Food / Is brain-damaging vegan fad growing in Poland? [176]

but I have problems finding dishes that appeal to me.

I found certain solution. Firstly, I try to buy meat less frequently. Secondly, I buy less meat than usual. Thirdly, when I cook it, I eat only a part of the whole portion - the other part goes to the fridge or freezer for the next day or even days.. So, there is still meat in my meals but mostly very little - like half of what I used to eat before. The only exception is grill parties in the summer.

I still need to work on my sea food preferences - they are unsurmountable right now.

Life / Poor hygiene of people in public places in Poland [46]

even if you wash yourself with only water everyday and without using soap

The reason is that Poles are too busy - they work long hours and come back home in the evening after a hard day. It is natural that they aren`t too fresh during the day if they have no access to washing facilities. To avoid such situations, I always carry a small towel, soap and deodorant in my school bag. I also carry a replacement shirt and underwear just in case.

Travel / Are Polish people as unfriendly as Slovaks? [84]

slovaks can be dangerous what difference is that from trump saying mexicans are bringing crime?

The difference is fundamental. I used the phrase CAN BE which assumes the possibility of sth but it doesn`t have to be exhausted, it is only potential. While the phrase "BRINGING CRIME" is a resolute statement about sb ACTUALLY doing sth.

And I am fully entitled to claim that SLovaks can be dangerous. Did Slovaks ever APOLOGISE forJanosik and his dubious actions? Of course not, he is their national hero. Have they ever paid any compensations to Janosik`s victims, including my family? Of course not.

So, as long as they don`t apologise, I will consider them the heirs to Janosik tradition, i. e dangerous types.

Isn`t it so obviously simple????

Do you mean what I know now ???

decent my ass!

We know nothing about that part of your body but if you say so, we should believe you.

Life / Traditions in a Polish Home [10]

No. When talking about Polish culture, I never joke or yank the chain. I related an authentic situation which took place in late 1970s when my parents changed their tiny municipal flat for their own and bigger one. I still remember my mother`s utter disappointment when she saw that female neighbour instead of her husband on the threshhold. Yes, it was my mum who had gotten that idea, my dad, a scientist, didn`t care about such silliness. But he kept silent to avoid conflicts. :):)

It is also describved in this article so I wasn`t confabulating.

Travel / Poland in photo riddles - part 2 [1680]

In the meantime, a new one so that we will have a nice trio of difficult and medium-difficult riddles.

Why are the informative boards backwards in these classrooms?

History / The restoration of Polish cities from WW2 destruction [123]

on the right the project approved for realisation:

Yes, we can complain today that what professional architects wished for and what communists gave the green light to were sometimes very different. But we should be still happy they didn`t build socialist blocks there, as Ziemowit mentioned about other unlucky towns.

So, the Old Town was so badly ruined they pulled down almost everything, including front walls which were still standing and built new houses in the place.

Life / Traditions in a Polish Home [10]

Yes, I remember such a custom but it is probably forgotten as too misogynistic by now. The first visitor to the house must be a male - that brings luck. If it is a female, it is an omen of bad luck. My parents tried it out once and it worked. Unfortunately, instead of a male neighbour whom they asked to come round, it was his wife who appeared coz she was very jealous of her handsome husband and of what we might want of him. And later we had huge problems with that flat - e.g., we were regularly flooded by people who lived above us and forgot to turn off the tap or sth.

Travel / Are Polish people as unfriendly as Slovaks? [84]

they are racists and neonazis

You forgot neo-bolsheviks to whom I am also allergic here. Janosik, together with Robin Hood, was a precursor of traditional bolshevism - he robbed the rich to give the poor.

you are a decent person

Yes, what is wrong with being against racism, neonazism and neobolshevism? I know you are annoyed coz you profess neo-bolshevism yourself.

Travel / Are Polish people as unfriendly as Slovaks? [84]

Yes, I use historical examples to stereotype people but only in reference to Slovaks. Once my great great great ancestor, a count, was robbed by that scoundrel while crossing the border in the mountains. The story about that event was passed down in my family for centuries. I will never forget how Janosik wronged us.

Ziem, you are a genius coz I was going to mention Kołobrzeg (the town where I spent a year as a child) as well as socialsi thousing estates replacing old architecture. Great minds think alike.

Głogów - the same story as Elbląg. Barren ground in the centre for over 50 years. Until 21st century.

Yes, I admit, it is amazing that life comes back to historical places but still it looks a bit doubtful..... Or am I too fussy coz I am a perfectionist??

History / The restoration of Polish cities from WW2 destruction [123]

Now, after Poland joined the EU and is developing fast, local councils have money to restore their destroyed Old Towns which weren`t rebuilt after the war until today.

They are not faithful or at least similar copies of the pre-war architecture but free variations of pseudo historic style . I must say I don`t like this approach too much but stil it is better than a barren weed-grown terrain.

See Elbląg. The first picture shows a complete desert which was once a busy, densely populated Old Town. The war caused 98% destruction and the area remained desolate for over 50 years

Travel / Poland in photo riddles - part 2 [1680]

YOU did it to have a riddle!

haha no, I am too busy to play with rubbish bins or anything that I take a photo of. I just snap what I see passing by.

No, johhny, it wasn`t vacated - it is still occupied.

OK, probably you need a little more time.

So, meanwhile, let`s have sth else:

This is a primary school English course textbook - what is wrong with this exercise?:

Travel / Poland in photo riddles - part 2 [1680]

As for broken wheels - no, it wasn`t it.
Photoshopping - no, it doesn`t matter. On the left there was some obscene grafitti on the building wall and I covered it so that you could focus solely on the bin.

Prevent from using - nope.
To show its emptiness - sorry, no.

Another hint - the bin is close to the rubbish bin lock-up - all apartment blocks in Poland have one near the entrance door.

That would be reasonable if it rained but it didn`t so sorry, no.

Hint - the bin was completely empty so it was tipped over.

Life / I saw Polish nationalism today [263]

also a mod would see it as an insult not a diagnosis.

Yes, very clever of you.:):):) But be aware that other members can also use this tactics. hahahaha

Fact, facts and some more facts

Prove it. Show me one single post of mine in which I promote hurting people who disagree with me. Show me one post which contains such criminal fascist desires about hanging people you expressed yourself.

We are waiting. Not only me but other decent members too. You have been challenged now, darling. :):):)

News / Unfulfilled promises by PiS [559]

fake leftwingers

So decide at last if I am a true or fake leftwinger. :):):)

You sir are a class traitor.

By no means. When economy is concerned, I have always been conservative. I would support Korwin and his circles if they weren`t such nuts with other ideologies.

Yes,. it is going to erode Poland`s finances even more. But low wage earners will be happy. Initially - until it backfires at them one day.

Law / Laws on walking a dog in Polska [67]

It's very bad where I am

Yes, it might depend on the region. In my area almost everybody does - I am really surprised. But still some research must be done to establish if people fear fines or are so aware of the problem.

Food / Is brain-damaging vegan fad growing in Poland? [176]

And I should stop eating meat

Yes, coz it will delay this dementia which I have been observing in you for some time - you tend to forget more and more things. :):):)

Besides, why are you instantly getting so radical - nobody expects you to stop eating meat - itm is enough you cut down on it and everybody else does, too. Or are you so selfish you don`t care about your carbon footprint on this planet?? Do you have grandkids? What are you going to leave to them when you pass away? Barren planet?
