Love / What do you think of Polish girls? [40]

Ya for the most part polish girls (like many polish guys) will hook up w a foreigner to add a flag. However most don't pursue long relationships unless they're going to get some kind of benefit out of it like money citizenship etc.

Some of the best places imo to pick up polish girls are in the city squares markets etc. Clubs too in a way. If you're a young good looking foreigner from us Canada etc you'll have girls themselves asking for a dance no b.s.

Life / Why are Poles always so miserable? Why do they never smile? [512]

@Lyzko

Same.. I can't stand fake smiles laughs or fairness n insincerity in general. Us is very dog eat dog and b.s. about appearances and all that jazz..

Altho I wouldn't say that poles r all grumpy... Maybe if you're in the city n ppl r rushing to work home etc r n just preoccupied. Go to the zoo park city squares bars stadiums concerts shows and ull see ppl of all types old and young polish or not having fun and smiling

I did notice there seem to be more fist fights at bars n clubs than us. However at some in the us n latam at rly sketchy spots every so often you hear on the news of people just going right for the pistol. One time it occurred while I was in a club in the us n it was a very popular place so kind of unexpected. An Asian (I believe triad) gangster started shooting at a group bc one of the guys in it tried to pick up his girl

@Ironside

Yes I am very interested in learning about pilsudzki and the info you know esp if it differs from the sources on wiki. I remember one of his quotes that was rather funny it was something about politicians but I can't find it online

@Babysupial

Idc if you were sucking off walesa behind the podium during his speeches. Little boy huh? Come see me in Poland us or anywhere else and say that to my face. This little boy will make you his little b!tch. Well see what happens punk. You are one messed up person if you hate your own heritage and country. Perhaps sucking on a tail pipe is the answer to a miserable existence? Just make sure its not a hybrid.

Also ill have you know I'm pretty well versed in russian and i contribute plenty to both America's and Poland's economy. I'm proud of the fact that I came from poverty and made it and I say that to encourage others. I don't need to prove jack to you or anyone else though but ill have you know I'm pretty financially successful. Now phuck off, no one wants you here. Better yet come find me I dare you. Anytime any day anywhere punk.

@jon357
Well its a good way to solve disputes and debate but I wouldn't say that it will totally eliminate fighting violence wars etc. League of nations and un were set up for similar purposes. Plus we still have some low level fighting in Kosovo not to mention east Ukraine. If Russia invaded the baltics I kind of doubt the rest of the eu would rush to help. Plus everyone's coming in w a hodgepodge of different ideas agendas traditions goals etc so its def a challenge to sort it all out. For the most part the eu got along well for years and years but now old tensions and issued have boiled up to the surface esp with the strong left right divide in the western world and the migrant crisis.

Love / What do you think of Polish girls? [40]

Most are beautiful and very intelligent and educated but rather high maintenance and always trying to change and mold a guy... Of course I'm generalizing but as a polish man born and raised and having dated and been around numerous pl girls that's been my observation.

Some are overly materialistic to the point of being gold diggers. Not as ruthless as some of the Ukrainian and Russian women though.

I like Latino girls personalities the most in general because they're fun to be around and tend to like you for you... They're very laid back 99% of the time. But when they have a temper tantrum watch out lol

Nonetheless ill.most likely marry a polish girl anyway when I decide to finally settle down n have kids so we can pass the traditions, language, customs etc onto them. Prolly won't be for a while tho..

Law / Old Polish money banknotes - what's their value today? [415]

Most of the old prl money isn't worth anything.

I do have one coin that's 100k zloty with an image of a soldier on the back and some writing about the Warsaw uprising. Idk the value now but I remember when I looked it up online it was going for like 10 20 bucks.

There are people who will ask hundred to several hundred for some of the rarer memorial coins but remember this is an asking price... It doesn't mean your coin is worth that much..

The only pl coins worth a lot are gold ducats

@Marsupial

How dare you say that. You're lucky you can hide behind a keyboard because if you said that to a real pole like myself in person wed set you straight real quick.

You need a history lesson. Ussr occupied everything to east Berlin after ww2.. After poles helped basically collapse communism through solidarnosc our economy has grown tremendously. People from all over the world from Europe to Africa to s Asia to e Asia come as tourists, investors, students, etc. We rebuilt our country and we won't let it be destroyed. That's a foreign concept to you though as you're the total opposite of a patriot - a traitor.

This is a polish forum. Gtfo if you're going to talk $hit about Poland and polish people. I hope you get banned.

Go leave Poland and change your polish name. People like you aren't welcome. You won't be missed.

News / Poles say a big YES to our European Union [996]

@Ironside Eh not totally true.. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intermarium

First sentence says it was a ww1 plan of pilsudzki..

