Life / Why is circumcision not practiced in Poland? [701]

They don't go into its origins though in the U.S

Yes, they did.

"...the medical practice dates from the late 19th century-a time when the causes of most diseases were poorly understood."

It has really nothing to do with "emasculating propaganda", as you say. In the U.S., they ask you months before the birth of your son if you want a circumcision for him or not. No pressure whatsoever.

(Jews) ... promoted a religious belief

I don't believe that conspiracy theory. The practice is thousands of years old and seems to have originated in eastern Africa. It can be found in different cultures across the globe. My take: if God wants men to be circumcised, why did she give us a foreskin in the first place? ;)

Quartz is a far left, pro lgbt site.

I didn't even know they are, but what does that have to do with the information they provide? In this case, it is neutral and accurate.

Language / Will Germans be able to understand Polish enough? [77]

when one scratches ever so slightly beneath the highly polished veneer...

Pure Anglo arrogance (not talking about you personally here!). Come back when you have managed to speak a foreign language on the same level as a native.

Language / Will Germans be able to understand Polish enough? [77]

Hey pal, be nice she is my PF friend.

Oh, sorry. Didn't mean to be "mean". Was just hinting at the fact that us Anglos should learn a foreign language ourselves first before criticizing others for their (supposedly) mediocre English skills.

Germans in general know English for sh

Don't know about that. The ones I've met were all fluent in English, albeit with a heavy accent.

Genealogy / Mongolian the Golden Horde - do Poles have Mongolian ancestry? [256]

The accuracy and value of the tests vary. One will tell you that you originated in Poland while the other will claim that your ancestors came from Scandinavia. They don't tell you about the Deluge.

How difficult is it to trace one's cultural genealogy?

You will need a lot of time if you want to do it accurately. Church books were often destroyed, some ancestors were born out of wedlock - just to name a few roadblocks. Expect a few decades of work. If you want some tips, let me know and I'm happy to help.

Genealogy / Mongolian the Golden Horde - do Poles have Mongolian ancestry? [256]

don't you find it interesting to know your background

Oh, I've been into genealogy for a very long time, but my genetic makeup (all my ancestors came from Europe) is still not that interesting for me. What does it help if I know that a few lines originated in what is now Poland for example? The region was invaded so often over the centuries that a DNA test has no value.

Who cares about the genetic makeup of people? We are all a mix anyway. Here's an interesting source:

sciencemag.org/news/2017/05/theres-no-such-thing-pure-european-or-anyone-else

one wonders why he's so keen to downplay the Soviet involvement in Poland

Just another "nationalist" who found a new home on PF, that's all...

Soviets "vent off the steam" mostly on German women

How many of them became pregnant to support your "theory" that Germans have much more Mongolian blood than Poles?

Is there any reliable info source which could prove this statement?

Start with Wikipedia and then follow the links from there:

Life / Differences between Irish, British, Polish, American and other nations culture, tradition, music - loose talk [239]

does anybody like Creedence Clearwater Revival

Some of their songs such as their take on "You put a spell on me" or "Suzie Q" for example. The first one reminds me of slow dancing with girlfriends (love you, girls!) in somebody's dark basement, with only mattrasses on the floor and candle light. Aah, those were the days. My favorite song from that era is "The Park" by Uriah Heep. So beautiful.

Lucifers Friend

German band if I recall correctly. They had some pretty awesome ones back then like Amon Düül, Atlantis, Scorpions, Frumpy, Epitaph, Kraan and others.

Whats your favorite guitar solo?

Hard to say. I like Richie Blackmore's solo in "Strange kind of woman" on the Made in Japan album a lot. Frank Zappa's "Willy the Pimp" isn't too shabby either. UFO's "Boogie for George" is also great. Vanilla Queen by Golden Earring, too.

Speaking of Frank Zappa. Did you guys know that he played with Pink Floyd once?

Glad you enjoyed Pete Bardens, guys. That album was one of my favorites for a very long time. But there are/ were so many other brilliant guitarists out there.

Neil Young
Peter Frampton, Steve Marriott / Humble Pie
Frank Marino / Mahogany Rush
Alvin Lee / Ten Years After
Lesley West / Mountain
Jan Akkermann / Focus / Brainbox

Just to name a few.

how about Michael Bloomfield

Love the Butterfield Blues Band.

News / German state declare diplomatic war on Poland. [56]

some illegal anti-Polish activities

Like what? Didn't I read here just yesterday that Poland honors free speech so much more than any other country in Europe? The link BB posted talks about Poland using its EU membership to retaliate against a critic. What's your take on it?

No, we are hiring them to work for slave wages.

How about just stopping them at some red line and not a step beyond.

Let's start with Mar-a-Lago...

News / Poland in the European Union. Polexit? [559]

explain how Poland would end up "without work" without EU.

Poland leaves EU. Poland loses access to the common market. Poland becomes a lot less interesting for foreign investors. Foreign investors/ companies leave Poland. Poland's unemployment increases.

Speaking of Yalta: too bad for Duda that part of Europe will be leaving the EU soon...
