Life / Racism in Poland - the future [558]

That trend exists (between education and liberal orientation), but it is not that linear and simple. Education can lead to different outcomes, depending on the institution that educates.

Conservative, elite type of schools and Universities I seriously doubt promote egalitarianism, quite the contrary. Actually it would be logical to assume that is their raison d'etre?

Love / Do Polish men make good husbands? [107]

Anyway the positive behaviour has to appear before the reward is given

Yes, but with operant conditioning you can form the wanted behavior. Skinner demonstrated it on a congress of APA I think learning the pigeon to walk making loops. Small reward after each step to form the desired behavior.

You know :)) (Bravo, yes, no, no, that way, ahaa, you're wonderful, yes, yes, YES!.....;))

Love / Do Polish men make good husbands? [107]

No, men are divine creatures. As an Electra I claim that!

I was joking with possibilities to abuse psychology in various fields as it is its practice.

I was thinking about symbolic rewards men usually don't complain about. (What were you thinking about? ;))

Like touch. Like light hug. Like head on his shoulder. Like holding his hand. Like kissing his eye.

Ok, if men are divine women are heroines :)))

Dogs are OK. Not possible to insult using them.

Love / Do Polish men make good husbands? [107]

I think that in the hands of a skilled wife, sometimes miracles are possible ;)

Women mostly know this intuitively, I had to learn it having the male profile of cognitive disabilities ;)

So, the recipe for all the men on the planet is the same. And women, but they tend to be more aware of manipulations ;)

1. Find the 'mine fields'. (possible punishment options)
2. Ask him to do what is needed. (washing the dishes, cleaning the windows, dusting off the library)
3. If he says no, dance around the mines. Skillfully! (raising the tension...)
4. Step on one when the time comes. Sadistically. (Punish!)
5. Stop dancing.
6. Then ask politely for repair, mowing, plowing, bank account. (Punishment avoidance expected)
7. Show you affection verbally and physically afterwards (after! the job is done). (REWARD!!! )

;)

Rewards and punishments are still the most economic way humanity learns. I tried during studies with my colleague and a good friend now, subtle classical or operant conditioning, (very intelligent guy), to test the hypothesis of possibility of conditioning him not to talk about his favorite subject (irony was the topic was behaviorism and Skinner he had great respect for) using subtle punishments like turning the music too loud, or interrupting the conversation with a phone call, turning the tap on to maximum so I couldn't hear him talking about conditioning. Consistently. He stopped talking about that subject after a while (very fast actually). I later asked him why don't you discuss behaviorism anymore with me? He didn't know the answer. He didn't notice the sabotage, yet stop communicating that, I told him what I did, he laughed. It works. They say that human brain is still primitive, easily associates two events close in time (Aristotle!!!), without our awareness. Like dogs or cats.

Use it.

Have in mind: Rewards are more efficient!!!!, but sometimes we simply cannot avoid some punishments.

:)))))

Life / Do you think that Polish people are rude? [951]

I noticed that Serbs seldom smile too

Unless you work behind some counter it is uncommon. If displayed by a man it often signals servility, which is not among the most desirable traits.

Too much smiling coming from a woman, means she is either going thorough manic episode or she wants few good men. Now. Like NOW.

Perhaps also because we have awful teeth like the complete East Europe, some thread exists with that thesis.

And maybe because we smile usually like this:

Life / Do you think that Polish people are rude? [951]

It may take more facial muscles to frown than it does to smile. So... keep smiling :)

That is what I usually hear from my clients (and friends). Smile per se, can according to some behaviorists improve mood temporarily, via facial muscle movements that trigger further reactions, but the other branches of psychotherapy see that more as some kind of hysterical phenomenon.

It is not easy to smile constantly while working, people who's jobs require smiling, like costumer service, are subjects of emotional labor that can cause a burn out or severe emotional exhaustion.

I understand rudeness, if emotional prostitution is not rewarded accordingly.

So, Poles and everybody else, be rude, if you are payed less ;)

Genuine feelings expressions are the sign of emotional maturity, and that is the healthiest reaction possible. Mechanisms used to overcome anger, sadness, fear are payed later. Expensive tricks.

