History / Churchill and Poland [121]

What appeasement? What appeasement? What appeasement? Stalin already ruled Poland

So where do you stand on this circus? /wiki/Percentages_agreement

or better yet. Just have fun with this one. But be patient, it's very long......alot of betrayal you know. /wiki/Western_betrayal

"Churchill defended his actions in a three-day Parliamentary debate starting 27 February 1945, which ended in a vote of confidence. During the debate, many MPs openly criticised Churchill and passionately voiced loyalty to Britain's Polish allies and expressed deep reservations about Yalta.[32] Moreover, 25 of these MPs risked their careers to draft an amendment protesting against Britain's tacit acceptance of Poland's domination by the Soviet Union. These members included: Arthur Greenwood; Sir Alec Douglas-Home; Commander Archibald Southby; the Earl of Ancaster and Victor Raikes.[32] After the failure of the amendment, Henry Strauss, the Member of Parliament for Norwich, resigned his seat in protest at the British treatment of Poland.[32]"

Travel / My visit to Poland - Likes & Dislikes. [137]

People will like and dislike whatever city they want. I only beenn living in this city for over a years. its not the best looking but there is alot of caring and friendly people and resouces here. its what is in the city that counts. I come from a large city origianlly that has a big mixture of poeple. there is alot of reasons why Eastern European people come immagrating and runnig to USA why because have alot.this is my opinion.

I live in San Diego, which is the ''FINEST CITY IN AMERICA''

Obviously your post is 2 years old but Europeans stopped moving to the sinking Titanic known as the USA, decades ago. The only people still immigrating here are the poor, starving and uneducated.

My sister finished her Masters, after teaching at the University she packed up and moved back to Europe. My parents are planning to return to Europe once they retire in 6 years and I myself (As a European member) dream of returning to Europe once I finish my college degree.

Unless you are wealthy (2%) or Not White why would you choose to live in the USA over most European countries? Americans distrust the government, their neighbors and co workers. Average American is in debt, over worked and addicted to prescription drugs. Education continues to decline from already pathetic standards. Americans are ignorant to the World around them, based on what the poor, starving and uneducated Immigrant brings over.

This country is the model of how to NOT construct a nation. Unless you are wealthy, of course. Then again, some people prefer a lower quality standard of life in exchange for TVs, 1$ cheeseburgers and endless traffic.

History / Churchill and Poland [121]

otherwise we would all be ruled either by Communist Russia or the Nazis.

You just ruined your troll.

Poland......was ruled by Communist Russia. So in essence you are arguing that Churchill's appeasement towards Stalin (for many reasons like UK being in war shambles) spared England and yourself.

History regards Churchill in this circumstance as a liar or a fool. You choose.

History / Memos show US hushed up Soviet crime against Poland [97]

Nazis are a never ending broken record in USA culture used to fuel white guilt. The message is clear: the white/blonde haired/blue eyed Euros are oppressive.

The narrative of Hitler is then portrayed on current leaders, to create backing for attacks and occupations (Iraq).

History / Memos show US hushed up Soviet crime against Poland [97]

This is a very anti-semitic statement.

This comment was completely true and perfectly timed. Well done

"But not here. We needed our Nuremberg, like in Germany. But we never had it. And until we start discussing the problem of communism on the level Solzhenitsyn started 50 years ago, we'll still live in this half-Soviet country which wants to be part of mankind, but is afraid of information about its own history."

This is completely spot on.

In Western culture, in terms of WW2: Germany gets too much blame, USA too much credit

History / "Westerner's" most ridiculous beliefs about the time of communism in Poland [73]

"Capitalism" is an economic system.
"Democracy" is how we choose our leaders.

It's all interconnected with FREEEEEEEEEEEDOM

Free market in Capitalism (Except corporations own politicians haha)
Freedom to vote for whomever you want (2 parties haha)

Americans are really Nationalistic. They even made up their own word for it.... Patriotism

It's becoming more possible as Polish society Westernizes.... which waters down Polish culture in some ways.

Love / My Polish Relationship Marriage ..story to be told. [USA/PL] [34]

My experience has been that USA society drastically changes Poles. At a much much more accelerated pace than the new Westernization of Poland is currently doing. Changing as in putting family and values (Communist strengths) behind money and entertainment (Capitalistic strengths) Long story short it's difficult for many people to accept the new home without letting go of everything from their past home. We saw this with Polish-Jews moving to the USA after the Holocaust and Polish immigrants throughout the past 3 decades. Otherwise the individual is constantly stuck in limbo, comparing the two systems and countries. Never truly happy. It's much easier to do what I would state is the attitude of most Polish immigrants (Not my family): USA is land of opportunity and although it's not perfect, it beats standing in long lines for food or having Russia turn off the gas etc. My point being it seems like she used her parents (negative) experience in Europe to shape the goals she wanted in the USA.

But the tricky part is that a significant amount has changed in the USA & Poland the last 10 years. USA was a booming economy and culture before 9/11. Now 10 years later, Poland is a solid weight in the European Union and the USA is IMO a sinking ship (Whites minority by 2043. Rap dominates Pop Culture, Addiction to Sports, Declining Education etc etc). I think this might add to her uncertainty. Her stakes in the USA are even bigger now because she invested 10+ years and......IMO life in Europe is better for the middle class. I could see why as the USA declines, she feels the need to jump ship and find a partner who is very safe economically, if not booming. Add to that point, you live in NYC. The capital of the Haves & the Have nots.

Just to assure everyone, this Polish girl wasn't way out of your league in terms of looks right? If she is, then that would explain the sex issue. Kinda off subject but Poles are known for their passion. Many times acting with their heart before their brain. USA has been a "Super-power" for 70 years, turning them lazy. During that period the white-male in this country has been beaten over the head with the Civil Rights movement and then the Womens Movement. My point being: Maybe you need some passion in your life. At your still young age, this is exactly what you need.

