Life / Living like a local in Poland - What does it even mean? [30]

My net salary in Gdańsk is 4950PLN and while I haven't got an apartment yet I will be able to find one for maximum of 2000PLN including everything. Therefore, I'm certain I can have a normal life with the remaining about 3000PLN.

Still, you see it everywhere on this site that it's not possible to live like a local ie. cheaper. How so? What do I need to do to live like a local? Why couldn't it be learned and what's the downside of learning that? What exactly am I doing wrong if I get my groceries from Biedronka like all the Poles?

Guys...no one even attempted to answer the original question. I want to be a part of this country for years to come, to integrate as they say. Obviously, I don't know any locals outside work and I don't want to ask them either. Why not? Because they probably live in their little bubble whereas I'd like to know what's really happening in the country where I chose to live in.

Priceless, I was wondering when reading why the absolute expectation that the OP is a man?

Generally, buy enough beer, you will be amazed how much people sometimes drink. While there probably is a shop nearby where you can get more it's not ideal. Most of all, don't stress too much!

As a learner myself I didn't know that Poles don't play any games but I must say I'm not surprised. Why waste good drinking time playing games?

There are other deductions than just the tax. Also with gross of 12000 PLN the tax is not 18%. Plus you have mixed up gross and net.

You will be receiving little over 8000 PLN not 9840 PLN. Should still be just about enough to live on but don't expect to save too much.

I have met the nicest funny Polish girl and it looks like we'll become a couple this weekend. It's a bit scary of course as I have know idea how to date a Polish girl.

Law / Eviction process from an apartment in Poland [13]

I lost my job in the winter and it took me a few months to find a new one and obviously to get paid. I have explaind all this to my landlord but all he cares is money. He has got regular payments now but it is true that I am behind enough for him to cancel the contract.

I don't think that is even that much money and it won't be for me either quite soon. However, he has now given be a few days to pay everything or to leave the apartment. I just told him I'll need some other paperwork than some angry text messages. Luckily, this is through an agency so maybe it will help at least a little to make things by the law.

What does the law say then? I have heard some weird stories that it is actually incredibly hard or near impossible to evict someone in Poland. I can move, it is not that but I just don't want to be thrown out illegally. Also, I would need to stay here for maybe about six weeks to get enough money for the deposit of the new place.

As said the rent has been paid regularly but is currently 18 days late. It is a standard and formal contract with an agency so surely it must be legally binding somehow.

I asked the agency to send me some formal letters through mail and stop text messaging me.

I was only asking for some real life experiences as I wouldn't want to fight this for real. All I need is some time and I want to move out anyway because my new job is on the other side of town and this place is too big for one person.
