We know exactly where the Germans went. Fact is, USSR stole more German specialists than the US. (1600 in operation Paperclip vs 2500 in operation Osoaviakhim)

US just utilized them better, as they also had their own considerable brainpower reserves. Russia upping the information war and fake news generation massively in the last few days, I thought the recent sanctions were an empty gesture, but either they actually hit hard on their own, or srus already was in massive trouble as earlier projections showed, and this was just the last straw, pushing them over the edge, and causing them to accelerate their efforts in panic.
