Real Estate / Moving to the Katowice area soon! Safe neighborhood for an Irish man? [38]

Hi, you cannot register a RHD car in Poland. It would be better if you buy a used car in Germany and drive it accross. The neighbourhood around the Silesia shopping centre is a nice area. All the apartements are new built and you have the shopping centre on your doorstep, its only a 4 min drive to Katowice centre. If you are looking for a drinking place, you could do worst than Spencers.

Life / Are Polish roads really this bad? [237]

I agree with delph here, the motorways between Kraokow/Katowice and Mikolow are great. I did drive from Katowice to Gdansk once, and the whole drive was grand(11 hours)

we did have pit stops. The main point was that the roads were all good, only got lost for 10 mins in Poznan. It was actual closer to Slupsk

News / Polish prosecutor 'shoots self after news conference' [93]

Its on news.pl that his he has a bounty on his head of 1 million zl, would this not bring about stress. However seeing the size of the guy, you would need to be either brave to do it up close or else you need to do something from a distance. There is a sniper rifle that the germans have that can hit a target from 2km away

News / Polish prosecutor 'shoots self after news conference' [93]

I only said the weapon was available, i did not say that any guy on the street could use it.

I feel sorry for the guy, he has great pride in his work. Everyone knows that there is a degree of criminal in the armed forces, look at the amount of stuff that the USA army lose's.

UK, Ireland / Warning to British people visiting Poland!! Don't get drunk and smash the place up! [447]

He is not a normal irish man, he is a police man. Other police in Dublin have being brought to court for entering a apartment and beating a irish guy(ok the irish guy did break the jaw of another policeman).

I just wanted to say that it is not something that occurs everyday.

sorry this was reply to Harry.

UK, Ireland / Warning to British people visiting Poland!! Don't get drunk and smash the place up! [447]

I've yet to see an British stag party in Krakow. I must be blind.

Last year I came across maybe 20 brit stag parties in the Irish Mbassy Pub. They do have very good bar staff/security, so I never saw any trouble. Well except when I asked to watch the All Ireland hurling final(but it was just **** taking).

History / Poland and Britain started WW2 [307]

I hate people that try to stir the **** because they have access to the internet.

history1900s.about.com/od/worldwarii/a/wwiistarts.htm

I'am surprised that he has not gone into detail on the payments that Germany was forced to make after both wars.

News / Bad news for beer-lovers in Poland (beer prices going up) [22]

The price of beer is not determined by the price of grain alone. The large brewer's will have hedged most of their needs for up to 3 or 5 years ahead, maybe a year for fuel. Of course price of beer will increase for Euro 2012, but it is the retailers who will increase the price.

The Irish mbassy have a happy hour Mon to Fri 5 to 7 with 500ml of beer for 5zl. Lets hope they keep it.

History / Poland and Britain started WW2 [307]

What is your connection to Poland? Next you will be saying that Ireland tried to invade England during the war.

Why don't you stop talking bullshit and go to join a nazi party.

Life / Polish people are the most ignorant people in the world! [331]

And he, like most of the posters on this forum are NOT Polish. As the OP proves, the silliest topics are from non-Poles, because you know this isn't really a forum for Polish people.

Are you Polish? The whole idea is that the forum is open to anyone.

Perhaps the forum could be in polish?

Law / Opening a Polish Bank Account by a foreigner in Poland. Recommendations. [299]

You do not need a Polish address to open a bank account in Poland. I opened a account in BZWBK while a resident of Ireland. The bank clerk told me that they would put the address of the branch as the address for all mail, while the bank would know that I did not reside in Poland at the time.

UK, Ireland / English/British rudeness - what do Polish people think about it? [161]

I always hold a door open for either female or male if they are with in 2 or 3 feet of the door. Almost every time I get a thank you. I like a door to be held open for me if I am with reaching distance of it.

It does not cost anything to be polite.
