News / What should Poland do with the problem of Belarus? [1800]

@amiga500, calm down. Turn off emotional rants and start thinking. It may do wonders for you, trust me.

Lukashenko did that because Belarusian Polonia was used instrumentally, and which is more important: clumsily, against him by the current Polish government. They've made one stupid decision after another. And for PiS government a concept of real politik is as abstract as flying to a pig.

I wouldn't mind using the political strength of Belarussian Polaonia in a constructive way but using it in a stupid way by inadequate politicians and with no real attainable goals in mind is a crime.

History / What do Poles owe to Jews? [586]

I would revert this question to: what do Jews owe to Poles?

Jews, over the course of the centuries, have found themselves as an intermediary between Polish nobility and Polish peasants.

They were useful for the nobility for two reasons:

#1 Nobles didn't engage in trade, which was considered inappropriate for them, so they had their Jews do those things for them

#2 Nobles didn't want to engage with peasant directly and preferred to delegate that task to someone else

Given this somewhat privileged position over peasants and having some special business permissions and privileges granted by the nobility, Jews have started to abuse it and engage in malversations, speculation, using their monopolies to dictate artificially high prices for goods, and they would also plot to destroy any rising economic competition from lower classes. Soon they became hated by peasants and considered bloodsuckers and their safety was based solely on the nobility and their armed forces.

So yes, Jews owe a great deal to Poles with a peasant background. But they were also a tool in more powerful hands until the collapse of the monarchy in Poland that is.

Nothing. Belarus, just like Ukraine, should be kept independent as a buffer zone between Poland and Russia. Poland shouldn't care about its internal politics or the quality of the lives of its citizens. It's not our business.

Poland has a great opportunity to used former soviet republics to block each other's expansion in a continuous clinch. Of course in order to do that we need bolder politicians to be in charge.

News / Years of Poland in the EU - assessment of pros and cons [1158]

"Denmark is the first country in Europe to say that refugees can be sent back to parts of Syria"

The "Independent" "journalist" is justifiably angered with them.

Don't those Danes know that the plan is that taking in "refugees" should be a one-way population swap?

History / POLISH AND RUSSIAN FRIENDSHIP WILL LAST FOREVER [513]

@pawian, go to Russia and find out for yourself.

And be sure that would you say and do exactly the same stuff you would do in Poland. You know: discuss politics with common folks especially in public places, criticize local politicians and their decisions, speak Polish, drive a car with Polish plates, just relax and be yourself etc...

A personal experience is the best teacher :-)

@Miroslaw, sure and yet ordinary people have nothing to say in Russia that is ruled by an ex-KGB mafia. Not like they had anything to say ever before in the history of Russia...

Stalin or tsars like Ivan the Terrible - no difference.

True, there are similarities between them. Ivan was unique in cruelty and total control of his country for his times, no other country in Europe had a tyrant of his magnitude at that time.

And he probably wouldn't feel out of place in the XX century Soviet Union. He was a favourite Tzar of J.Stalin and the only one that was allowed during the Stalinist era.

And I'm not saying that Russians didn't have that collective 'must obey and suffer' mentality before.

But there's also no denying the fact that Lenin and Stalin took it to the next level and mastered 'the art' of genocide and mass indoctrination with modern methods like no one before them.

Communists not only killed millions of them but also made spam out of the brains of most of the remaining population.

History / POLISH AND RUSSIAN FRIENDSHIP WILL LAST FOREVER [513]

And what is traditional Russians?

Those who lived and existed on those lands before being methodically replaced by homo sovietus in the last century.

A good test is to ask common folk in Russia what do they think about Lenin, Stalin, and the Soviet Union.

Those who answer that two of the greatest mass murderers in the history of humankind and a criminal organization they created called the USSR contributed to the greatness of their nation are homo sovietcus.

And those who see that for what they were are Russians.

History / POLISH AND RUSSIAN FRIENDSHIP WILL LAST FOREVER [513]

The problem is that there's almost no Russians left.

A modern society of a Russian Federation doesn't have much in common with traditional Russians.

A standard citizen of a Russian Federation is an unreformed homo sovieticus ruled by a KGB officer and his clique.

