UK, Ireland / Prices of Clothes in Poland and England [35]

UK has also cheaper clothes than Germany. I've just came back from London and can recommend store called SportsDirect. They have a lot of stuff discounted by 50%. For example running shoes or Jackets/Shirts:

There is traditional store and online version. It offers online shipping to Poland for 10GBP. Pity, that it's 2 x higher price than to Germany, but can be worth, because it seems that 1 shipping fee allows to order any amount of clothes.

Study / Private Universities vs Public Universities in Poland [31]

Rynek najmu nieruchomosci VII 2013

here they say 1600 PLN with czynsz included. The easiest to rent online is through airbnb.com but they have prices around double of normal rent. The best website with adds is: gumtree.pl/fp-mieszkania-i-domy-do-wynajecia/warszawa/c9008l3200008

The best time to search for apartment is probably beginning of summer.

But how is situation with work in Poland in this spheres?

Read that:

Peter, and I think it all depends on the attitude of a man to work; ) I let themselves to disagree with you also in terms of decision-making. Because really in any field is a bit of logistics. Or at least its components; ) And even the smallest decisions are inevitable. The fact that , as in any industry - even in this you have to bite the subjects, the specificity of the company or particular departments , and thus acquire the necessary knowledge and experience to perform power Fairest of their duties .

A work in lower positions did not have to be boring and tedious ; ) Finally, the one who learns the changing industry - which seems to me in itself an interesting task.

The fact that you need a little work , demonstrate both analytical thinking and the ability to combine it all together to be noticed and appreciated .

It seems to me that while there is no explicit specifically the plot , in which a man by Aug. well feel it is good to start in smaller firms , where practically often many branches of logistics in one hand.

At least I know thanks to what specifically I would like to do in this industry. And I will strive toward this . It is true that I am only 1.5 year of experience in logistics ( now with a 2-year break to raise a child -logistyka the highest dimension ; ) ) , but I think a lot of experience and skills from my previous classes I was able to perfectly in her weave .

I don't know from the first hand how it is with logistics in Poland, but I know that it's very popular specialty, which for sure creates more graduates than there is jobs.

On the other hand it's the same with finance, but perhaps you could get a job in some outsourcing center as native Russian speaker. This language is not popular there, but maybe some position will be available. Especially if you would have diploma from Warsaw School of Economics. Graduates of this university have on average the highest salaries and find job the fastest (when engineering universities are not counted).

I think the best will be Warsaw School of Economics, Warsaw University, Kozminski University. In this order. You have biggest chance finding job in Warsaw, but only if you use time of studying for learning Polish. Aa a graduate of Polish university you will not need work permit, so that is an advantage too. To work in Germany you would need good command of German. You could get permanent permit to stay in the Poland, which would give you the right to work in Germany, only after 5 years of continues, legal living there (study time counted in half).

Another option to consider, since you have working experience in international company is taking 1 year intensive language course of Polish and later simply apply for a job. As an Ukrainian you have right to work for half a year without permit and after 3 months of working for a company they have easier to apply for long permit for you.

Law / If I change my job in Poland without obtaining a new work permit, will this affect my residence visa [21]

1) If I leave my current job without getting new work permit, can my current employer make my residence visa invalid?

yes:

When can a work permit be revoked?
In the following situations the voivode may annul - revoke an already issued work permit:
- circumstances or evidence on which basis the permit was granted have changed and the voivode was not informed thereof;
(...)

migrant.info.pl/Work_permit.html

2) Can I stay in Poland without getting a job until my residence visa expires?

I think it depends if your residence visa is depended from work permit.

I've heard that before people had to leave Poland instantly when they're fired or quit the job and that the law was changed so now they can stay for 1 month after finishing job in order to search for a job. But I am not sure if this law is already implemented and weather it requires extra permit.

Life / What is the cost of living per month for a single expat in Warsaw? [19]

The easiest is to rent through: but it costs around two times more than renting in traditional way. You can find apartments adds here: gumtree.pl/fp-domy-i-mieszkania-do-wynajecia/mazowieck ie+warszawa/c9008. I don't know how successful you can be when doing it from abroad. I agree with krecik89 about the language. About the salary it's ok to live, but too little to save substantial amount.

News / Parliament in Poland clears way for nuclear plant [78]

Not really. Or rather not enough, or rather spends too much. Otherwise public dept would not grow so fast. And the price of this power plant is around 800eur per working person. It's more than average monthly net salary. In did quite a lot. But this is what Poland must do, because EU is forcing it to stop burning so much coal.

Genealogy / Was my moms family (Kowalsky) Russian or Polish? [35]

Surnames ending with "sky" are Ukrainian (maybe also Russian). Polish surnames end with "ski". Although "Kowalski" is a common surname in Poland, so perhaps your surname changed during time and originally was Kowalski.

Travel / Over staying 90 day limit in Poland (do they even know I'm here?) [18]

US citizens do not require a visa to travel to Poland for less than 90 days.

lol, I haven't read what I paste. Proper fragment is:

Visa-free access to the Schengen states for 90 days in any 180 day period, although some Annex II nationals can enjoy longer visa-free access in some circumstances (EC 539/2001 Annex II)

Annex 2: eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/LexUriServ.do?uri=CELEX:32001R0539:EN:HTML

Anyway answer is the same.

Life / What is the best platform to sell items in Poland? [17]

Ebay in Poland is only for shopping from abroad. Ebay doesn't let Polish citizens to sell just for Polish market. That's why it has minimal traffic, used only for people interested in buying/selling stuff from/to abroad.

Travel / Over staying 90 day limit in Poland (do they even know I'm here?) [18]

The holder of a long-stay visa or a residence permit issued by a Schengen country is entitled to move freely within the other states which comprise the Schengen Area for a period of up to 90 days in any 180 days.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visa_policies_in_the_European_Union

You can apply for another tourist visa after 180 days.

Study / Are Masters in Poland free of charge for EE citizens? (English) [7]

Masters and Bachelors in Poland are free of charge in Public universities (except of extramural or evening studies) for all EU citizens when taught in Polish. I am afraid there are no free English studies (with few exceptions).

Work / Teaching English in Poland? I am American and I have the CELTA certification. [42]

"As long as it's not for teaching a foreign language! ZUS don't agree to UoD for that. It has to be a fixed task of some sort that you perform and then finish, not teaching. I've had clients who had to send suddenly demanded arrears to ZUS after being caught out on this type of contract..."

so I was partially right that teaching may not fit into umowa o dzieƂo.

Life / Polands new immigrants from the West. [36]

Small Christian country far away, on the edge of Europe. There should not be any complaints, except of traditional why to let foreigners work in Poland, when unemployment is so high.