Also yes many different Slavs lived together peacefully during the polish Lithuanian commonwealth and in titos yugoslavia

And no, I just hate to see my Slavic brothers and sisters fighting each other. That feeling has nothing to do with politics. Anyway I believe as Slavs we ought to be united as we share much in common similar cultures similar religions similar languages etc. We can put past differences aside and focus on what unites us. Especially to take a stand against things like forced multiculturalism Islamic terror unctrolled migration attempts to destroy the traditional family unit ostracism of Christians etc

@Crow

Pilsudzkis intermarium idea would be wonderful. A federation of Slavic states from sea to sea would be wonderful but its a pie in the sky idea for now. Although who knows anything can change n tens of millions of Slavs living and working together would be a great thing. Kind of like the way Yugoslavia was under Tito but bigger and better. He was a Croat but still all the different ethnicies of yugo liked him. Unfortunately I don't think it will happen anytime soon but who knows. At least we have v4 for now and id love to see other countries like romania bulgaria Ukraine serbia as well as the other Slavic countries in the Balkans and baltics join us or At least form more economic and security ties. We live in a very troubling time in Europe. Everyone knows its just a matter of time before the next major terror attack.

If there's one thing I absolutely hate seeing is slav fighting slav like in east Ukraine. So sad to see fellow brothers and sisters killing each other, shelling Slavs homes businesses etc.

Lastly...
At the end if the day Pis won. Not just the presidency but they gained quite a few seats as well. There's several reasons why PO lost - the whole tape scandal, talking down to fellow poles, being all to willing to cut deals esp with Germany in what many saw as selling out some of the county's most important, and also kow towing to Brussels on the migrant issue. All those really upset the poles contributing to their losses.

I like certain leaders in PO although many have a rather shady past back from prl days and some like komorowski appear to have made up where they're from, who their family is, etc.

UK, Ireland / Polish lorry driver arrested for smuggling 9 million cigarettes [64]

@Roger5

Well they enforce Putin's agenda as well as the criminal penal code. I.e. if one tries to wave a lgbt flag, you'll get beaten and jailed. Different mentality you're right. Putin has instituted a sort of fort Russia policy - in some ways I agree with certain things he's doing like trying to unite the country through Russian things - orthodox religion Russian history patriotism russian arts and music etc. He doesn't want Russia to turn into the type of culture Brussels has promoted and it appears Russians seem to support him in that quest. Although the corruption the attacks on people like Jehovah witnesses etc is a bit too much.

UK, Ireland / Polish lorry driver arrested for smuggling 9 million cigarettes [64]

Ehh I wouldn't totally agree with that. The 1/2 price cigs can be purchased within a 5 10 minute walk in just about any direction from SkyTower in Wroclaw although I'm sure every city is different. The 15 16 standard zloty price is still far cheaper than what cigarettes cost here at $6 $7 a pack so for the most part I generally don't buy the bogus ones since they taste like $hit and it's not worth saving $2 to smoke what we've dubbed 'czernobylskie' (from Chernobyl). In rural and suburban areas almost every kiosk has them but they'll only display like one pack in the window (often the Russian Zebra ones). Authorities obviously know about it I just don't think they care a whole lot and they have other fish to fry. I use to only smoke cigs but now I smoke hookah at home and in the office - bit healthier and cheaper and cigs only if I like can't use a hookah (i.e. driving, going out somewhere).

Yeah there's been a few incidents like that especially in Russia with bad liquor. I'm sure Poland too. I remember seeing a clip of some Russian guys catching two dudes driving a load of bad liquor and they put them in cuffs and beat the crap out of them afterward. The Russian cops there are no joke. They beat people up, demand bribes, do all sorts of things especially if it's something that they believe is hurting Russians or Russian society.

In Cook County Illinois $10.50-$13.00 would be a deal lol! $15-$16 is standard. Generally people who smoke regularly will drive 20 minutes, buy a carton for the week or whatever at half price in lake or will county, and not buy in cook unless they run out.

@jon357

Ya i mean every time I travel abroad I typically stuff around half a carry suitcase full of marlboros lucky strikes (my fav brand) and montecristos at the duty free on the return flight home so usually like 6 to 8 cartons and mayb 2 boxes of cigars. I've never been hassled by us customs they're more concerned about agriculture and drugs. Actually now that I think of it I've never been called to like a secondary search in any country.. There's dogs in the carousel though so I would advise against bringing foods from abroad bc they'll def sniff it out.

