News / Poland to return to Catholic tradition? [177]

Having said that, a conviction for child abuse (be it physical, mental or sexual) should be an immediate life ban from working with children again.

Would hinting to them that alternative live styles are normal to have even though their Christian up bringing is in direct conflict with it ?
The parents teach their children Christian and moral values and then have say a homosexual teacher influence them that it is "normal" to have sexual relations with the same sex even though it is in direct violation of their religious belief.

Do you think that falls under sexual mental abuse to their religious beliefs since it is considered sin by believers in God who clearly called it that, SIN.

The 1.5% living in sin want to teach Polands Catholic children that it is o.k. to sin.
Do you think such teachers should be banned and deported from a 90% plus Catholic country for teaching a sin of Satan ?
You are walking on thin ice delph.

News / Poland to return to Catholic tradition? [177]

The Vatican does not consider them to be part of the faithful, i.e. practising Roman Catholics.

Again, I agree HOWEVER..................
Just because they are not faithful does not mean the Vatican does not consider them Catholic.
There are faithful Catholics and unfaithful Catholic yet they BOTH are still Catholics.

News / Poland to return to Catholic tradition? [177]

Not "some fall short" every mortal man on earth falls short.
However you are right, we can't just go through the motions as the upper and downers do and expect to have our fire insurance covered.

the idea is you try and improve yourself along the way

Ah, correct, putting in practice the talk daily is the ticket.
You can meet the RCC requirements and still miss the boat while others who don't score ten on the RCC requirements still will find a place in heaven.

that's what confession is for.

And you don't have to confess your sins to a priest to be forgiven, you can confess to another brother in the Lord or the Lord Almighty Himself to be forgiven. And once you do you never have to ask for forgiveness for that sin again.

News / Poland to return to Catholic tradition? [177]

the RCC itself sets out very clear requirements as to what is the minimum expected from the faithful

What is expected does not mean you will be excommunicated if you fall short of the "faithful's" expectations as we are all sinners.

Even the faithful sin Harold.
Sinners are still considered to be Catholic.
Sinners includes all of us no matter what denomination, agnostic, atheist, Catholic, Baptist, Tree Hugger, Islam, Jewish.......

News / Poland to return to Catholic tradition? [177]

Again Harry, Polish people prefer quality than quantity, differently than you muslims

Harold is Muslim ! That helps connect the dots.
Poland will return to Catholic traditions when times get hard again.
Haven't you ever noticed how religion accelerates and people become religious all of a sudden when they get confronted with death of a loved one or told that they are terminal, hospitalized, incarcerated, desperation, etc. and all of a sudden they find religion.

Poland will turn back to Catholic tradition when the Lord deems time to humble them again.

Love / Valentines Day & Polish men [130]

Always had you down as more of a Yugo guy.

Doesn't surprise me as I always had you down as a bicycle guy ever since I stole your laundry soap off your bicycle when you went inside the store.

Instead of giving women the same rights (for instance equal salaries) and basic feminine rights (contraception, abortion..), men get away with "flowers".

Oh Honey, come on now, "Women are equal to men, until it comes time to pay."
She gets his paycheck, she gets the house, she gets child support, she gets alimony, she has government welfare on her side, she has the law on her side, she has the courts on her side none of which a man is afforded.

That is why they created Valentine's Day, so the Alfa males can charm the pants off a woman respectfully. A win win.

Valentines Day is a day for us Alfa men as well.
We enjoy the 'thought' and 'amount of effort' in pleasing us rather then the amount of money spent to do it.

Life / Child abuse in Poland [64]

I was wondering how the country of Poland feels about this.

The Catholic Church is allegedly telling newly ordained bishops that they have no obligation to report child-sexual-abuse allegations to law-enforcement officials, saying instead that the decision to take such claims to the authorities should be left to victims and their families.

"According to the state of civil laws of each country where reporting is obligatory, it is not necessarily the duty of the bishop to report suspects to authorities, the police or state prosecutors in the moment when they are made aware of crimes or sinful deeds," his document states, according to a citation in the Guardian.

Genealogy / Do I look Polish? (my picture) [375]

Come on Tubby, sounds like you are talking about yourself.

- Tenebaum act standoffish and you will be beating them off with a s.Hitty stick.

So true Roz but you will never convince a young girl of that with all the peer pressure out there.
They think they need to put on war paint and submit to peer pressure to be vogue.
A woman that wore a Czech army parka, wooly jumper, muddy boots, wore her hair un brushed, drank her beer from a bottle would be much more fun to be with then one that worried about impressing both her male and female peers with plastic looks. (In my personal opinion anyways)

These young women need to be instilled with.... "there is ONLY one person that you have to impress in life and that is yourself".

Live up to YOUR expectations, not somebody else's.

Language / Polish was chosen the HARDEST LANGUAGE in the world to learn... :D [1558]

I often struggle with English on this forum searching for proper word(s) or expression(s).

Would a Polish Thesaurus help you out ?
You could then cross reference the Polish word(s) with the English word(s) that have several meanings being the same.
This will give you several options of words to use for a particular one so you can pick the proper one that fits best.
Or use an English Thesaurus and translate those words into Polish meanings.
merriam-webster.com/thesaurus/polish
Does anyone know of a thesaurus that converts Polish words to similar English words ?

Someone said my English is stiff or something.

Zmoe, your proper English is much better then most college graduates in America.

'sic (sic) the dog on me'? what on earth does that mean?

The owner of a dog (sic's) or "commands his dog to attack" you or another animal.
It's used as a figure of speech in America to get another person to back off.
Kinda like telling someone that you are going to set them on fire.
Another way of telling someone to get out of your face.
You know, same as like you are always telling people to feek off. lol

UK, Ireland / Britain's moral collapse? [99]

if some traditional British morality rubs off, Poland can only become a better place.

