History / History of Poland in 10 minutes. Really worth seeing! [134]

I didn't know it was only Polish-Lithuanian army that won the Grunvald battle.

there's many things you don't know. blame russian education (propaganda) system. Russians are good in makeing vodka but they've never wrote a good history book :)))

The Poles had provided a formidable army of 18000 knights, 11000 retainers and 4000 foot soldiers, to which must be added 11000 Lithuanian knights and foot soldiers, 1100 Tartars and about 6000 Bohemians, Russians, Moravians and Moldavians who came to help the Polish-Lithuanian State.

you ruskas were drop in the ocean :)

Life / Exam for Drivers License in Poland; English? [99]

Is it possible to take the theory and driving exam in English?

i've heard about germans taking exams in PL so I don't think it's a problem for foreigners to get polish driving licence.

Feedback / The image of Poland according to PolishForums [90]

These are just an innconente questions ;). I was wondering what image of Poland would I get after reading PF if I were a foreigner who has never been to my country. I think the forums give deformed picture of poland. And I can't say with strong conviction that PF are the best promotion for Poland. It's nice place, though

Feedback / The image of Poland according to PolishForums [90]

Is PF the place where the foreigners get the real image of Poland?
Does it create good or bad image of Poland and polish people?
Did it encourage you to visit / to live in Poland or did you change your mind?
How the experiences shared here corresponds with yours?
Do you think there is too much pointless discussion on unimportant matters?
Do you think that the atmosphere here is friendly, neutral or hostile?

Just wondering... ;)

Language / Interesting inconsistency between Polish and Russian [71]

Polish "szukać" ("to look for") sounds like czech word for "to fuck". Many polish visitors in CZ REP use polish to communicate. And tourists are always looking for smth so It's always fun when poles arrive to czechia ;)

plivat - pływać (spit - swim)

In polish 'plwać' also means 'to spit'. But it's the staropolski - old polish language. My uncle studied with polish/czech friend and the guy said that czech is much more similar to the proto-slavic language. That's why many words in czech sounds for poles old fassioned.
