meat. He came back to me and he wanted to talk a little. He said he had mental problems, and I told him I've had them myself. I told him a few things about myself. I told him he could either do nothing, and ask for money to someone else, because I wouldn't give him anymore if he didn't do something. I told him he was too young to give up so easily. I said: Look at me, I'm just a normal guy, who had some problems, like you have now. I said: You can come out of this if you really want to. I friendly pointed out that the other homeless guy across the street was beyond help, and that it didn't have to be that way for him. I said: You might have some problems, but you seem sensible enough. I gave him advice, and told him about a center for cases like him. He listened.

He promised me that he was going to use the rest of the money to go to Amsterdam to look for help. (I remember I was thinking: I don't believe a word of it, but I hope I made your evening!) Guess what? I contacted the center, and actually checked on him a few days ago.

He's doing much better now. He's recieving mental care. You know what he said? I gave him something he didn't expect. He thought everything in this world was rotten. He didn't trust anyone. I showed him some people actually want to help. I showed him not everyone is selfish. I showed him I was just like him. I gave him trust, and I gave him hope. I restored some of his trust. Enough trust to look for help.

He's doing a course now. He's going to be a mason. The guy was only one year younger than me. He also told me that if there was anything he could ever do for me, I would only have to ask.

I told him; You're already doing something for me. You're alive, and you've done exactly what you said you would do, and now you're about to make yourself useful again, and I know you will help someone else when he or she asks you.

The guy was baffled. I just smiled, asked him for a cigarette, and I walked off. I feel happy about doing this. Yes, I'm crazy, I helped someone who reluctantly asked me. I'm such a softie. I'm such a weakling. I didn't give it to him just like that though, I told him to tell me a bit of his story first, and while he was doing that I observed him a little.

He didn't smell, he looked as if he had only been homeless for a few weeks, (Most of his clothes were intact, if a bit dirty!) He didn't have a yellowish or pale grey skin, (Drug addict!) and he didn't smell of alcohol or weed. Worst of all, he was well-spoken, Dutch, blonde, and had blue eyes. Just like me. He made sense.

This is not a ******** story. It's what happened. So don't just give someone a bit of money, listen to someone's story first. Give someone advice if you think it might help. Restore some of his or her dignity. Give him or her a bit of hope. Show him or her that he or she matters. It matters a great deal. Regardless of who's fault or shortcoming it is, he or she is a human being, just like you.

I won't lie, I felt really stupid for giving him that much at first, but I'm happy for it now.

:)

What would you do when confronted by that reaction?

I'd ask him why, and I know I would try to take him seriously.

he says i saved his life , i doubt thats true , but i like to think i gave him a hand....

Hey, you'd be surprised about how much a simple friendly gesture can change for such people. You did more than me Wildrover, I just gave him money. It's good to know some people care.

That's reality of the chronically homeless.

Which are only a few out of thousands of people who aren't. I hope you'll always remember that.

:)

Typical of goverments - look out for the upper, middle classes and themselves and to hell with the not so well off!

I wouldn't say everyone in the government thinks like that, but I know many who are too selfish to carry any responsibility for others. (Isn't that exactly why some people should get into politics?) It's a good thing some people realize they have a chance to do something for all the people out there in their positions, otherwise it would've been much worse than it is today.

Wrong G, nobody choses to sleep on the streets or to become an alcoholic.

Exactly my thoughts.

I got my house at 19, done many college and university courses, worked my ass off as well - trying to basically find my own feet! eventually got there!

I couldn't PM you, so I'm sorry if this a bit off-topic, but I've got a question for you. (Feel free to PM me!) How did you finance your study? (See, I'm still working my ass off and I really, really, really want to go to college.)

If you are in a city like NYC, that's hundreds of people. All of them are exposed to the elements, so it's not safe for them, but, they choose to live that way.

Yes, and thousands of other homeless people who are also exposed to the elements, who simply do not choose to live that way.

I could show you something about a special newspaper we have in Holland. It's called the ''Daklozenkrant''. (The Homeless Newspaper.)