I sure hope you aren't insinuating that your "Progressive Liberal immorality" is traditional because that certainly WOULD NOT "enrich" the CHRISTIAN Polish culture to be a better place.

UK, Ireland / Britain's moral collapse? [99]

It amazing how the 1.5% of the people have the arrogance to try and convince 90% of the people that disagree with them on the definition of morality by using the words racists and bigots to belittle with.

Since the majority of the people in the world/society (90% maybe) are either Christian or Muslim that define morality very clearly.
That is why liberals use the words homophobe, bigot, racist is because they can not argue the truth.

not that there was ever much morality there to collapse in the first place.

Life / Living like a local in Poland - What does it even mean? [30]

My question here is, "Do people in Poland blanch and freeze vegetables and fruits in season so they will have them to eat throughout the winter months.

Do they do a lot of home canning with fresh meats and fish to avoid the high salt content of canned crap you buy in the stores ?"

I haven't read much about this on the P.F.

I used to suffer from acid and had an ulcer

It certainly allows me to to buy lots of VIP lager with the spare cash.

Are you sure it was the acid that was causing the ulcer as excessive alcohol consumption has been know to cause them too.

(for instance I really like bread from Nowakowski and whenever I pass one of their stores, I buy several different kinds of rolls)

Read the book "Wheat Belly" and you will understand why you are over weight and most likely will never eat bread again.

News / PiS and Russian political/economic interests [70]

I read somewhere that the Americans now have so much of the stuff that their storage facilities are full,

You read correctly and that is because when OPEC had a strangle hold on us with oil at $140 a barrel we decided it was time to become independent from them. So we did.

Now it is America's turn to start selling the OPEC countries fresh water at $140 a barrel.
Just wait until we get a Republican president who will undo Obama's executive orders and order the Key Stone pipeline to be built.
Oil will drop even more as Canada can sell it to the U.S.A. cheaper then it cost the U.S to extract it.

What do you think that is going to do to the valuation of the U.S.D. and how it will effect Poland's zloty down the road ?

A lot of oil companies will be forced into bankruptcy one would think.

News / PiS and Russian political/economic interests [70]

Crude-oil prices plunged more than 5% on Monday.
Now trading is at near $30 a barrel, making light of bankruptcy ever more likely for a significant chunk of the U.S. oil industry.
Have an idea what the trickle down effect will be on Poland ?
Three major investment banks, Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Citigroup Inc. now expect the price of oil to crash through the $30 threshold and into $20 territory in short order as a result of China's slowdown, the U.S. dollar's appreciation and the fact that drillers from Houston to Riyadh won't quit pumping despite the oil glut.

China is a major import of Russian oil and gas but with it's slow down they won't be using as much to pollute the world.

This will drive prices even lower.
Like I said here last week, oil will stay low for the rest of this decade.
Blame it all on the Chicoms.

Law / The right to own guns: would you support such legislation in Poland? [2237]

Not totally true.
Any hand gun anyone buys MUST HAVE paperwork obtained from local law enforcement filed with the purchase no matter where they buy it.
Correct me if I am wrong but to my knowledge ANY GUN shipped from e-bay or any other place has to be shipped to a federal firearms licensed dealer where then the buyer can go pick it up after filling out paper work for it weather a long gun or hand gun.

What Obama and Hillary want to stop is people buying long guns (assault rifles) at gun shows for cash without filing any paper work.
Even buying a hand gun at a gun show the proper paper work and I.D. must be filed to obtain it.

Law / The right to own guns: would you support such legislation in Poland? [2237]

immigrants or foreigners

They are not allowed to get a gun license in the U.S.A either by just flashing a residency card.
In fact they would not be granted one period.
Only citizens 21 years of age or older after taking classes for gun safety and laws pertaining to lethal use and responsibility, a written test and an interview by a gun board.

Poland no doubt would be even more stringent since very few Polish citizens have had a life time of training as most have here in the United States.

The ruling is still in effect - states do not have the right of secession.

You don't live here, never have lived here and never will live here so quiet please ?
You are from Scutland and have limited knowledge of America.

Texas has the right to leave the united states whenever it wishes

That is correct, Texas is a State, however, they are the only state which has reserved the right to retract their statehood.

I doubt that US marines would ever fire upon their own in support of a federal government.

Correct again as the Marines have already openly stated that they would side with the civilians.
Back on topic however, if Poland was given a chance to vote on being able to own and carry a licensed handgun their is no doubt it would be voted in.

Polish law enforcement would even welcome it as they have in the United States.

Off-Topic / To ALL IMMIGRANTS ("expats") to Poland on this forum... [124]

When I first came here jon insinuated that he was British.
He used big words that he got by using a thesaurus to sound like he came from the upper crust.
No doubt the guy has been around and has a good education but far from what he pretends to be.
Once we found out that he was an ex pat from Turkey his tone changed.
He now claims to have obtained his Polish citizenship as does Roger.

Law / The right to own guns: would you support such legislation in Poland? [2237]

Poland would support such legislation if it were brought to vote just like it was recently in Texas.
When the new year begins (2016) in the Lone Star State, licensed Texans for the first time since 1871 will be allowed to carry a holstered pistol in public under an "open carry" law passed in the Republican-dominated 2015 legislative session.

The liberals in Texas (as in Poland) claimed it would never pass but it did proving just how wrong the Polish Left is.
Looks like 2016 has started out with a positive "For the People, By the People" !

If I had a tip to give you it would be: "Do not post any of your personal information as it always comes back to bite people."

Polish people are great people.
