History / Terrible past for the Jews in Poland? [930]

We must ask ourselves, "what would Jesus do?"

Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall becalled the children of God.

History / Terrible past for the Jews in Poland? [930]

Okay, it's true Jews believe they are chosen by God but they are no worse about feeling superior than Christians or Muslims. All three religions share this egocentric realization and clash from time to time which is the case with inflated egos. This is when Christians should be like Jesus and forgive.

It's true. People are just cliquey. Jews and Poles are just another example of cliquey people. Welcome to reality!

News / Police and priests save homeless in Poland [29]

Let them earn their help by mowing my yard :)

I think it's a brilliant idea. I would look at them in a totally new light if they did this. It would be a positive experience for them. People would appreciate what they do.

If they aren't errant children why do they need 'outreach?' At least mowing yards would give them something to do and society would be grateful they stepped up to the plate performing a vital community service. Wtg homeless!

Around here the hired helps look like cussing tramps so why not have them all mow yards? If they cannot find anything to do there are trillions of blades of grass they can cut.

The homeless should be required to adopt neighborhoods where they are required to mow an trim everyone who lives in that neighborhood's yard. That way they have a job and no one but them has to mow. This should pay for their shelter rent.

News / Poland fines singer for bashing Bible [159]

Was listening to her singing, maybe she should be fined for being sinfully annoying.

She could be fined for not knowing bible stuff but if people were fined for that, the municipalities would have a huge windfall.

Oh, and we mustn't forget the Patriot Act while we're at it.

Patriot Act is the best thing this country has ever done. Long needed, too.

She does have the right to say it even though she hasn't researched and doesn't know what she is talking about. Only on certain days was it alright to get drunk. These were festivals devoted to Bacchus. Rest of the time most people were sober. Christians would have looked down on Bacchus. They were not pagans in that sense though they did have a cult of Mary.

She's a singer so what can you expect?

Being fined for something like this is silly but someone should inform the singer the Apostles were not drunk. They drank wine that was very watered down as was the custome back then since plain water made people sick.

Actually Bible people were most likely sober. Drinking to the point of drunkness was not acceptable in the Roman Empire.

USA, Canada / Poles in America: How do you pronounce your Polish surname? [128]

I abmit it is annoying when people say cow instead of kov. It's like, "no cows live in this house!" The only one who ever pronounced my last name properly was one grad student who went to boarding school in England and spent a lot of time in Europe and could speak several languages fluently.

Nothing except the hand of friendship.

They don't even owe them that.

Life / Poland: worst teeth in the world? [98]

It's not just juice but milk can also rot a baby's teeth but it's only if you give an infant a bottle of milk to sleep with. It's because the saliva in the mouth dries out at night and saliva plays a role in controlling plaque causing bacteria in infants. If an infant is old enough to cut his first tooth, substitute water for the juice or milk if he must have a nighttime bottle.

Flouride in water is a bad idea because it causes brain damage.

Brushing isn't always enough. You have to brush the gums around each tooth for 16 seconds. Then you floss or use a paroxa brush between the teeth.

Life / Poland: worst teeth in the world? [98]

That chart doesn't have so much to do with dental care provided by dentists as it does the teeth of 12 year olds. Kids can go to the dentist once every 6 months and need fillings every time. The chart isn't clear on how much is decay and how much are fillings. In order to receive a filling, the kid would need to see a dentist first which means they have access to care.

Apparently, something is causing the teeth of Polish kids to go bad early. Could be lack of dental hygeine or poor diet. Could be genetic resulting in weakened enamel. Parents might not be teaching kids to care for their teeth properly.

Life / For all the black people living in Warsaw, where do you get your hair cut? [39]

parisians

Poles might not be used to outsiders because of the iron curtain, but it's not the only place. There are plenty of people like that all over the world. When you are not used to seeing an Asian or a black, you stare. Same with blacks and Asians who do not see outsiders that often. They stare and make comments about what's different, what they are not accustomed to.
