News / Polexit? Almost half of the Poles believe that Poland would be better off outside of the EU [548]

A union is for teamplayers!

Whereas Germany and France are playing softball with Russia and their politicians profit from back dealings with Russia, at the expense of endangering Eastern EU members' interests.

It was a great opportunity-at the time. Times change, and the EU is now administered by self-loathing persons who push self-destructive policies onto their member states.

There is hope, however; Britain's best and brightest future now lies with nationalism and conservatism, with the restoration of a sense of purpose, national pride, and national identity, and all of this is best accomplished outside of the self-loathing, globalist EU.

News / PiS candidates are losing positions in EU Parliament. Will they keep power in Poland? [358]

As for now, the chances for such a situation are real coz PiS won 48 seats while the opposition 51.

Parliamentary majority can disregard Senate completely, so it doesn't matter much, other than whatever few personal decisions they can make.

Now, the most important questions right now are those in my opinion:
- is KO's result good enough for Schetyna to remain party leader and keep the current "total opposition" approach
- Will PSL be happy with 4 more years in opposition, or will they try to shift towards some more or less formal coalition with the government. Adding PSL and PiS votes won't change much in Sejm, but can flip a lot of local governments.

- what plans do Lewica have for expansion? Will they at first try to gain more ground in anti-PiS opposition space by going more moderate, or will they contest PiS directly, by trying to outdo them in the socialist and welfare recipient electorate.

News / Poland Parliamentary Elections 2019 [93]

Recent poll:

stats

---Dramatis personae---

pis

PiS (Law and Justice)
Leader:

kacz

Catholicism and social solidarity. Jarosław Kaczyński is a volcel cat lover, good catholic, big fan general de Gaulle and polish interwar Sanacja. He has a strange power of somewhat-long-term planning, that's why people call him the Brilliant Strategist. Kaczyński genuinely cares about the little people, that's why he bribes them with their own money.

po

Koalicja Obywatelska (Citizen Coalition)
Leader:

schet

PO (Civic Platform) invited some plankton and enslaved Nowoczesna party. Minor visual rebranding, but it's still the same hollow party of power (but without the power). No ideas, no convictions. Pro-EU orientation is the only thing they stand for. The current leader, Grzegorz "Porcelain Grin" Schetyna, is HATED by his own electorate and a big chunk of his own party. Tries to replicate Kaczyński's tactics from last elections, but fails at every step. Hiding behind a marionette with a friendlier face involves not showing your own ugly mug, you stupid schmuck!

Smaller non-coalitions.
These parties technically are unified entities. Which makes electoral treshhold lower, only 5%. It also makes subventions impossible to split. Leader takes all. This will cause some drama...

lewica

Lewica (the Left)
Leader:

lew

SLD (Alliance of Democratic Left) - Old commies looking for a new identity. They rule this circus and they will get all the money from subventions. Their leader is a muppet-looking man with a large collection of pastel sweaters.

Wiosna (Spring) - one-man gay show run by Robert Biedroń. Probably going to be absorbed by SLD soon. It seems that Biedroń just wanted a ticket to Brussels and he's not really interested in real politics.

Razem (Together) - Starbucks Marxists from big cities, progressives and SJWs. Used to distance itself from SLD a lot, now they enter a strange disadvantageous alliance.

konf

Konfederacja (the Confederation)
Leader:

korw

Wolność (Freedom) - The man, the meme, the legend, Janusz Korwin-Mikke and his crew. Libertarian darwinian monarchists. Let's turn back time to la belle epoque but with even more drugs and guns. Socially conservative... kind of... it's like... quantum culturally catholic morality. Cheating on your wife is not that bad as long as you don't get caught and avoid scandal.

RN (National Movement) - Nationalists. Surprisingly sensible bunch with a bad rep.

KKP (Confederation of Polish Crown) - Unironic cathotaliban plus some free market and guns. A miniscule group centered around Grzegorz Braun, a documentary director mostly known for his anti-semitism and love for Star-Wars. Claims the Galactic Republic were the bad guys. Dodges questions about rumored Yoda's jewish roots.

psl

PSL
Leader:

heh

PSL (Polish People's Party) - Ancient agrarian mafia. Fighting and slowly losing the fight for rural electorate with PiS. Chosing a townie as a leader was a bad move.

Kukiz'15 - Syncretic "Fvck the System" movement started by an old rock star falls apart and joins an ancient mafia structure. This is just sad...

Language / Short Polish<->English translations [1040]

In Polish, "viva!" as an exclamation for "long live" is spelled "wiwa"?

No. There is not such a word in Polish.

So, "Long live Duda! Long live the Third Republic"?

No. "Wiwat Duda! Wiwat Trzecia Rzeczpospolita!"

History / Why do Polish people hate to be called Eastern European? [120]

What I dont get is why they always have to say they were under zabory instead of being prt of the russian empire.

Because term zabory means each part of the Poland annexed in 1772-95 becoming part of Imperial Russia, Prussia, or Austria.

News / Poland's post-election political scene [4080]

Main division line is city vs rural dwellers. Cities vote for KO, rural areas for PiS. This is a problem for PiS, 'cause most of the seats of presidents and mayors of big cities will remain in the hands of opposition. Not that much of big deal from purely political perspective, but those seats are quite prestigious.

News / Poland's post-election political scene [4080]

- ruling party (PiS) won the elections, but they clearly hoped for a better result. Still, they've definitely gained more ground compared to previous local elections which is enough for them to claim it was a success

- main opposition (PO) went as a coalition with some leftist groups and they managed to more or less keep their possessions. They've lost centrists voters to PiS, but gained most of the far-left electorate

- as a result of the above, far-left and post-commie parties got wrecked, despite previous polls showing they will make a resurgence

- PSL (people's/farmers' party) lost many of their holdings, but managed to keep the solid third place. Although it's pretty much broadly accepted, that their previous exceptionally good election result was based on low-level election fraud, thus nothing really changed electorate-wise.

