Travel / Ultra cheap trains in Polish trains [8]
I can't say anything positive for IR.... Low quality old trains, mega dirty and normally delayed.
But i also use TKL quite often and have never had a real problem, the trains aren't the cleanest, but quite quiet, well heated in the winter, generally on time and nicely priced.
TKL from Głogów (about 50km above Wroclaw) through Wroclaw, onto Krakow somthing like 55zl cool :)
Same with InterRegio - it can be very hit or miss

Food / Bees - honey in Poland [13]
I love honey, i eat Polish honey from the local market for breakfast everyday, this is the first year i haven't had hey-fever! its great.

Law / Advice please - Getting monies from a Poland employer who refuses to pay [41]
Hey guys,
I have a small problem, for which I'm seeking any information possible on what i can do.
I have just finished a 9month fixed contract with my employer, i was employed by them.
They are supposed top have paid me in surplus of 2000zl 2 weeks ago (which was my last day of employment) since then i have received nothing, they refuse to answer the phone, and so Ive been visiting for the last two days asking, normally the response is
We have no money, we cant afford to pay you, we are waiting for xxx to pay us, we made a mistake with our accounting this month etc etc etc
Today i went and the receptionist gave me 100zl, which is all they had, she showed me the balance sheet and they had 10zl left, when i told her how much they owed me, she laughed and said humm sure, baring in mind she is also waiting to be paid!
Where can i go? is there anyone who can help?
Any advice would be grand

Just a full time teaching contract... I'm not self employed or anything, they make my zuz and tax contributions (well hopefully, problem getting hold of the copies)
Well they were more annoyed i didn't want to extend my contract with them for next year!

I have feeling it was a TEFL job and the unscrupulous employer banks that he will sail back to jolly England for the summer, and not come back.
Well they were more annoyed i didn't want to extend my contract with them for next year!

Ive saw them back in March, i have asked for copies EVERY day since! and am still waiting!
I hope so, they will get their comeuppance one day!

Have you a records of tax and zuz payments that have been signed by the school director?

Yep i would say i was far to nice to them, all because i want a good reference!
But now, with thanks to Delph, things are moving in the correct direction :)
I have learnt a massive lesson from all of this, which I'm glad i have learnt early on :)

Well i can say, with the threat of legal assistance on my behalf (Cheers Delph), they suddenly manged to find the money the next day! which i collected today in cash.
Shame it had to go this far, but hey

She was sorting that while i was their and bringing round to my house by 6pm..
The fact the DOS was even at school means something must be being done, i last saw her 2 months ago.
I hope she will just get on and do it, or a trip to her house is in order :)

How much data are you moving?! i have a Play mobile dongle, i use while away from home.
199zl to buy then they have a range of promotions on top-ups.
at the moment you get 4GB for 50zl which is quite good value for money.
although it depends on your usage of course :)
but the modem/USB costs ALOT without a deal and only 1GB is not enough for me lol

Hey!
The bus station isnt in the same complex as the train station. but about a 10min walk along a main road.
You cant get lost, its well slign posted! as you depart the bus station, turn left and walk 300m until you see the train station!

I'm gutted that you will be leaving before we have had chance to have a BBQ on your farm! Its a shame although your going to somthing better... a loving relationship, which we all deserve in our life.
Your farm sounds amazing (apart from the old bat stealing your fruit) and i wish i had had the chance to come up!
I wish you al the best and look forwarrd to seeing you in Moscow!!

Life / What is Nowy Sacz like? [20]
Having spoken to some people, some say there is a well renowned business university in Nowy Sacz?
So as an English teacher you should be ok, lets be honest Lowfunk, it must be better than Lubin :)
Also if you like snow sports also i hear its a good place for skiing and the such like!
I'm also making the big move down south this year but to Bielsko-Biała, i wish you all the best and don't forget its not about how pretty the town is, its what you make of your life :)

I have a 3G which i brought from the UK, i cracked it and use it on Play pay as you go.
Realistically i don't use it much for calling, but send a lot of SMS, download emails many times a day as well as the use of facebook...... It dosent cost much in data and i only use 30-50zl a month. The main cost is surfing the net which is a little more expensive but realistically not that expensive!
Play is a good carrier and they run a lot of promotions... for some reason for the last year ive had free SMS (not that i know how i got it!)

Real Estate / Polish system for flats/apartments. Owner have to pay a rent? [11]
In blocks of flats you normally need to pay "admin" fees, normally this includes some kind of utility as well, for example where i live, the admin fee includes water, waste and weekly communal cleaning. Where my in-laws live it includes heating, waste and communal areas are cleaned daily.
My landlord doesn't separate the costs and the "admin fee" is included in the rent i pay him one amount.... job done.
If you own your flat then you still need to pay administration fees for the above reasons.
Someone has to keep the areas clean and ultimately the building will need some kind of maintenance throughout its life.. the money has to come from somewhere! with big blocks they publish the income, whats being done, how much its going to cost etc on a yearly basis.

Me also, top bloke! Unfortunately he hasn't had chance to go the UK recently, I'm waiting for him to go and pick up, hopefully soon :)
Best thing is to get a Polish friend to give him a call... that is if you don't speak Polish :)
Recently i got myself a 22in monitor for my PC and it cost about 550zl so 120 pounds, you cant a good monitor for under 500 i don't think!
Good luck in Poznan is a beautiful place and the ex-pat's are fantastic including Delp :)
but I can thoroughly recommend this guy

I agree with the above, very easy, in fact all offices involves were very helpful and even gave advice..... something I'm not so used to in PL :)
I even sorted my own ZUZ (I say I, but i mean my Polish missis) Although now my accountant sorts everything for me, great guy and worth the 90zl a month!
I have this problem... i need to add a new code, but I'm heading out and seeing the cost tomorrow, hopefully its not expensive!

I went and added 4 new PKD codes and a grand total of nothing! They even send the amended zaświadczenie in the post, as i don't have time to pick it up next week!
I pay 90zl a month, he sorts out my business expenses, income tax and files what ever paperwork is needed.
Most importantly he speaks English!
Although one guy wanted 250zl a month!

Well i also copywrite, but it's on a difference basis i work on the basis of 20zl for 150 words. each article is about a fixed topic and only minimal research is required, the main input is creativity and about 20-30mins.
If i was you i would also be looking for that amount of cash, but don't allow someone to uncut you :)