You can buy these of homeless people who are standing in crowded areas. (Such as the entrance of the shopping mall!) By buying a newspaper from them, you're actually helping them. I think this newspaper is pretty interesting, because you get to read articles about social care, and even the life stories of all kinds of people who have been homeless. (That's how I know that even moviestars and other succesful people here actually have been homeless once.)

I know the actual figures in my country, and I know only a few really choose to live that way. (I think people really aren't *that* much different overseas?)

Oh, I hear you, and I've acknowledged that twice now. However, I will keep stressing that the chronically homeless, as you would call them, really are the minority amongst all the people who are basically condemned to sleeping outside. Why is this so hard for you to simply acknowledge? I don't mean to upset anyone, or to worry anyone, but it could happen to you and me aswell.

;)

I know I would like the idea of help and care, should something like that ever happen to me. Wouldn't you?

Because, that's not been my experience.

I will simply point out that you're sounding like someone who will use the extreme examples as an excuse not to help the less extreme examples.

My experience has been, people who really don't want to be homeless find a way into housing of some kind, while people who are sorta antisocial or don't want help are the ones who end up on the street and stay there.

Ofcourse, all of these people like freezing to death. All of them choose to lose their jobs. They choose to experience a trauma. They choose to be anti-social when they've lost their whole family in a car-crash. Ofcourse it's all their fault, because everyone should be able to deal with everything like you would.

You want people to feel guilty like it's everyone's fault,

No, I just want people to know that not everyone chooses to be homeless, and that not every homeless person is a junkie, a psycho, anti-social, or an alcoholic. I know I can't save the whole world, and I know you can't save the whole world. I'm not telling anyone it's their fault.

but the truth is, the chronically homeless have to be the ones who say they are tired of living that way, they will make the changes necessary to find housing, even if it means changing their lifestyle.

They won't let you open a bank account when you have no address. They won't take you for a job when you have no address. Etcetera. It can be a vicious circle sometimes, no matter how smart, how motivated, or how much of a strong-willed person you are. I'm not blaming you or anyone else personally for the situation of these people.

In NYC, the post office will give homeless people a PO box address to get their mail.

*sigh*

You'll need a social number, an I.D. card and a telephone number aswell. These days, you might even need an e-mail address in some cases! To keep it short, you'll need some advice, you'll need some information, you'll need some guidance, and you'll need some help to actually get these things done.

Oh, and ofcourse you're not going to be the only homeless person out there, so unless you're the Queen of Spain your case won't have any priority, which ofcourse means that you'll have to wait..

;)

News / Freezing weather in Poland, 42 people dead in winter freeze... and no-one cares? [140]

Arien, you have a very unrealistic view of the homeless.

Oh really?

I remember standing there in the ABN AMRO bank in Schagen, when a homeless guy tried to open up a bank account, and I overheard the whole conversation from beginning to end, and basically, the woman behind the desk told him it was impossible for him to open up a bank account.

I remember being at the job centre a lot of times, looking for a job myself, and I remember a woman behind the desk finding it extremely funny that there were no jobs available for me at that time, and that I couldn't apply for wellfare. ''Too bad'', she said with a smile on her face.

I remember conversations with employers who told me they didn't have any jobs available at the moment, but I could see Polish people working at the very same company from out of my ******* window on the way back, or seeing an awful lot of cars with both Ukranian and Portuguese license plates outside!

I remember going out in Amsterdam, when a prostitute near Centraal asked me to call her mother for her, and if I could please pay for her ticket back home. (She was practically begging me!) I didn't have the money for her ticket, and I couldn't call her mother because she couldn't tell me the number. I told her to hop on the train, I said **** that ticket, and I'll make sure nobody will tell you to get off the train. She didn't want to come with me, because she didn't trust me.

Oh, and I remember staring at a gun in my face more than once, because you're right, not all the poor guys are begging or asking for it nicely!

I know there are programs, but it's not like this system or its personel will always be extremely helpful to you. (Quite the contrary!) Oh, and in some cases, you will have to take medication. (Which is very hard for people who don't have enough trust in people anymore!) Ofcourse you have the right to refuse medication, but if you refuse, they won't help you.