In Poland counterfeit cigs have been popular since prl times. They're openly sold in markets for half price and usually have a Russian German or English warning on rhem instead of the usual polish one. Some of the pics they put on packs are flat out disgusting lol I'm sure they've given more than 1 polish kid nightmares

A similar case in the us happened a few years back - same thing polish dude w a lorry full of cigs. He got a few months then was deported

Some truckers do this in the us too. You can easily double your investment by buying cigs in places like Kentucky Virginia etc oftentimes right from the distributor buying em at wholesale $4.50 $5 a pack and they drive to places like Chicago or NYC where the same cigs retail at 15 a pack. If cigs cost roughly the same in each state there wouldn't exist such a trade.

Idk about Europe but here there's not much of a penalty for getting caught. Usually just a big fine and back tax payment.

Work / Hi, I am Indian and will be shifting to Poland (diploma in Mechanical engineering) [47]

To all the Indian dudes looking for work in pl,

If you're gonna go to poland it engineering business are good safe bets. It is particularly a hot field now in pl with good salaries and you can get by without learning polish. If you wish to work in most other type of positions generally you'll need to know the language. The salaries are lower than western Europe but are pretty on par with overall costs and living standards. Most Indians and pakis that come to poland end up going westward but some do stay and really like the country.

Language / Slang term for "pants" in Polish? Gacie. [32]

Gacie is more slang for underwear esp a mans. Long johns that you wear in winter are kalesony. Majtki is the more proper name for underwear.

For pants we call em either spodnie to be more proper or portki which is more slang in a way. Shorts are known as spodenki or krutkie spodenki

History / Can anyone from Poland tell me about Auschwitz and The Ghetto? [625]

@Lyzko

Poles hate him even PO types because he said things that were extremely insulting inflammatory and most importantly totally false statements against Poles and Poland. Even a leader from the Bathory Foundation (which actually gets some money from Soros) denounced him. He's anti-polish as they come and extremely biased, uninformed, and objective. BTW Anyone know what ever happened with the libel case Poland launched against him in 2015?

He ought to take a trip to Israel's Yad Vashem memorial (as I have while in Israel for work) as then he would see Poles have the most, roughly a quarter, of all the 22k Righteous Among the Nations awards for saving Jews during the Holocaust... but no he instead focuses on some hick little polish village where a few hundred died out of the tens of millions who perished throughout the war. He's a race baiter no different than people like Jesse Jackson.

I'm not saying that Poles and Jews don't have a complicated history and have had animosity towards each other at times. However it rarely ever resulted in murders yet he points out one incident while disregarding all the things Poles did for the Jews, and to some extent what Jews did for Poles. The reasons are complicated and much of it stems from Jews taking advantage of Poles and even sentencing many to death (like adam michnik's brother) and giving AK members and supporters of the government in exile up to the soviets. Combine that with the Zionist views during 68' which somewhat continue to the present day which many poles reject. Nonetheless, Poles and Jews have lived peacefully with each other 99.9% of the time since the Renaissance years and they'll continue to do so regardless of what race baiters like Jan Gross do.

Also people working at uni's make stuff up all the time. There's a professor at a local uni who wrote a report how Whole Foods is classist because they don't have them in black neighborhoods. Clearly she didn't do much research as there's one that I know of in Englewood which is arguably the most dangerous area in Chicago as well as others in also rougher neighborhoods.

Furthermore, don't forget Norman Finkelstein is a professor at DePaul - the guy who wrote The Holocaust Industry. Facts are facts right otherwise he wouldn't of got in to teach there?

Life / How are electric cars doing in Poland? [413]

Dann that's high. For us 14k 15k miles is considered a high mileage lease. (1.6km equals 1 mile). Usually 10k miles is around the standard and you pay a huge penalty if you go over. I noticed the lease prices are roughly the same everywhere but terms are a bit different country to country. I have a turbo diesel Honda crv that I drive when I come to poland but its got like 10 years 150k km on it from all the road trips through the years. Im not a big fan of Honda's but I got it pretty cheap. It was used when I bought it though it was 2 years old and had some 20k km on it. It was actually from a lease. Someone leased it but stopped making payments.

News / Poles say a big YES to our European Union [996]

@delphiandomine

Yeah but that's mainly due to demographics there's probably more Italians and Spaniards than Arabs in poland in the first place. Idk the exact numbers in just guessing by what I've seen. Also in some cultures acts of flirting and what not can be considered sexual assault in others I.e. pinching a girl. In the us having sex with a drunk girl can be considered rape even if she agreed to it whereas in other places no such laws exist.

Poland doesn't mind multiculturalism but in limited amounts. Even recently they've become more open to lgbt. Poles accept things just at a slow cautious rate although some thing they just won't negotiate on unless its done their way. For example they're fine with taking in people from the middle east... But only Christians it appears

@delphiandomine

I'm not saying poland is 100% safe but compared to other countries including western Europe overall violent crime and victimization rates are lower. But yes domestic violence def exists and is rampant in some rural poorer areas especially when the husband has had too many drinks. At least pis went back on the whole abortion thing after much protest. Some people hate it some like it to me its whatever I view it as a necessary evil. I think it's better for parents to have a kid when they're ready to but that's just my opinion. Peoples views on this cover the whole spectrum.