@pawian

without being obvious about it

What I meant was sending signals to initiate the action on the man's side. Not being 'womanhandled' by your future wife :-)

I don't know what I should do with him.

Just make your move. Women know how to make a move without being obvious about it. And the guy will think that he picked you. Yes, most of us are such fools :-)

News / Bitcoin Embassy Launches In Poland's Capital Warsaw [37]

@Cargo pants

Everyone's got a different tolerance for risk-taking and $50 000 is a very good profit on one coin.

Not only you can buy Tesla with Bitcoin but the company will also hold on to them and not convert them to fiat currency. This will elevate the price of bitcoin even further up.

I wanted to buy a Dodge Challenger Hellcat for my next car but now I'm also seriously considering a new Tesla S.

@Lenka, I've bought it for $9000 last year but I'm still not selling it yet. Just pulled out my initial investment and still expecting a new all-time high this year.

Anyway, if you think you missed the bitcoin train there are other altcoins, like Ether, with substantial market cap and growth potential. Just yesterday PayPal announced that it will be using the ethereum blockchain.

Found a post with early bitcoin adopters from 2014, heh.

Bitcoin back then fluctuated between $300-$800 and we all thought that was a lot. Right now it's on an all-time high $58.800 :-)

News / Germany After the EU and the Russian Scenario - future of the European Union and Poland [310]

Basically Germany is usurping its superiority over the EU legal institutions

Germany is the main sponsor of this socialist dystopia (well, a lot of their sponsorship is at the expense of euro-drained south European economies but nevertheless) so it's a dangerous move for the whole leftists EU project.

That's the second time a German constitutional court has positively surprised me. And let's not forget the anti-lockdown pressure* the Germans put on Merkel's lockdown policy lately.

In face of those facts, I'll have to readjust my mostly negative views about modern Germany.

"Germany's top court blocks approval of EU £640bn Covid fund - 'Violates the constitution'"

There's still some sanity in Germany. German constitutional court blocks a common EU debt and further federalization of Europe.

News / New "Polish memorial" in Berlin [316]

the vatican kilked way more people like burning witches

Another bull...that is another unconfirmed 'fact' from @Strzelec35. It is widely known that the protestant countries burned witches en masse, not the Catholic ones.

For example, In Germany ~300 000 'witches' perished, and in the UK ~70 000 of them. Poland on the other hand was known as "the country without stakes," *

The simple truth is that Poles were always much more normal than Western Europeans.

History / What makes you feel Polish? [167]

Being a stubborn individualist makes me feel Polish.

And the fact that I have childhood friends that I visit only once every few years and we still connect instantly like we saw each other last time just yesterday.

he has not really said much about his foreign policy ideas

Let's give him a chance to do so then. He is not a chancellor yet anyway.

The dream of a fully united Europe is one we all share, don't we?

No, we don't. I believe in Europe of independent nation-states connected together with a free trade agreement.

He looks to me like a cheerful German version of Francois Hollande who was known for his lack of charisma. If they both share that same trace this may be good for Poland.

Some sources also claim that he is an EU federalist, which is terrible in any case.

Armin Laschet...lol! What a name

I've heard that in Germany he was nicknamed 'turkish Armin' because of his love for multikulti.

France and Germany into the same basket (...) As if they were twins

Actually, I see the Franco-German duo more like a couple than twins.

Gerry pays for the upkeep and the expensive taste of his girlfriend Franny. And in return, loudmouth Franny says on public forums things that Gerry cannot say himself due to his troubled past.

The British free market approach is much more comfortable to the German mind-set

That may be, but also a stern British opposition to the federalization of the EU was against "EU core" long-term plans for Europe. And also with its independent stance and special privileges (negotiated by the one and only Margaret Thatcher) within the EU Britain was setting a "bad example" for the rest of the members.

All I can say is that I'm happy for Britain that they left but that fact also leaves us with a much worse European union...

America as a country has interests first and foremost, not personal sympathies and antipathies.

Both republicans and democrats were in favor of sanctions since 2019. And nothing has changed in the case of NS II.
