News / Time to clean the swamp - dePiSification of Poland [324]

-also, all criminal acts commited by PIS have to be examined and punished.

Investigations against PiS gangsters or their stooges which were terminated by PiS controlled prosecutors a few years ago are brought back into legal proceedings again. Excellent!!!!!

Read how PiS attorneys "dealt" with one case:
After nearly five years, the case of the ABW officer who hit two protesting women in his BMW in Warsaw's Śródmieście district is back. The man has been charged with exposing a person to danger - an act that carries a penalty of up to three years in prison.

Two protesting women were hit at the end of October 2020 at the intersection of Puławska and Goworka streets in Warsaw . One of the hit women was treated in hospital, the other had no serious injuries. Within a few hours, the services determined that the BMW that "drove into the crowd of protesters" was driven by a member of the Internal Security Agency, Paweł K. Initially, the spokesman for the coordinator for special services did not want to comment on the case, but under the influence of public opinion, he admitted that "the incident occurred outside the officer's working hours".

The case went to the Warsaw District Prosecutor's Office, which was to charge the man under Article 160 of the Penal Code. However, for unknown reasons, a decision was made to "raise" the rank of the case. In this way, the documents went to the District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw. The Office changed the classification of the act and decided that the case would not be investigated, because "it is only a misdemeanor, not a crime"

History / Crazy 1990s in Poland - transition from communism to capitalism - stories [111]

There were kids at my class though that couldn't even read the Cyrillic

I remember one scene from grade 6 (Russian class started in grade 5) - our female teacher of Russian screams at one boy (two years older than me coz he had repeated twice) coz he is unable to read the Russian text. She was very toxic as a teacher and we were all fed up with her. That negative experience put me off studying Russian in a more profound way. I just didn`t care to know it better - I could read and write Cyrillic and it sufficed well.

BTW, that teacher was the wife of our local dentist, a good specialist, a quiet and unassuming man.

Congratulations.

You see, gumi?? Why are you such an imbecile??
Why are all rightists and PiS voters such pathetic hopeless imbeciles??????

Is it in the water they drink???

I haven`t met a clever rightist in my life yet. That is one of the reasons I reject and combat them coz stupidity in an adult person is a huge sin. It is their fault they are still stupid when mature.

Yes, it is my future when I am so senile that my body size will shrink twofold. :):):)

I have come across your photograph

The one taken in the African jungle??? Don`t depend on it so loyally - the image was blurred due to high humidity in the air and monkeys in trees which were throwing objects at the photographer.

she was only 50 at the time of the incident.

You didn`t mention it earlier so blame yourself for the misunderstanding. You also didn`t mention it all happened 10 years ago. It was your double fault, then. I thought you talked about last year when you were 70 and your Polish friend, too.
Be more precise next time. Are you able to???

also why would it anyway?

Oh la la. A homo sovieticus took voice in your post. ):):).

unpleasant event took place less than 10 years ago,

This means you are relating prehistory. Which means you peddle bs. :):):)

not one broken bone. So dream on,

Why dream? I only suggested a hypothetical situation, without any negative emotional engagement on my part. I don`t wish you any accidents, I only said they happen to people and if you break a hip at your age, you will have a problem for the rest of your life.

Quite logical, indeed. But still your there sounded so cold and indifferent compared to your passionate defence of England aka GB from my posts in other threads.
Me, personally, would never call Poland there no matter where I would be staying, even in Hell. Ha!!!

History / Recommended Poland's history books [257]

And the finale of the informing wife story was:

After the Institute of National Remembrance archives revealed in 2002 that the writer's widow had collaborated with the Security Service, his only daughter, Ewa Beynar-Czeczott, refused to consent to further reissues of Jasienica's works and filed a motion with the court to take away the inheritance rights (including copyrights ) from the agent's son from her first marriage, Marek O'Bretenny, stating that the mother from whom he inherited was unworthy of inheriting after Paweł Jasienica, as she had acted to the detriment of her husband . Until the dispute was resolved, Jasienica's works remained unpublished. On 28 December 2006, the court granted exclusive copyrights to the writer's daughter; while Jasienica's stepson was to receive his stepfather's book collection. This paved the way for the reissue of Jasienica's works.

