Life / Why are Poles always so miserable? Why do they never smile? [512]

Lady in red

i totally agree about the media point, i am admittedly a victim of this as the media some what seemed to have changed my mind on immigration in the last week or so, i know its only scare tactics but there are some definite facts been laid down, what annoys me though is that people like the BNP use them for their racist views and when people like me speak up about having controlled/restricted immigration i get banded with the BNP when that is in fact not the case.

Not seen you around for some time.......has been quiet in here I think <g>

well i was hanging round in the south of england last week knocking of a few tiles and throwing some chimneys of the top of houses :(, on a serious note i started back at uni last Tuesday so my visits will not be as regular as they used to be but i'm sure i'l make it spicy when i'm here :)

I haven't been in here much either till now !!!

why?? what has changed??

t's just normal human nature.......

totally agree, its just this thread reminded me of the 'Polish conservatism' i have seen a lot of. I usually don't pick on nation and Poland probably isn't the only one. ow what the heck never mind :)

yes of course there are Brits that are defensive and paranoid its just i seemed to have met a large amount of Poles who are. maybe a better way to express it is that they are more conservative :)

i wouldn't say that the Polish are miserable or unhappy all the time that would be silly. However i think that there is a certain amount of (over self defensiveness and paranoid) of course its not all Polish people that would be a stupid thing to say.

I am English and have never met a Brit who is so defensive or paranoid as i have the number of Polish that are.

As for smiling, a lot of Polish its fair to say are working in customer service (Coffee shops, Hotels, Fast food restaurants and any other job you care to mention.

My friend said to me 'well if you were working sreving coffee all day and not getting paid very much, would you be smiling, that isn't even taking into consideration the board factor' of dokng the same job again and again and again'

So i sympathise totally with those who don't smile all the time and are called 'miserable' etc. Surely it makes no sense to judge anybody let alone the Polish on their moods when they are working.

My friend looks dead board at work and not friendly at all but you get her out and about and she's wonderful to be with. Everybody has different moods in different situations

Classifieds / Asian community in Poland [113]

On this subject i think Poland should look nowhere else accept from the UK. The amount of people we have had come to our country of our size is astronomical. I feel personally that we are overcrowded and over populated and that there are thousands if not millions of people here who simply do not deserve or are needed here.

its ok having an immigration system and it may in the short term be a good thing for Poland to have an influx of workers. However with a lot of Poles leaving Poland you have to be careful that people don't sneak in the back door while your not at home :)

one of the things i love about Poland is that its stacked full of Polish people and is not over run to the extent of the UK with foreign migrants.

Travel / Why does everyone seem to hate LOT Polish Airlines? [380]

To be honest as long as the plane gets me from a to b with a little comfort i don't really care who's airline it is. I'm sure the Polish airlines are not bad and are as good as the rest

yeah i've noticed how popular that name is, i reckon six out of ten girls are either called Katarzyna or Ewelina, in fact i'm laughing just thinking about it.

My polish name, first name and middle name would be, Karol Dawid (Karl David), but i don't know about my surname i don't think there is Polish for it :)

ohh i have big sentiment to this name.

what is it your dads name or something or is that mr 40% boyfriend, hahaha.

UK, Ireland / Warning to British people visiting Poland!! Don't get drunk and smash the place up! [447]

the poles themselves have people like this

Yeah just look at all those well behaved Polish football fans, they sit quietly don't think about causing a riot and getting their team thrown out of the UEFA cup do they???

this backs daffy's point, the incident i am referring too is just a tiny minority of Polish football fans who rioted at one football match. Although i'm sure the Majority of Polish fans are peacful and just want to see a good game of football.

Its the same with the British and drinking, there are some who drink and cause trouble (Minority) and there are the rest (Majority) who just like to have a drink enjoy the beach and have fun :)

UK, Ireland / Warning to British people visiting Poland!! Don't get drunk and smash the place up! [447]

Unfortunately, well behaved British people abroad seem to fall into the minority. :(

i think your a little confused there, badly behaved British people abroad seem to fall into the minority that spoil it for the rest of the British holiday makers.

please don't think it is a majority because its not
