They are, and the main reason is that they keep most of the best ones for themselves and don't export them!
I was never a great fan of Italian wines until some Italian friends brought me back some fine examples when returning from their holidays there.
Italian wines are underrated as a whole, IMO.

I don't see Poland as a European/Asian mutant country like Russia at all.
Poland, historically and culturally has taken on some Asian influence.
But it has always looked to the west.
But to say that Poland is a mutant country like Russia, is just wrong.
RuSSia geographically is both in Europe and Asia. Mentally too, I think. This makes it similar to Poland in a way - a mutant country.

I hate poetry too.....pointless waste of time.
But for my A Levels I studied Economics, English and French.
Which required a lot of reading books.....
I got into reading as a kid acrually,encouraged by my mum.
Currently, I have a small, quiet room on the ground floor that many Brits would call a "snug". It is quite small and square.The only furniture is two armchairs and a coffee table.
One wall is just a massive window.
The other three walls are floor to ceiling shelves.
One wall has my record collection.Vinyl albums at the bottom.
Them a shelf of vinyl singles above and CD' s on top.
The other two walls are my library, it may be small, but it has a good mix of fiction, science fiction, politics and history in there.
I have a lot of books on WW2 and European and especially Polish history.
" Poland" by James Michener is one of my favourites.
You can read and enjoy this book if you know Polish history or if you dont.
Just a great semi fictional read.
I first read it about 30 years ago and then again about 10 years ago and have just started reading it again.A great book!
He was American BTW......

Interesting that many of the supposed best posters on here seem to no longer post.
I wonder why?
We have fairly recently lost Rozumiemnic, Chemikiem and Crow too.
But I can't say that I miss Crow.....the first two just left.
Crow may have become Ill or even died.

You are right Atch.I failed to distinguish between cellars and basements.
Basements usually have separate access and they are much more common than cellars in the UK.
