History / Can anyone from Poland tell me about Auschwitz and The Ghetto? [612]

Let us not forget who funded the Nazis, da da, Prescott Bush.

Anyone care to deny it? Mike Ruppert commented on it in his 2.5hr commentary. I can't remember what part but he shows irrefutable evidence of Prescott's complicity in funding Nazism.

He also says here, that he had incontrovertible evidence that America could have prevented those attacks. I can furnish those like HB with screeds of evidence, in chronological order, showing numerous instance of potential aversions.

It is SOOOO clear that the American government was involved. But, back to the thread, Auschwitz was a reality funded by American sources. Fact!!

Mike Ruppert is ex-CIA. He was also a cop and has written widely.

Life / Doughnut [Pączki] Day... in Poland [70]

This is where I feel good because the rest of Poland catches up with me, LOL.

One guy ate 6 today, not that many but still 1500 calories or so. I had my customary one but didn't go overboard.

News / Is NORD STREAM dangerous for Poland's natural enviroment? [540]

That info is a little dated. The 76% that was provided was subsequently upped to 93% so only a 7% deficit remains.

The Board of Directors of RosUkrEnergo are Scandinavian or German I think. The guy who runs the show, Mogilevich, is Ukrainian by birth but has Russian citizenship and is more thought of as Russian.

I'll take that as a rhetorical question, lesser. You know full well what the answer to that is. Do you really think that if two of the smallest states proposed it and was met with objection from bigger players, it would be accepted and approved?

Money talks, BS walks. You want answers, ask a Pole, Marcin Libicki. He is a prominent MEP and a Chairman.

Well, Poland joined the EU in May 2004 as we know. Thus, EU Environmental Law applies. It thus has recourse to the integration clause in this sphere/domain. This stipulates that all relevant EIA's will be carried out expeditiously.

I can't remember the exact terminology applied by the ECJ when outlining the sphere of competence of the Commission. Environmental protection became one of the key priorities of theirs, featuring extensively in their remit. It was to permeate through the fabric of the EU. Also, any international agreements are to be congruent with the EU Treaty, Article 10 I think.

Also, the Law of the Sea Convention became annexed to EU Law. After a reading of it, you could conclude that Germany and Russia should be exploring the Polish proposition of taking it away from the seabed and laying it elsewhere.

From a knowledge of EU Law, I can safely say that Poland is on safe legal ground here.

Poland certainly has cause for concern. I wrote an article about 'scoping' way back in 2000 which is part of the Environmental Impact Assessment process (EIA). Scoping takes place in the preliminary part of proceedings. For more, read up on the Espoo Convention.

I have to read up on the effects on nature but I know that there was a hoo haa at the World Wide fund for nature. Statutes like the Habitats Directive must be cited to the planners like Wingas and DONG Energy.

Given that Russia wants to oust Poland, or at least have that option, Poland is right to be uncooperative and non-compliant.

Poland is right to sound the alarm bells. Environmental concerns should not play second fiddle to business deals.

Rather than pointing fingers, have a look at this,

There was a long conference on this, posted by RussiaToday on Youtube. Putin is VERY clear on the position. Judge his sincerity for yourselves.

Compensation has been offered which is more than can be said for Bulgaria and Slovakia,

RosUkrEnergo just have to outline their reasons for the failure but the picture is rosy for Poland. Supplies have been upped from 76% to 93%.

Ever heard of delays in delivery, Prince? It happens. Poland still has stocks but, trust me, they don't last long. Just ask any company that places a heavy reliance on its consumption.

If Poland was accused of stealing, I am sure it could clear its name. Paranoia helps little.

Law / Hiring a Polish Worker - Pros and Cons [107]

Pros - Hard working
Is willing to take jobs that local don't
They take the time to learn their job (the is important here)
Is practical and knows reality - Polak potrafi

Cons - 1 man working, 4 people watching, LOL. Just kidding
Vodka headspins lessen concentration
Begrudging at times
Not the most communicative

It just depends. It takes forever to think about this, depending on who you have in mind. I could refute every one of the above so take it as a general guide at best.

