UK, Ireland / Polish immigrants in the UK - victims or criminals?! [243]

Why not instead of whinning how bad they treat you abroad, give them same treatment in PL?.I am heading for PL soon and I promise to give "westerners" the same treatment they give you, if I only come across any of them. And I don't give a flying phuck how big or whatever they are since they are on my territory.I say "westerners" coz I dont have a problem with ppl from other parts of the globe, including Amis (99 out of 100 welcome me here in US), they don't have this "I am better" attitude.Probably some good ppl (judging from this forum there is a few among them) will get hurt in the process ,well to bad.And Susila if I was you I would find another bf coz your current one seems to be one of the "superior"scumbags. So brytole, irole, wiatraki ,greek herders and the rest of you "western" europeans see you soon ,we will talk some more in person.

Life / Babcia or Busha - any social class difference? [359]

In fact, I can't think of any native Polish word that would have the "sh" cluster in it.

Neither can I(but "sh" is polish "sz "isn't it?).Many of the XIX and XX century immigrants came from eastern Poland which is now Ukraine or Belarus and Busha seems to be canibalized form of russian (Ba)bush(k)a.In central PL its Babcia,Babka or Babunia (but only little kids would say babunia) not busza babuszka or baci ,I spent there 25 years and NEVER heard it.Btw, did you people see "Deer hunter"? They(characters) claim to be Polish but I can understand only "na zdrowie" ,the rest sounds like ukrainian or russian.

Language / Is the term 'Polak' derogatory?? [254]

Has the new meaning originated from the derogatory word? Parch can be derogatory as it is a sign of an illness maybe that's way it was used as a derogatory word?

Well,it more looks like "parch"(Jew) originated from "parch"(disease). This makes sense.Honestly I did not know (until now)word "parch" also means grzybica.

Language / Is the term 'Polak' derogatory?? [254]

Has the new meaning originated from the derogatory word?

I don't know but in my area(central PL) some people use "parchy" in regards to Jews and I know for sure from my grandparents (they lived in town with large jewish population in central PL ) it was common before the war.I would trace it from "parszywy" but I am only guessing here.

History / The great mistakes of Poland's history? [216]

Dude it all depends who you are asking. You would probably get about 38 milions different answers ranging from hell on earth to heaven.I can't provide you with my opinion since I am so called (on this forum) plastic Pole, not real one.-)

Language / Is the term 'Polak' derogatory?? [254]

Yes, this is the only word for Jews here in Poland and definitely is a neutral one.

You don't know s**t.The common offensive term used in Poland before the WW II ,which some Poles still use is "parch"(Jew) or "parchy"(Jews).Look up "Parchy, szwaby, goje" by Jerzy Urbankiewicz.

Off-Topic / To ALL IMMIGRANTS ("expats") to Poland on this forum... [124]

I remember an American who used to work for me getting really upset by all the modern buildings and Italian restaurants in Warsaw - he expected PL to look the way his granny had described her village.

What did you expect?I meet many of these ppl. They acctually call themselves "Pollacks".It goes like this:they "Where you from?" I "I am from Poland" they "Oh I am Pollack too!"I "No,you may be Pollack but I am a Pole".The way they picture life in PL is:Poles wear national dresses daily, eat nothing but "kielbasy","pirogis"and "holubki"(gołąbki), ride horse wagons and dance polka all day long.(NONE of them belived that I don't know how to dance polka). They mostly nice ppl but don't know much about life in PL.

The way my bleeding heart sees it, he is a homesick Pole, getting distraught (probably from reading this forum) at the wave of Muslims poised to occupy his ojszczyzna.

No ,I am more sick and tired of this crooked ,antipolish regimes occupying my land for over 20 years. All they want to do is to tax you to death and then waist the money on some BS.F*****g crooks and traitors.I would like to go back but I am not going to support this fuckers with a single penny of my taxes. What this country needs is a revolution, even bloody one if necessery. The problem is that majority of polish ppl do not know better. Poland could be a great country, much better than many so called "western" ones but first it has to get rid of the leeches in sejm and senat.

Plus, he had a few drinks (I was betting on it when I replied Na Zdrowie)

I do not drink.

UK, Ireland / The best way for a Polish person to learn English? [34]

Why to force yourself finding a foreign girlfriend/boyfriend,

Nobody should force anybody 2 anything,we discuss the BEST way 2 learn.1st of all to enter relationship with foraigner u must allready speak his/her language at some level(or he/she must speak yours).then it is really handy to have a native speaker around.

Having foreign partner makes it easy.to give you an example i remember:watching "taxi driver" with my wifey.in one of the scenes de niro says:"i take everyone, even spooks"i have had no idea who the "spook"was, but all i had to do was to ask "baby who is the spook?"and had answer in a sec.
