History / Kashubians are nation in Poland? [124]

Ironside: I would appreciate a little bit of respect and not calling me an idiot

Sorry dude, I meant nothing by what I said but this:
You read the book. You evidently did not understand it.
Your point maybe of some interest to others, not familiar with the field.
However if you want a honest opinion on the subject (ie Goths equals Kashubians). I can give you one - this is a only stipulation, one which is highly unprovable and improbable.

A fact that people were mixing in the past and are mixing nowadays is irrelevant here.
If you want to play with silly theories with others laymen be my guest.
Do not mind me.
At all.

Well, interesting angle, but it is nothing new. However you put it saying pointing at Kashubians and saying that they are Goths or their prodigy is an idiot. It doesn't works that way.

Different tribes mixed on those territories, and archaeological evidence is not going to answer layman questions - this is that and that is this .........firstly because nobody knows and secondly because they don't even know right questions.

History / Kashubians are nation in Poland? [124]

hey are the descendants of the Goths who migrated from Scandza (Scandinavia) to Gotiscandza (Northern Poland). See the attached map.

Well, anybody can talk about anything, do you hold a degree in archaeology or at least in history ?I'm asking
because, you are talking utter rubbish here and I would like to know if I'm speaking to a layman or a clown ?

History / Warsaw Rising 1944 - National Disaster or Triumph of Spirit ? [515]

After witnessing that I honestly think that you would have to be fukced in the head to vote PIS.

Can you speak Polish? Because there is nothing about PiS supporters doing all that, except for unfounded insinuations made by reporters.
What about not using flicks of politicians attending graves of insurgents. Its clear they use it for propaganda purposes.
In Poland there is ideological and political war.
Second point, that is the way democracy expresses itself, you along with many Poles seems to be thinking that democracy is all about voting and of people stately sliding along in a dignified manner - well, apparently you are wrong about that.

If I would vote for PiS only to dis-loge PO's power base a little ....:)

News / Polish final report on Smoleńsk aircrash [870]

Not sure what you mean by me editing the investigation?

I wrote and delph is a ...... - which was edited by the mod!

Also, can you expand on the "aviation as a hobby" part? Just curious...

I'm taking flying lessons

What really disgusts me is the 'rent a crowd' hired by PIS to booo the Prime minister and Bartoszewski-only the lowest of the low, pure scum could do that

nonsense, who take pat in politics and speaks like he did , overplaying authority to dead, can be booed anytime, thats democrasy for you.

News / Polish final report on Smoleńsk aircrash [870]

Aviation is my hobby, sky is a professional pilot, and delph is an FSB agent.

Aviation is my hobby too (beginner :)), sky didn't investigate the Smolensk Crash and edit.
Neither of us is an expert, and simple true is that is that all evidence was in Russian hands and could have tampered with.
I think that is almost impossible to find out who or what was responsible.
Anyone one who is making presumption is not wise.
Maybe pilots are responsible maybe not, maybe it was an accident and then maybe not - thats all who any sentient being can say on the issue.

delph is just making monkey out of himself and I simply wonder what his issue is..? and some others to lesser degree ....

The big discussion back then was the CASA that went down at Miroslawiec. No lessons learned out of that tragic accident is just inexcusable. I'm not alone in my thinking on that... all the usual excuses came up, no time, no money, the problem has already been dealt with by firing a couple of guys.

that is a separate issue...

I hope you don't include me in your assertion. I've said all along that all sides made mistakes BUT as always it is the captain or the commander who's in charge of the flight. T

No, read posts and you can find for yourself who is intense .....no sky, I didn't think about it.

Nevertheless it is interesting !I think it is a good question.
No, doubts, no second thoughts, from the very beginning some of them made their stand. I think that discussion would be more interesting if they at least admitted that there is possibility they maybe wrong.

I just wounder why so many foreigners are interested in convincing everyone that the Smolensk Crash was a fault of the pilot.
They state that in finite terms, there no place for doubts in their posts.
I could understand if they stated their opinion, fair play, but they very intense, almost as they would have a stake in it.
Interesting ......

At the end of the day - even if there was systematic institutional failures - it doesn't excuse the commander.

Yes that all very nice, you are saying that if a plane loose engine and a wing it is still is fault of a commander.

UK, Ireland / Why Poles will never belong in England [283]

It quite clearly wasn't. In fact Poland was economically far behind her Western neighbours during that period.

Some of them, but then was economically ahead of her neighbors.

Well, If there was technical failure, there is no way to confirm it, because Russians destroyed what was left from the plane. All hard evidence gone or tampered with.....

There is not point in disusing it further, really.

They always blame pilots. The fact is that planes almost fly by themselves, and mistakes sure thing can happen but the truth is that government (I don't talk only about Polish and Russian governments) are looking for a scapegoat and who make a better scapegoat than pilots?

History / Polish historical myths - to break or not to break them? [257]

Another thing, the wings and all that were left for an individual to provide for himself. Even if wings or wing had been used in battle, now and then, it would be most probably different wings from those presented in movies.

Well, and their attitude the the issue differ. Some are grateful for the opportunity and some say - I had to work hard on my success and I see no reason to be grateful - individual thing really.

History / Polish historical myths - to break or not to break them? [257]

But, FYI, those are Lancers/Uhlans you dope :)

WTF?Don't pay that much attention to the word hussar, it is not synonymous with husarz, not for Poles anyway, you layman :)
the pictures shows in order:
the national cavalry
Chevau-léger
Uhlans
they were reformed from the winged hussars regiments into cavalry-lancers.
Today their tradition are continued by:

sorry, by them: Poland war badge

That simple, winged hussars were outdated in XVIII century and not effective anymore.
Them were replaced by them:

Uniform

and during Napoleon times by that:

szwolez.jpg - Old Polish uniform

and they kicked your as*s!

History / Polish historical myths - to break or not to break them? [257]

Do most Polish military historians now agree that the wings were never used in battle?

Nope, they agree that most probably the wings were used in battle. Opinions wary as to; one wing or two, connected onto the armor of hussar or onto the saddle.

The winds were an element used freely by individual hussar, no uniformity induced by a higher command.

Historians, I've read, also claim that the wind whistling through the hussars wings when they charged made an eerie noise that terrified the enemy, and so they were also worn to induce panic in Poland's foes

Nope, not noise, rather their view had a psychological effect on a foe.
That and a fact that all those feathers and tiger skins, supposed to have a magical essence, infusing hussars with predatory spirit of those animals which skins and feathers they wore(bear, wolf, panther, lion; eagle, falcon).