Life / Why are Poles always so miserable? Why do they never smile? [512]

The Poles are willing to laugh, you just need to know which levers to pull and buttons to press. Get them speaking English, it draws them out a lot more.

For those that persist in frowning and emitting a negative aura, let them be. Turn away. Or, if you can't resist the urge, slap them with a big wet fish and make off as if nothing happened :)

Life / Polish Organizational Skills [83]

Yeah, it hardly inspires much confidence. It's very much quantity, not quality. They cram in as many classes as they can to squeeze you.

It's like anything in this world, you have to do something for a stated reason but you can always clear what the underlying reason is. It's all about bums on seats.

I've asked many times to have my list of students revised but nothing. They are very quick to give me new students to mentor but don't update the list.

Off to Paris, LOL. He should have to pay upfront.

Life / Polish Organizational Skills [83]

I know one school where 2 employees left because they weren't paid at all for 3 months. Getting the Polish rate of pay is bad enough but getting nothing is just a slap on the face. It brought a whole new meaning to 'equal pay, equal work', LOL.

Everyone wants a bigger slice of the pie these days but, as I said, teaching is teaching and unfortunately has descended into a money issue.

I brought my fiancee onboard to investigate just how legit things were. She doesn't hold back and found out some interesting cooking of the books. There is subtle swicking going on that I see. Rather than confront me with it, they prefer to take their chances in the hope that it'll slide away.

I can imagine what you mean. Although I have had largely positive experiences, I can see how the above comes about. Some are just too keen on gassing and getting little done, especially some women I've seen.

However, I'm not here to be critical. Just to say what I have seen.

Very good at the 2 schools I work for. As for the schools I worked for, hellbent on profit. I hate when people are in teaching for a quick buck, it's not what it is about. The teachers are the ones who carry the school and draw the punters in.

The organisation itself was OK, the shoulder shrugging and we don't give a toss attitude wasn't though.

Hmm....I have met some like that but the Polish teachers at Profi-Lingua were pretty thorough. I have a lot of respect for them. The ones at other schools are the same, a little more of a mixed bag but similar.

What you must bear in mind is that many Polish teachers work at 2 schools. I saw my co-teachers coming in exhausted because they had toiled for 6-8 hours before doing their private school shift.

Really, they do remarkably well for their working conditions.

News / Topless sunbathers acquitted in Szczecin, Poland [128]

You picked the wrong images, LOL. Nah, seriously, some people like such places but there's a complete lack of movement when it is busy. Not my kinda place. Give me a ride, ahem, bicycle trek out in the forests anyday :)

Boobs are boobs, so what? I see them every day and I'm glad for that but....

Hehehe, I didn't mean that, I meant that if people get out of their ordinary routines, they are initially like fish out of water and have to adapt. Many Poles love gibbering away in their own language and would have to adapt a fair bit if they went abroad. It really helps them break from the nest and learn to swim. Lord Only Knows I've had that initiation before and it has stood me in good stead.

Good point, WB. Getting away from your customary way of doing things helps on many levels. I remember teaching a girl called Akiko in Hiroshima. She was as quiet as a mouse. She went to America for a year. I didn't recognise her when she came back. She was using hip slang and was really communicative.

The same could apply to work perspectives. People who have closeted themselves here only frustrate others who have different ways of working. It's like beating your head against a wall sometimes, or trying to rouse a mule into action.

History / Yalta Conference and Poland [78]

The British just continued appeasement, after having learnt only a few years before just how bad an approach it was. Poland was savaged during WWII for no good reason and completely unfairly. The sensible thing to have done would have been to prevent the imposition of communism. After all, the West had an ideological bone of contention with it.

Churchill was just happy to bask in his glory. He was a pompous ass who only really cared about protecting British shores and couldn't give a hang about what was in the Polish interest. Not that he had to, but it would have been more equitable.

As a non-Pole, the Poles are far from perfect, as is every other nation :)

On different levels, I've heard many foreigners here say that certain people just can't get their act together and that they have to be spoon fed everything. They also do things begrudgingly, with the 'why should I be doing this?' look on their faces. It comes from a distorted sense of pride.

As ever, there is another side and many are super efficient. Unfortunately, they seem to be the exception to the rule. There is a lot of wandering around here when they could be working.