Civilians? Quite a few people will probably humiliate you, harrass you, or even worse.. I know that there are people out there who would even kill you when they think no one's looking. (Just like some soldiers from our army who were caught on tape when they were kicking a beggar to death, just for the hell of it!) I wonder what would've happened to these soldiers if they weren't caught on tape. Actually, I already know, they would've got on with their lives like nothing ever happened.

Glasses? I can see perfectly. Thanks.

That and Christmas movies will make you forget you wearing a rose colored glasses.

I've seen more **** than you ever will, and I've been humiliated by a lot of people myself, when all I really wanted was a job. Ofcourse, a lot of people will simply point out how lazy and worthless you are, but they don't really want to hear about all these employers who prefer foreigner workers because they're much cheaper, and because they know how to keep their mouth shut about their rights. (I call it modern-day slavery!) I guess that's also too hard to believe for you?

Go find some homeless people and meet them.

I won't even answer that.

Not for a minute do I believe your story about running across a sober, sane, homeless man

A guy, one year younger than me. I've met him on a Friday evening, just before 20:00 on Alkmaar Centraal. He was talking to himself, but he was sane enough. He told me that he had recieved mental care before, but according to him the medicines they gave him just made him worse. Why I say he was sane enough, is because he was completely aware of the fact that he had mental problems, and that he needed help. At first he seemed reluctant and perhaps even scared to talk to me, and he said he thought I would beat him up for a moment. (Which just shows you how these people get treated more often than not!)

that "did not smell" and bought coldcuts with your money while you walked away smiling and his life was changed forever... not for a minute.

I don't think he had been homeless that long really. His shoes were pretty new, and so were the rest of his clothes. (Just a bit dirty!) He wasn't drunk, and he wasn't a junkie. (I've seen enough junkies and alcoholics before, so I can tell the difference.) Oh, and about 20 people were there, some girls have seen me do it, and they've also seen how he walked across the street and bought exactly what I told you he bought.

But according to you, that's impossible. They all buy drugs, right? Oh, and the day I walked off was the day I've met him again. I've asked him for a cigarette on purpose, because I wanted to restore his sense of dignity.

By all means, keep telling yourself they're all chronically homeless if it makes you any happier, and please keep telling everyone how they're all junkies who are beyond help. I know there are a lot of people who are beyond help thank you very much, and I'm not a retard who believes everybody smells of roses, but I know that most homeless people will try anything to get off the street, and most of them actually succeed!

daklozenkrant.nl

I know you can't read it, but this is one of the magazines I've told you about earlier, that homeless people sell on the streets everywhere. In these papers, you can read all kinds of stories about homeless people who went to rehab, who gave up drinking, about people who had mental problems who went for help, women who got out of prostitution, etcetera! I buy these papers and magazines from homeless people regularly.

Boring, I know.

People make the "will work for food" signs because where I live, asking for money is illegal.

Which just shows you in what kind of society some of us really live in. It's illegal to ask for money. It's illegal to help someone. You'll have to excuse me, but I think it's really sad that so many people accept such rules.

So, you see, you do have to be careful. You shouldn't let your guard down. Not everyone can or should be trusted.

Ofcourse, you're absolutely right about that.

Just don't make it a competition about who's doing more for the 'downtrotten".

Hey, nobody's trying to turn this into a competition sweetheart, but I certainly wouldn't mind it if all of us would make it a sport to help someone else.

No one can match my own gullibility, and I do put my money where my mouth is.

Love / Polish blonde and a British pensioner. No fool like an old fool, or is it love. [57]

most of guys here on the forum would love to be in his position.

No thank you. (I really wouldn't!)

27 and riches are rare.

Not really, but then again, it all depends on your definition of rich. I think couples who are young and healthy, who can afford to buy a house together, who are able to support their children together, and who can afford to go on a holiday atleast twice a year should consider themselves rich really.

Off-Topic / PF - The Omnibus Edition [1502]

A very Merry X-mas and Happy New Year,
With adventure, love and a dash of cold beer.