It sounds like you wanted an immigrant wife that would be obedient and motherly but you went to the wrong place. Eastern Europe (Yes I know Poland is central now) is no longer like it was 10-15 years ago. For better and worse, the economical expectations are higher.

SeanSmartsNY

My advice:
1) Do not have a kid
2) Obtain as much evidence: adultry, her financial status, anything really
3) Lawyer up
4) Divorce
5) Buy PS3
6) Game on

No. No. No.

Gym before Buy PS3

Law / The right to own guns: would you support such legislation in Poland? [2315]

USA still has guns today because this is a declining sh*thole (Which I am in the process of finishing school and escaping)

Americans mistrust the government, hate their co workers and neighbors. The gun is the right for Americans to protect themselves from America. It is truly an astonishing culture to live in, one that cracks me up as the drum continues to beat ''THIS IS THE GREATEST & FREEIST NATION EVER'' .......but make sure you own a gun for protection.

News / Is it true that the Polish has signed to take on the Euro in 2015? [12]

There are economic guidelines that Poland must pass. This article explains it all

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poland_and_the_euro

Blessing in disguise, we were turned down in 2009
"In an interview for Rzeczpospolita daily 22 October 2009 he also said Poland could adopt the euro in 2014 if the general government deficit is reduced in 2012"

Now it's us dragging our feet to the original agreement. We caught a huge break because we are in position of power now given our expanding economy. At this point Euro needs us more than we need the Euro. It would be idiotic to switch currencies in the next 5 years (atleast)

Public WiFi spots?

90% of (responsible) users have a password on their Network. 99% in high traffic areas like apartment complexes or college areas.

Love / Should I forgive my cheating Polish girlfriend? [73]

No kids
No marriage
Only 2 years? (1 was long distance anyway)

Cut your loses, which seem to be quite small. There are so many interesting and incredible people out in the world. You shouldn't feel the need to settle (Unless maybe if you have young kids). Find someone that is truly in love with you because that's what we all desire.

USA, Canada / Differences in How Polish People Raise a Child and How Americans Raise a Child [149]

Agreed. The good and the bad of Capitalism. Education and family unfortunately declines for "more stuff" and in some nations within time......for daily safety.

I know I was a little hard on our American friends. Most Americans don't have the option/ability even if they were raised in a more loving household and I think that's the teetering dangerously close part you are expressing, facing todays Polish society.

Judging by your posts I assume you would prefer Poland to slow down it's growth and take a more long term approach? Then again, do you really see Poland taking a back seat to any other of the ''new Euro additions''. Quick short term wealth is undoubtedly in place to be made.....but for whom?

What were your thoughts on the retirement age raise?

USA, Canada / Differences in How Polish People Raise a Child and How Americans Raise a Child [149]

To answer the OP:

Family and especially children is #1 in Polish culture. Entertainment and wealth is #1 in American culture (Because Americans are drilled ''This is the freeist and greatest country in the world'' from a young age)

You can read between the lines in some of the responses by Americans in this thread: "I was raised at a very young age to be independent and to fed for myself" Yadda yadda. That's because your American parents were probably too busy watching Football and praying to Ronald Reagan.

Stick with the Polish upbringing. There is a reason why family structure in Poland puts US to shame and that has translated to better success in the classroom (in England), as well as less crime, etc. It all starts with parents/the household and then school. American parents rely on college sorority ****** and (by at large) below average schools to raise their children. It's shocking and Americans declining standard of living illustrates the after effects.

In Polish culture it's always better safe than sorry. In America this lack of logic is apparent in every day American life.

News / 1.3% birth rate = Poland's slow death [221]

MarcinD
Freudian slip? You wrote: '...people that grew up in large values themselves', when you obviously meant 'large families'. According to the Freudians, that slip-up suggests that deep down you believe large families are a positive value, but wanting to seem 'modern' and going with today's mainstream popcultrure flow, you are suppressing that thought..

Oops, my apologies Polonius3 for the misunderstanding

I certainty see the positives of a large household & it is difficult to find any negatives in having a large extended family around (Grandparents, Uncles, Cousins etc). But the problem is financial

Unless you are wealthy or live in the city outskirts, it is difficult to afford a large household. I grew up with my own room, I would feel weird forcing two of my children to share a room for example. Such freedoms are eliminated once more children come into the equation. I personally rather give my children every privilege & advantage possible versus splitting my time & money between multiple children

News / 1.3% birth rate = Poland's slow death [221]

My opinion on Polands declining Birth Rate

- If Poland wants to remain a homogenous nation, this is bad

- If Poland wants to continue improving economically as a whole, this is good

Having lots of children is an out-dated cultural norm. I notice it to be still prevalent in religious circles and/or people that grew up in large values themselves. Having grown up as a Polish immigrant in the USA, I obviously did not have much extended family around and a 3rd child would have heavily crippled our family economically.

My expectation is to have 2 children (Same as my parents) and a 3rd or 4th would depend entirely on our economic situation at the time. Considering I am already in my late 20's, I doubt I will have more than 2 or 3.

Nations that are over-populated, are usually undesirable to live in. High-birth rates is still practiced in regions like South America, Africa & the Middle East. This is not by coincidence.

UK, Ireland / First proper "Polish" School in the UK - The Next Stage of Ghettoisation [283]

Ultimately both sides of this debate are true & justified.

Unfortunately for OP, his Government is making these decisions on immigration etc based off of $$$. At-least English politicians are still somewhat held accountable, in America they hide behind gated communities. Poland was crippled by selfish leadership for decades & in many aspects still is. People have to realize that those in power have passports & it will be their cash/gold that protects them not a flag
