Life / How would you describe the Polish sense of humour? [66]

does it matter?

No. I was merely asking.

I find a lot of laughter with the Polish people I know and spend time with, and that's without being able to use the kind of word-play that I like to use in English.

Me and my friends have a laugh too but I find it's usually over some kind of situation rather than some play on words... I mean I can't even think of a situation where I use a play on words as a joke.

I always wonder what exactly 'dry-humour' is...

Life / How would you describe the Polish sense of humour? [66]

even if it's literally the same joke in the 2 languages. to me Polish jokes written by Polish people are the funniest.

Of course naturally the translation issue is there and those jokes which are funny only to Poles and those to Brits about the way things are in our separate cultures and as well each to their own in terms of what we personally find funny.

It's interesting stuff though thank you.

Most times when you see that message, "double clicking" on the video screen will make it work. When posting a utube link it is always best to check in the preview box to see if there is any problems with the link. Hope this helps;)

Alternatively just check on the actual youtube page in the embedding box and you will see if you are allowed to embed.

Life / How would you describe the Polish sense of humour? [66]

I got to thinking the other day about how Polish people react to the jokes I've told them and how they have reacted to certain situations we have been together in which I have thought to be funny and they have not and I realised that Poles and Brits have very (sometimes very, very!) different sense of humour.

So I would like to ask how you would generally describe the Polish sense of humour and even to post some Polish jokes or funny stories which make you laugh.

Love / English Men vs Polish Men [207]

The wife cannot always be there to satisfy the urge and drive of men, especially if they are overseas.

But isn't it that that differentiates us from animals?

Still, I find it wrong to cheat. I just wouldn't do it.

Good for you mate. We're a dying breed I'm sure!

Love / English Men vs Polish Men [207]

ShelleyS

I have to agree. To me... attractive, intelligent, pleasant English women are few and far between....and then when you find one she is married.... ;)

I think most Polish guys would happily cheat on their girlfriends and attribute this to the notion of 'well all men do it' I'm not sure if this is a Polish thing or generally a guy thing although I haven't witnessed it as much in the UK... personally I hate cheating and I sometimes wonder if I am the only guy I know who has a enough scruples to keep his proverbial **** in his pants.

Theres a cool Reverend and the Makers song that always pops into my head on these topics...

"cos they don't teach you in school about the state of things.."

Love / English Men vs Polish Men [207]

How funny was this thread!

My experience is that Polish guys have no problems cheating on their gf's (probably because Polish girls are generally prettier that English) English men can seem to keep it in their pants more.

IMO.

History / Polish mathematicians who solved the Enigma machine [86]

noimmigration

Y'know, 5 mins into my reply to you I gave up. I realised that even if I do explain some things to you and gave you examples of how Polish soldiers fought like courageous heroes, you will not listen because you are basically an idiot.

It's a real shame to see such a waste of a brain.

The debate is not on who captured the machines, but on who decoded them.

True. Noted. I should have known better.

:)

That stupid statement would be similar to my stating, from an American perspective, the British did very little fighting, either.

Love / POLISH WOMEN ARE PROMISCUOUS? DISCUSS. [153]

apparently British women do just the same, read about it in a paper. are British women considered promiscuous?

More so.

I dunno what to think anymore lol. But I've actually heard Polish women complain that British guys expect a lot quite fast because of their easy British "competition", if you know what I mean.

I'm not surprised you heard that, it's a sad fact that many English people nowadays lose their virginity aged 13 - 16.

more like creepy talk lol

I give up. Far too complex for me! I have morals! I don't go around having sex with anyone! I practice safe sex and do right by people. Yet I am somehow immoral!

Oh I know you wont sir. You cant feel guilty... everyone got a point on thier deeds...whether they are on any scale of the misdeed meter.... e.g. even osama dont feel guilty of what he does I guess.

That was preposterous! Are you putting me in the same sentence as mass murder Osama Bin Laden???

I can't feel guilty? No I can not on this topic. Your view is blinded by your own beliefs, please try to be more objective.

But I dont have a problem with you personal life...

Obviously you do!

And I prefer people who dont....neither respect nor disrespect people who do.

Don't play with words, you are quite good at it. I hate people who think they are above me because they believe they have a higher moral standpoint, or do I?

I make sure that people know, what a true kiss to your true love for the first time means

What? It means something different to you than it does to me. You like metaphors: Get off your high horse.

I have belief in my belief... and this strength in enormous.

Good for you. I respect your view however...

I have no need for religion I have morals to a high degree, I know which is right and which is wrong, which is good and which is evil.

sadly - we don't, that's why there's no point in quoting religion or traditional morals because even the roman catholics do this stuff, Polish people do, everyone does.

I agree. Your points are valid and I personally think you were right to defend yourself. Calling you a feminist because you stated a more modern view is not right, I'm sorry Lodz but it is not. The world is not idealistic people are doing lots worse things than just sleeping with each other before marriage. Maybe I am sensitive to this because Lodz disapproved of me talking about the topic on another thread. If I love a girl and the girl loves me why should we feel bad because we practice safe sex? I won't feel guilty for somebody else's disapproving view.

not saying you shouldn't make a guy wait for it though lol.

Lol

i watched Enchanted last night ha ha...

Love / POLISH WOMEN ARE PROMISCUOUS? DISCUSS. [153]

how hard is it to find someone these days who actually stays within those traditions and keeps restraint.

Do we live in a traditional world? I don't think we do anymore. Life is ever evolving and ever changing. We risk being left in the past if we cannot keep up with modern society.

*YOU* its all about taking care of yourself and being responsible.

Well said, couldn't have put it better.

JustysiaS

I'd just like to say. Well said.

Youth is youth and things aren't how the church would like them to be and to think about it in these terms is naive.

I'm not married and I've had sex with a girl who is not, does this make me a bad person?

No it does not.

I am not religious either, does that make me a bad person.

No.