I've had the first thing you've mentioned, I will probably never experience the second you've mentioned, and I guess I will have to leave the rest of that sentence to the better people aswell.

So much has happened these 365 days past,
I don't know where to start, I hope it won't last.

I can't say I can say the same.

Lets hope that everyone has peace this year,
That families reunite and not live in fear.

Hmm.. Alright, I'll toast to that!

Matters not if it's karp, turkey or just a microwave meal,
So long as friends and family are making the deal,

It actually does matter, because I'm allergic to spicy food. (Seriously!)

And so another year's almost up,
To this we should all raise a cup!

I'll toast to that one aswell! (It's probably just me, but why do I already have the feeling I'll be drunk after reading this whole poem?)

A precious princess was brought into this world,
As our hearts, they did melt, when we saw this little girl.

*miraculously decides - just in time - that it's probably better to keep his seething mouth shut for moment or two*

Sons were united with fathers unknown,
The seeds of good relations have this year been sown.

Rejoice! *burp*

From Texas, came a cowgirl at last,
Who came to see Krakow and visit her past.

*knocks himself unconscious with a Scottish warhammer*

Some made fine grooms while others made brides,
A union of which, fills us with pride.

*regains conscienceness, opens his eyes, and moans about the bright white background of PF because it hurts his eyes, and reads something about marriages*

*faints again*

Matters not if you are Muslim or Jew,
This X-mas we'll all start a new.

I hope so, so I guess I'll raise another glass to that one! (Isn't it great to use a poem as an excuse to get properly pissed?)

:)

Na zdrowie!

With family and friends we'll forget all our woes,
Eat, drink and sleep! and forgive all our foes.

Are you sure?

With make-ups and break-ups to make up some more,
A drink for yourself, I hope you will pour.

Cheers! *hiccup*

With generalisms, ologies and isms galore!
We try to turn away but we howl out for more.

*smirk*

So I'll end this ryme, this season greeting,
On Polish Forums, we are always meeting.

Tak!

And to all those who love and love to hate,
I'll catch you on other threads, now that's a date ;)

Trust me, I'd rather have a date with a hot blonde, but I guess your bar-tales along with drowning myself in a barrel of Tyskie will solve most of my problems for now..

Remember dear Poland keeps us all together,
Under Admin's flagship we brave the weather.

Don't you think he's going to need a whole lot more of superglue to keep some of us together?

With a kick in our step and a gleam in our eye,
You'd think butter wouldn't melt and we were all nice as pie.

Fruitcakes man, it's all about the fruitcakes!

So a rich man or beggar, you be.
Merry Christmas to all, I do decree!

Hey, atleast I've read your damn poem? (Seriously, I think you're just trying to depress some of our resident artistic talents?)

*grumpy*

Alright, alright!

:)

Na zdrowie!

Love / Asian guy in love with Polish girl (any chance?) [125]

Do I have a shot at all if I ask her out?

You're asking me? You know, you should ask her this exact same question, (And replace the ''she'' with you ofcourse!) I bet she'll smile and think you're original!

What do Polish girls think of Asian guys?

I don't know, there are an awful lot of Polish girls, with an awful lot of opinions!

I don't know any Asian guys who are dating Polish girls.

And?

Oh gosh her smile.....help!

Normally I charge a decent sum of money for my infinite wisdom and priceless advices, but we've just had Christmas, and New Year's Eve is almost there, so I figured, let's be a nice guy for a change..

My advice:

You should ask her.. *someone turns the radio on and you can't understand a word of what I'm telling you* and.. *heavy metal* but if she thinks that you will be.. *pizza delivery girl interruption* Now where was I? Oh yes, you should then ask her if she would like to.. *kung-fu guy storms into the room, shouting and screaming whilst showing off his whirlwind kicks* and ofcourse you should just be yourself and ask her about the things she might like.

;)

Good luck, osirion-san.

Do Nobles marry half-Jews in France or Spain?

There's no such thing as half-Jews. Either your mother is Jewish or she simply isn't. Oh, and what exactly is Jewish? Is it a race? Or is it a tradition? Yup, it's a tradition. So to me, you're just another human being.