History / POLAND: EASTERN or CENTRAL European country? [1090]

I was just sharing fantasies of one of Serbian postmodern writers, he was playing with the idea that both USSR and USA during cold war shared that cartographic conspiracy project to rule the world, and while USSR was a larger country, USA couldn't win the war using space (territory), USSR won that one, but using time, via technology. Writers dreaming was about USA winning the cold war taking over the more important dimension, time. Space was a wrong goal.

I wasn't serious when I wrote about conspiracy of cartographers, this writer gave a 'realistic' map where USSR and USA had a size of a peanuts for example, compared to South hemisphere. He hardly was seeking the truth, even if he was partially was relying on existing phenomenon.

The name of his essay is 'Virtual Cabala' (Svetislav Basara, 1996), now really :)))

History / POLAND: EASTERN or CENTRAL European country? [1090]

stigma attached to the East

The only relevant concept for this discussion.

Off topic:

I was thinking about one quote you posted, about hypocrisy being the illness of the West, and suspicion the illness of the East.
Isn't it expected and practical to be suspicious when you are talking to a hypocrite?

On the other hand, isn't it pragmatical to act as a hypocrite to somebody eaten by suspicion?

First sounds better ;)

History / POLAND: EASTERN or CENTRAL European country? [1090]

In German Map book from 60s that somehow ended in my father's library, published in West Germany, Russia (USSR) is classified as an Asian country only, not even partially part of Europe.

Germans are super.
I use few sites, British and German for the weather forecast, first are a good source, having problem with non existing climate on their isles, second for obsessive need to predict and know the details of everything and mark them down.

So, according to German wetter online, countries are classified like this:

Poland

So, Croatia is Sued (South) Europe

Montenegro is EAST Europe, while

Albania is again South Europe.

And they are in line.

I mean do Germans have something against geography?? ;)

Plus, the water temperature is always higher 20 km more north from me in Croatia and thankfully many km south to this place, in Albania.

Maps can be entertaining. I read in some novel about fantasm that included the conspiracy of cartographers all over the world to make the countries of Northern hemisphere in the books larger than they really are compared to the Southern hemisphere states. I still think there is something valuable in that idea ;)

History / POLAND: EASTERN or CENTRAL European country? [1090]

Usuallly eastern Europe is combined with hot women, booze and excitement.

Uninhibited, free spirits. Dream like experiences. From female perspective.

Central is just nature, old architecture and perversions

Choir of Vienna boys. They are the symbol for all mentioned. Kids (nature), sing in the Cathedral , tutored by few good men.

I don't understand why would somebody like to belong to central camp (as a style, incline to kitsch)?

Plus, slaves and masters, dominatrixes, blood, coprophilia etc., etc....

Poland according to this division could be both, Central and East Europe. And very lovely combo ;)

Love / Polish women are the most beautiful in the world! [1718]

Southern, you'd enjoy it here, one third Russian girls, only with their kids or alone, all MYLFs, husbands went back home to work to Russia, a third Serbian girls (no hope there), and last third Scandinavian, but older, retired population on the beach, finally living a life using their few years ago bought apartments here. Under the sun. They are really nice.

last few days two overbloomed German ladies? with their dry prune, but very hairy (that migrated from the head to the chest and beck) and old :) husbands are violating the homeostasis achieved on the beach. Drinking the damn beer on the beach, BEER!!! And in Kruegen! Wine, women wine! They could perhaps escape the stereotype.

;)

I saw only one Polish couple during the summer, total vanguard, hopefully more will come next year.

Love / Why do so many Polish girls dye their hair BLACK? [124]

Dark red hair is popular in Hungary since it gives a prnstar appearance close to the local mentality.

I like Hungarian Weltanschauung. I was in Budapest yearly for a decade (for completely wrong reasons, excursions with friends to see KUK scary monuments);). They are displaying same behavior in Vojvodina too.

My mother told me that while Serbian girls in school were still walking around aimlessly following the strict rules, the Hungarian girls were on their bikes riding very fast to corn fields where dates were waiting. Age 13. Period 60s. Location, Vojvodina town.

