News / Polish President Lech Kaczynski and gov officials die in a plane crash in Russia [686]

I bet Russia could be posting daily statistics on soviet-era flying deathtraps crashing somewhere between Moscow and Vladivostok.

out of some 23-30 crashes in the tup's life some three were due to mechanical error.

then you have alot of the black sea crashes, i can find these sources if need be

the plane has a history of "accidents" over russia theres no doubt about that.

Life / Are Polish roads really this bad? [237]

typical Polish inability to unify?

is this guy ******* serious, are you comparing roads in eastern poland to the autobahn? ill show you roads in my town in america that have been traps for decades, this is in one of the richest areas in the world, roads that are broken concrete and dirt, take a hike.

actually i just read a market study on the auto industry in poland on a villanova link,

pretty much stating the obvious sales are based on delivery of cars, dealership acceptance and available parts/ downtime, volvo was #1 followed by mercedes, ford and chevy were in the middle, i like chevy but only because parts are cheap and available here so, your roads suck get a truck.

History / Polish historical myths - to break or not to break them? [257]

off topic here; an excerpt from norman davies' God's playground:

" The myths of Poland's undivided Catholicity can only have been coined by the apologists of a church whose supremacy was constantly disturbed, either by interal dissent or by external force.

"the abominable vice of tolerance"
Lastly, it would seem that toleration as distinct from tolerance, did prevail. In a state which possessed no strong central executive authority, and where the ecclesiastical courts could not enforce their rulings, religious uniformity could not be imposed. The nobility believed what they wished, and protected whom they liked. The bourgeoisie and the jews were secure within the framework of their autonomous estates. No one could overturn the catholic establishment, and no one could realize its bsolute pretensions. The republic was indeed a "land without bonfires". There were nocampaigns of forced conversion; no religious wars; no autos-da fe; no St Bartholomews eve; no Thomas or Oliver Cromwell. The limitations which in time were applied to he confederation of Warsaw were trivial in comparison to the horrors which occurred in most other european countries. The Polish 'anarchy' and the 'golden freedom' of the nobility, proved an obstruction to efficient government and to religious fanaticism alike."

not the end all be all ofcourse.

oh yeah monia, you said it best.

i admit i was looking at the anti-semetic angle and found that point, from a closed thread, thanks.

Love / Polish women are the most beautiful in the world! [1718]

her chin is too strong, maybe she can take a punch, i am very good at the howard stern style laser pointer shoot out, i like small chins on woman usually which is somewhat a slavic trait imo, i would look at that girl and see two chins next to each other, its ok as long as she doesnt get pouty and she knows shes not even a seven.

just saying, sokrates was right.

satina, what up.

News / Polish final report on Smoleńsk aircrash [859]

the investigation did not follow international protocall, in what world does putin head the investigation of a downed plane?

when the plane was downed poland became a russian puppet government, hence the institutional problems and collusion with pilot error

anyone who beleives otherwise is the enemy.

News / US to deploy Patriot missiles to Poland [405]

seanus prefers a weak poland; makes him feel like a little big man.

i think that the missle sheild was a type of reward for allying on iraq and aphganistan, since were making up scenarios as usual america renigs its "deal" with another elected party, but republicans are nothing if not loyal and russians are arming the enemy and will always be a slavic scar, gaping wound festering if you will.

if a rewarding deal comes in another form so be it, but i expect the US to forget its friends.

do you prefer bush to obama yet? uhem thats a big hell yeah.

News / Polish final report on Smoleńsk aircrash [859]

so this commander J, is he speculating or was involved at the time, someone told him or her...they said he was interviewed at a nuclear conference by intelligence officers.

wikileaks.org/gifiles/docs/382437_re-comrade-j-on-polish-plane-crash-.html

Also, why did they allow the airplane with the journalists to land?

exactly, why did they allow the airplane with the journalists to land and not the presidents plane? ;)

wasnt the airport closed, not cleared for landing?

except it was open for Tusk to land?

so was it closed due to weather or because it was decommissioned?

News / Polish final report on Smoleńsk aircrash [859]

Based on the experience of the crew, it would seem that they were used to flying approaches which relied on decision height and not decision altitude.

you would think adjusting the altimeter and essentially turning off TAWS, is a sure sign that they were reading the barometric meter. (white numbered dial)

"...fact that the airport wasnt in the database..."

1.8.2 Maps and approach charts
The crew had at their disposal approach charts of SMOLENSK NORTH, which were
copies of materials passed off to Polish Embassy in Moscow by the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs of Russian Federation. On 09.04.2009, that outpost forwarded
29
said materials to the
Military Air Traffic Service Office of The Polish Armed Forces which passed them to the 36
Regiment

29
According to a statement by an employee of the Polish Embassy in Moscow, made on 5.05.2010,
a representative of the Polish Dep. at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation informed on
05.04.2010 that procedures for the year 2010 are just like those from 2009.

what pilot would adjust one altimeter to turn off TAWs and not use the other? is this guy serious? and they knew the airport wasnt in the database?

News / THE ARMY OF POLAND - THE REALITY [493]

are plastic poles allowed to fight in the polish army, i read it somewhere in a hemingway novel that you had a choice to fight for your adopted country or choose the mother country, maybe a farewell to arms"

wonder about immigration laws and language barriers.

i guess in terms of world war, poland would be occupied anyway and polish refugees would fight for allied countries.

In the entire world actually, not just IN EUROPE as you have claimed obviously trying to say why didnt that many men come instantly to Polands aid......well, because most of them were thousands of miles away .

i thought 0 came to aid plus a few missed airdrops.

as transportation and technology advances so do the borders; house to house to town to town to state to state and so on.

im pretty sure if newjersey could go to war with new york we would ;P

News / THE ARMY OF POLAND - THE REALITY [493]

drone army is the way to go.

President Komorowski has stated Poland's own plans for the military.

i dont understand how a missile defense shield can be wrong and right at the same time, this to me says they will buy russian technology rather than american.

News / THE ARMY OF POLAND - THE REALITY [493]

the missile defense shield was not meant for a threat from Russia, as far as i am aware, it was Russia who saw it as a threat.

would Russia be in danger of fallout if they sent nukes towards Poland.

@ legend, look up the "czar" bomb...7.1 on the Richter scale; then again it was this site i first ever even heard of it so, thanks.