- independents and Kukiz'15 (Polish version of M5S) got around 6% each and will not matter much in bigger picture, although they might just be enough to tip the scales in some places,

And also worth noting: record high voter turnout for this type of elections.

Giant statue of Jesus acting as a wifi hotspot in Poland

Poles are a very practical people, and installed a bunch of wifi signal amplifiers into the crown of the statue that improved the signal in the entire area.

News / Poles march against Mandatory poisoning by vaccines [202]

Govts exist to protect society as a whole, not individuals per se.

So lefists really are that far gone, huh? Maybe they should warn the patients that complications may occur, instead of reassuring them that everything is 100% safe.

First result you get after googling "death from vaccines".
vaccine-injury.info
I'm not saying they can't benefit society; I'm saying it should never be mandatory, and that the risks should be acknowledged.

Again, liberal science at work.

the chances of dying from the disease it protects against if everyone is NOT vaccinated is massively greater.

Everyone poses a danger to society. For instance, there are a lot of mentally unstable people who might turn sociopath and start murdering at any moment, but we don't institutionalize them because they might harm someone some day. Or people can kill other people in traffic accidents, but we don't ban cars. Of course, you lefists would like to ban everything.

News / Poles march against Mandatory poisoning by vaccines [202]

So are people fine with vaccination being mandatory? It doesn't happen often, but people can and do die from vaccines, and it makes sense to think that children would be far more vulnerable.

But instead, we balance that risk against the benefits to the individual and everyone else of a literate society.

Seems like liberal science is overtaking this thread, I see.

If your kid dies from a vaccine, the doctor isn't even held accountable (not that it would still matter much at that point). As I understand it, if something goes awry during a vaccination, which is rare, but still can happen, no one would be held lawfully responsible. There are numerous claims that vaccines can and do cause complications, reports of infant deaths right after vaccination; it is rare, but it can happen.

Hopefully we can one day vaccinate babies immediately after their birth and spare them from most diseases.

We don't ban or vaccinate homosexuals just because they have a greater chance to spread HIV, because you see it's immoral to force a peaceful person into doing something against his will, especially if the person is way too young to give consent.

This is precisely the principle you lefists were never able to grasp: possible greater good in the future does not justify coercion of the peaceful in the present. The worst nightmares on this Earth happened because people believed they were building a better tomorrow at the expense of suffering of today.

News / Roma community feels discriminated in Poland [40]

It dawned on me that refugees are the new Gypsies for these NGOs dispersing tolerance everywhere like anthrax. The new victim class.

Overall I found that the more experience people had with gypsies, the less tolerant they are. Worst are do-gooders from big cities.

Law / Weapons laws in Poland. Carrying a concealed handgun? [918]

No, of course not, nor do I think their skin color has anything to do at all with how violent someone is or is not.

The skin colour is not some accidental trait. It is determined by the genetics. And being prone to violence is also determined by ones genes. As well as the maximum IQ level one can hope to achieve.

The set of all these traits is known as a race.

News / EU triggers Article 7, could strip Poland of voting rights [91]

Think of the courts! Think of the poor judges! Think of democracy!

Meanwhile in Poland: mini van driver responsible for the death of 5 of his passengers in a crash sentenced to 3 years.
A judge who was convicted for sexual assault got "suspended", which means he is getting half of his normal pay (which still ends up being at least 3 times the minimum wage) for doing nothing, and is demanding 50K PLN from a news website for "mental anguish" they caused him by publishing articles about the case. He had to pay 10K to the victim.

They should all be hanged in the windows of the courts, maybe the next ones would think twice.

In the next chapter of our story, Poland is getting scared of being taken over by an infamous "The Bear", so they turn to the west for help. This time it's not Mutti, but Mom. If only Freud knew about Poland back then.

Of course plumbing is an important matter for the citizens of the UK. It comes as no surprise that they are seeking to save the future of their toilets.

News / EU triggers Article 7, could strip Poland of voting rights [91]

And the funny thing is, much of this recent rise in popularity of leading party in the polls is because of Timmermans' and Verhofstadt's constant chimp outs against Poland.

I mean, I get what their plan was. And it wasn't even bad idea at the beginning.
You see, currently ruling party won the elections with respectable advantage, and since post-commie leftist parties self-destroyed themselves and managed to just barely NOT pass over the threshold, all of this combined with D'Hondt method of allocating seats gave PiS absolute majority in the Sejm. So the plan was:

1) street protests all day, every day
2) add pressure from European Union
3) demand snap elections
4) best case scenario: form a new "everyone against PiS", pro-EU, nice and obedient government, worst case: force PiS to form a minority government and block them at every turn, whenever possible.

And sure, there was a non-zero chance it might have succeed, but the street protests fizzled out after few months and pressure from EU turned out to be rather ineffective. So everyone assumed that EU will quickly make amends and the opposition will switch to playing a long game, by proposing some constructive programs in order to regain hearts and minds for the next election in four years.

Except, that didn't happen - EU doubled down, basically calling anything that the Polish government do anti-democratic and opposition showed that it is incapable of doing anything other than b!tching and moaning.

So in short, EU is doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results. Not a sign of good mental health.

Okay how will the judicial "reform" actually address that?

This is not an issue that should concern EU in any way

Its kinda like your boss telling you that you will not be getting paid since you decided to start exercising.

And yes, I know that EU wants to be able to meddle and control internal issues, they want that very much.