Very liberal. Typical complaint of Hungarian mother (Vojvodina area): ' I don't have money. I can't buy my daughter a new dress. No dress, no sex (lover, švaler) for my Erszebet' ;)

My mother's childhood memories.

So, back to black hair. If I would be a man I would run after brunettes. They are blond, black and red at the same time, depending on the intensity of light and shades ;)

Although I understand your preference toward blond tanned, and pale dark hair girls.

Love / Why do so many Polish girls dye their hair BLACK? [124]

Or blonde with very tanned skin from solarium.

Very popular here. Like Hue Hefner's wives, a recipe how to learn fast counting to 100 ;)

The black dyed hair can also be seen, usually among more rural population, and older women. When the Elviras mistresses of the Dark are living in urban areas that usually means trouble for men, as you say- end of hopes. Or among teenagers tormented by adolescence crises, with lost concept of fun in their lives.

Red hair is interesting, yesterday I was sitting with natural red girl, full of freckles, charming, she turned the 'flaw' into the quality that 'payed' back very very well :)

Do Polish girls like to have raid hair, and are there a lot of them with natural red pigmentation?

News / Tragedy in Russia - shouldn`t Poland declare national mourning? [41]

Don't forget our Slavic Serbian brothers. ;)

Don't forget the sisters :)

Indeed the Tragedy, that mimics the worst horrors, Itar -Tass says, with only 3 minutes that passed until it was fully under water, drowned kids in the dancing area, concert for them, fight for the place on the rescue boats, and all that followed by the music that wasn't stopping while old ship was rapidly sinking down to the bottom.

Travel / Best places to visit in Poland [91]

You are right, but they might come in handy, they are practical, good with numbers (simple calculus ;)), excellent in reinigung and putzen, they don't talk much, and they are ueberhoeflich. Strong and hardworking, fleissig. The only problem is they shouldn't be together, they tend to be creative in groups (it usually gravitates around creating new borders for their Reich...) ;););)

Singled out they are perfect ;)

Why not Germany? It is close.
Belarus seems like more dangerous place for one unchained wife, than Germany.
Women are safe there. Sex will not happen. Shops are full. Potent.

Or am I wrong?

UK, Ireland / Polish and East European prostitutes in the UK [240]

by a single view

There is some other way to do it??? ;)

Now seriously I have only ONE friend, who's darkest secret is that he has to interact physically (like touch) with the woman to achieve it, we label that - erectile dysfunction.

germanic women.

Even I felt that painful fall of non existing gun. Bad.
They need Slavic discipline, 30 kg each down, maybe it could help?

Genealogy / Former Poland PM Donald Tusk - A Kashub or a German. [71]

I don't say anything, I just read relevant literature on the topic. Third generation feels American, second both, first is loyal to the country of birth.

Oversimplified it sounds like that. Of course, exceptions are always present. That is the trend observed by researches.

Pennboy, I forgot that you were born in Poland. You are not falling in any of the categories they offered, because you were socialized in American system and born abroad.

I realize that you really can't be both

Why not? You belong to both. It is typical in development of social identity of the first generation with US citizenship. Dual social identity. Your posts imply that you really adopted both identities. Next generation, your kids will according to empirical research on that topic adopt most probably only American identity.

Genealogy / Polish DNA? Poles have the most genes in a group includes Balts, Macedonians and Greeks. [264]

Slavs have been living next to Greeks for approximately 1,400 years, long enough to get to know your neighbour, right!

Nick the Greek you are making the established homesostasis unstable on this forum. We all respect that, otherwise we would have nuclear war.
Local disputes and family quarrels are not tolerable ;)

from a male perspective the slavic situation is rather satisfying.

I will confirm that satisfaction, or situation, experienced on the female side is intensive and frequent.
Brothers Slavs deserve nothing but admiration. Sometimes love too ;)

Love / How do Polish men feel about gender equality? [780]

many if not most women in post-communist countries are brought up as individuals

I agree completely. Nobody insists nor insisted that much on genders here. From generation of my parents to mine. I was raised to be Ok person and more or less choose the rest. It was a common practice in upbringing.