She was operated, botched operation, and the following attempts were unsuccessful.

That is normal at this age. When you break your hip, you will also live in pain to the end of your life which will happen soon. Just like to my dad in law. He died after a year.

Polish health care

is excellent compared to American one but don`t expect wonders. People are nor immortal.

She wasn't in a corridor,

Exactly. Ptak was lying or reminiscing on the long gone past aka communist times.

if you are happy why are you lingering in Polish Forums

Exactly. Everything in America sucks: their healthcare system, their opinion fora, their safety, their police, their Pres, their food etc etc.
That is why they come here like for a breathe of fresh air!!! Ha!!!!

Law / Polish Police and Their Tactics [237]

When fit and properly trained, Polish police don`t need to use guns like American officers who first shoot and then ask questions.

The incident took place on February 10 in Głuszyca. - The police were called to a store where a man was threatening a saleswoman.
A two-person patrol went to the scene and detained the man. At this point, however, events took an unusual turn.

- When the patrol had already detained the man, two more residents of the Wałbrzych district appeared on the scene and tried to free the detainee. The detainee himself did not remain idle and used a hammer to remove his handcuffs.

There was a regular fight on the spot. However, the police managed to get the situation under control. "They arrested not only the man who threatened the shop assistant, but also one of the attackers," the investigator explains.

After their arrest, the prosecutor filed motions to the court to arrest them. At the moment, the third aggressor is wanted. However, the police know his details, so finding him and bringing him before the prosecutor is only a matter of time. The men who attacked the police patrol were not sober.

The officers themselves suffered only minor bodily injuries after the intervention.

History / Recommended Poland's history books [257]

including his own wife who was a confirmed secret service worker.

In the operational materials of the Security Service concerning Paweł Jasienica, women were mentioned as one of his weaknesses. . The IPN files disclosed in 2002 indicate that around 1965, among the people informing on him there appeared an agent with the pseudonym "Ewa" - Nena Zofia Darowska. She was 40 years old then, 15 years younger than the writer and worked in the dean's office of one of the Warsaw universities. The attractive secret collaborator, with considerable help from the Security Service, managed to gradually get closer to the writer, who was despondent over the unexpected death of his wife in 1965. Over time, "Ewa" won the victim's sympathy and trust, and finally his heart - in December 1969 she married him. It was a unique event, as a female agent had never married a person under surveillance before. She assured her SS superiors that entering into a marriage would not change her loyal attitude. Preserved documents confirm this. After the wedding, the woman changed her pseudonym to "Max" and continued to zealously inform on her husband. She wrote the reports in the toilet, and then the officer in charge received them as her good friend who had come to borrow books.

News / How is the Ukraine War effecting Poland and the rest of the E.U. [35]

an Ukrainian woman ran to us and asked in an agitated tone

She was speaking Polish with that wonderful Eastern accent which melts all the ice between people.

There are still two more.

No 2 - She could have thought I was a Ukrainian gov agent who was collecting info on Ukrainians avoiding military service. She wasn`t alone there, I am sure she went shopping with the family aka husband or son, both eligible for the service.
No 3 - she might fear I was a Polish nationalist who was thinking of doing some damage to the car or even her family later on.

What dignity?

Personal. I am shocked you don`t know such basic issues.

Jasienica died young of cancer at 60 years old.

Cancer was a direct cause but there had been certain circumstances which contributed to it. E.g,, Jasienica, for supporting the opposition, was oppressed by communist authorities including the First Secretary Gomułka who slandered the writer in one of public speeches. 30 agents spied on Jasienica, including his own wife who was a confirmed secret service worker. He had a difficult life in communist Poland.