Most of the far right ppl are narodowcy and soccer hoolis. Every European country's got em but Poland's tend to be more vocal more powerful and often enjoy political protection.

There's been 1 that I could loosely classify as a terrorist incident where some guy left a bomb on a bus and the driver casually tossed it out.

@johnny reb

Youd be surprised johnny by what poles can afford. Theres especially a lot of Porsche Macans and BMW 5s in wroclaw. However cars above the 50k 60k usd mark are rare. I predict most of those cars are leases and not outright purchases though.

You see a lot of the low to mid end German cars I.e. BMW 3 and 5, Mercedes c and e and especially a lot of the smaller suv like Mercedes glk (what I own) gle BMW x3 Porsche macan etc but not the higher end like BMW 7s Mercedes s550 Porsche panamera etc but there's still a few around.

Usually people with mental issues repeat themselves so it was an honest question.

Unfortunate you're too naive to see what's going on in europe. I wonder how the families of last weeks 4 islamic attacks feel. Also gates tone amongst other sources is quoting the 2200 page report suburbs of the republic. Their name and their founder is very well known and their publications assist conservative policy makers decisions.

Once you're a polish citizen you can join the 25% who are either uncertain or welcome migrants into poland. Even when that day comes there's 3x as many of us who don't want poland to turn into a place like France with 2 years of state of emergency. Sorry this is Poland not Belgium not Germany not France and not the uk. We have a different set of traditions and customs. We place emphasis on different things. We are slavs and the v4 along with now Austria are starting to realize the folly of eus open migrstion scheme. There's certain things we like about eu membership as most poles are for it. However we are against forced migration.

And yes I took the day off to watch the solar eclipse. What's your excuse?

Sarkozy was also a backstabbing pr!ck who took gaddafis money than helped kill him. I use to not like macron but after a few of his comments he's not all that bad. I see a light at the end of the tunnel with him. Unfortunately there's not much he can do about the hundreds of sensitive zones populated mainly by Muslims with high crime terrorism poverty unemployment and all other sorts of issues the migrants exacerbated. Trucks can't even go through Calais without being attacked. Shame the brits had to foot a bill to erect a barrier to help truckers on French soil.

'All members either fully take part or lose out on full benefits of eu membership' how is that putting words in your mouth?

Sorry buddy but at the end of the day 3/4 of poles don't want middle east of African migrants just as 88% of poles want to remain in eu. Mind boggling for you isn't it? Too bad libs are so naive to think it's always my way or the highway and that everything is so cut and dry. We can easily remain in the eu whilst not accepting middle east and African migrants. We've done it yesterday are doing it today and will do it tomorrow. If they fine us 2 bil, so be it. 200 zloty is a small price to pay for security. Maybe if you could tell the Muslim ummah to stop throwing gays off roofs, assaulting and raping women, and killing tens of thousands of people all around the world including 4 attacks just last week in Europe than maybe just maybe poles would accept them. Were not the ones killing people and causing mayhem they are.

Sure all the high crime high unemployment sharia patrol extremist laden areas are a figment of the imagination. Sensitive zone Muslim ghetto no go.. Same thing.. If were gonna be pc though well call it sensitive zone to not upset the snowflakes.

I'm not arguing with you that 88% of poles support eu membership. Are you retarded that you need to keep repeating yourself? According to the same pollsters cbos we poles (meaning not you) 75% of us don't want migrants from Africa and middle east.

News / Poles say a big YES to our European Union [996]

@jon357

Exactly then why are you saying that poland doesn't deserve to be in the eu according to post #95?

You just don't like the fact that 3/4 of poles don't want middle eastern migrants or africans and there's not much you can do about that. Well sorry buddy poland is going to stay that way for the foreseeable future. I know its hard for you to understand polish culture and traditions since your not polish but you ought to respect the fact that the majority of Poland's citizens have decided not to let in migrants from the m.e and africa. It is polish peoples country after all. Our laws our rules our traditions. The majority has spoken well stay in the eu but we don't want 3rd world migration. Till the eu challenges our membership theres not much they can do. Till then the list of countries who also don't want 3rd world migrants causing terror attacks assaulting women and draining the economy will grow. Especially as Islamic terr9r attacks and other issues related to migration continue.

No gos are same as special urban zones. Call em whatever you want the characteristics are the same. Or did the French government make up sezs too? High crime high rates, issues with terrorism, high unemployment, problems with policing, mostly islamic.. Need i say more? They're called 'sensitive' urban zones for a reason.. And my mistake theres over 700 in France not just a few hundred.