I think the right one.

many if not most "Western" women, who read, write, and talk about women's rights and empowerment and victimhood all day long, demanding this, that, and the other (which BTW they already have, but let's not spoil their fun), seem very insecure in their femininity, paranoid about their roles in society, and emotional wrecks generally ;-)

Exactly the same thought was on my mind few days ago after reading on that topic :) The West- East difference is the crucial one.
Those 2 feminism are actually two different phenomena.

Love / How do Polish men feel about gender equality? [780]

Spit those words out, please. My first 29 years of life could be described as "missed opportunities".

What exactly did you miss?

What opportunities do you have now?

I am not provoking, just trying to understand you :)

I can't spit those words out , it would be hypocritical because I enjoyed fruitful periods of it. That system labeled liberal socialism in Yugoslavia gave to me and others many opportunities people today simply don't have. To live, not survive for instance.

1. If you are younger than I am, you are carrying my baggage after me

That seems more like a cultural norm regulating inter generation behavior than gender equity.

2. If your position is lower than mine, you open the door for me

Again, I don't see here the link to gender equality problem.
There are other ways to demonstrate power over subordinates in the West too. More subtle ones, but they are existing. (giving the word, greeting the guests in the meetings)

3. If you were a Chinese woman and I were a Westerner, and our positions and age were equal, you should pay respect to me.

You are criticizing Chinese system, not the gender equality.
That is something that says a lot about both sides in the tale (Western confidence in their dominance and Chinese awareness of their reality).

4. We are travelling in coed sleeping train car, so you need sleep in your T-shirt and shorts, and do not complain I'm watching you

As I can recall, as a teenager I traveled once to Italy with two Belgian boys in the same train car, I was watching them sleeping, one was without a T shirt, couldn't help it ;)

What is wrong with the being seen in a T shirt, we are all almost naked on the beach....

Completely agree. :-)

;)

The origins of modern day feminism have their roots in communism. I highly recommend the book; "Red Feminism: American Communism and the Making of Women's Liberation." By Kate Weigand. It is academically well written with tons of footnotes. Many feminist leaders like Betty Friedan were admitted commies (my daughter told me that her gender studies class omitted this fact). So was/is the feminist philosophy.

Zimmy, It seems to me that giving women right to vote and property rights have their roots in common sense and minimum belief in justice.

I understand your discontent with the problems you perceive in a society you live in. I am not fighting the differences.
I cannot negate the connection between communism and feminist philosophy in some periods, I greet the consequences of the practice in ex socialist countries, but disagreeing mostly with feminist theorizing like those of Beauvoir, Kristeva, Irigaray for creating the problem, planting it deeper.

Modern feminism is something I know nothing about, not being interested in it, so having no idea what was the development of the phenomenon in the US, I can't comment.

( as you might have noticed, I prefer the way men think than women... unless they have male cognitive abilities, few women here luckily do )

Thank you for the reference :)

Love / How do Polish men feel about gender equality? [780]

At least slavic women tend to avoid the hooks of feminism.

God blessed us with communism ;)
It insisted on equality (salaries, education and job opportunities). Women in those systems learned their lessons the hard way (expected successful professional life with the obligations in family inherited from the previous system) ;)

I didn't have any idea that is still an issue of some relevance (Ok, we have few feminist NGO's funded by the West to promote it), until I saw discussions here (so, I understand the male resistance to new practices in a way). I never felt like a member of Second Sex in a sense that I was objectified more than men (that happens, but it is not at all uncommon to see the objectification of men either), that i was conceptualized and determined primarily through my biology, that I have less opportunities , that I lack any freedom in comparison to men, or the ways to express myself.

Those are perhaps different ways, but they are available.

My experience, even in a society that is dominated by ostensibly ultra macho discourse, says that men perceive women as equal, but irresistibly different :)) with variations in expectations regarding some roles (usually open for negotiations ).

I want to say that I feel completely comfortable in my female shape, and if the thing works why should we repair it? :)

So, I also think Slavs solved the problem in, for both sides, satisfying manner.
