Love / Polish women care about traditional values [34]

A stay home mum is only much more work if she's used to menial jobs

BALONY !
You must have never been commited to any othe those "menial" jobs.
I worked 60 hours plus a week at one of those "high earning" jobs for years.
When my wife was hospitalized for two months and I had to stay home to care for the little ones, cook, clean, grocery shop, balance the checkbook, pay the bills, drop the younguns off at school, pick them up from school, pack their lunches, change poopie diapers, wash the cloths, clean up urp after sick kids.......you know, all those "menial" jobs,

I was more then ready to get back to my 'high earning' job before I had a nervous break down.
Much less physical work, much less stress, ADULT CONVERSATION, much more free time, punch the clock at 6p.m. and my day ended. Come home, crack a cold one and mow the lawn.

My wife's job was 24/7 never knowing what the next challenge would be.
Oh you are SOoooo wrong to judge those "menial" jobs that you obviously know nothing about.
I didn't either until they were dumped in my lap one day and reality set in REAL quick.
I ask you, how much do you think a fare wage would be for say, Being up all night with a three year old with the flu (crying, urping, temperature, and the hearshy squirts all at one time) after you have worked all day doing those "menial" jobs for the rest of your family ?

Please tell us.

For a business woman like myself it would a breeze compared with my working week

I beg to differ.

Men shouldn't allow themselves to be used by money grabbing opportunists.

That falls under the little head controlling the big head (choice) but I don't think we are talking about the money grubbers here.
We are talking about "traditional values" of Polish women, not the new age church of 'Meism'.

Love / Polish women care about traditional values [34]

quote by EdinburghGirl

It's well known Polish women are "nice" to their man all the time he's being generous financially and supporting her.

That is not only a Polish woman's tradition but a world wide tradition.
Do tell us what a Brit Bird would do in that situation.
Anything different ?

I wouldn't blame her.
A stay home Mom is much more work (24/7) then punching a clock eight hours a day.
If SHE is the bread winner of the relationship and supporting HIM while he is playing househusband and she took the money away that would hold true too.

Both mates have to be "nice".

Love / Polish women care about traditional values [34]

quote by Magdalena

Poland may be a "traditional" society, yes. But it all takes place within a matriarchal, not patriarchal, structure.

If Poland is a traditional society and the majority of the population are of traditionally Catholic back ground, wouldn't such a femanist statement be in direct opposition to what the Catholic church teaches ?

Does new age femanism now trump Catholic church doctrine ?

Life / Polish people are the most ignorant people in the world! [331]

I think it was the beginning of the first world war when people were getting their kids the hell out of Europe and sending them to America

so they didn't get killed.
Over 7 million civilians died in that war.
You have to imagine for yourself these children from Poland (and other countries) coming to America frightened out of their heads,
not knowing how to speak the language. They were exploited for meaningless jobs, didn't know who to trust, where to go,
and didn't have any money.
It would be like me coming to Poland at ten years old, no family there, not speaking the Polish language with no money.
I would do what I had to to survive in a new culture and country.
I would fall under the term, dumb American by the insulting Poles.
One would think that is where the term dumb Polock came from.
From dumb insulting Americans.

It must be something in America. We certainly don't have it.

Not anymore in America either jon.
Realize that was two generations ago.
That is the way it was back in the first half of the 1900's.
If someone called a Polish person a dumb Polock today that person would be used for a mop to mop up the street.
That term went out when white socks did.
It just doesn't happen anymore.

Life / Polish people are the most ignorant people in the world! [331]

I grew up with the phrase "dumb Polack" spat at me and whispered behind my back,

As did I.
I was young and it made me feel very inferior not knowing any better.
Then one evening as my father sat sipping his peeva he told be a true story about a local "dumb Polack".
The dumb Polock owned a little bar in town that catered to all the local alcoholics.
He and his wife worked their tails off and about lived every awakening hour there serving food and beer. (Very hard workers)
The patrons called the owners of this bar dumb Polocks to their faces only to get a small smile in return.
The dumb Polock let his patrons run a weekly tab. (how dumb)
He also encouraged them to bring in their wild caught fish, venison, mushrooms, ect. to his bar to cook for everyone, free of charge.
Made the patrons feel like big shots showing off their prize catches and sharing.
The bar owners wife cooked it all with lots of salt making the patrons thirsty for more beer.
She became all of their wives as she cooked, cleaned up their messes, listened to their filthy jokes and depressing self pity stories.
His patrons didn't even have to go home after work to their wives for dinner as the salty snacks and food was provided free.

They sat there drinking, eating, and running up their tabs until late in the evening.
Come friday the patrons all brought their paychecks into the bar to have them cashed to pay off their tabs and start over.
The dumb Polock quietly laughed all the way to the bank. (the dumbest fox in the forest)
That dumb Polock as he was called, is now a multi millionaire and owns the largest piece of property in my town.
He has set up all four of his children in businesses in town where many of the patrons children now work for.
Who was the dumb one ?

Work / Language Teachers - do you feel respected in Poland? [86]

what is spelled 'writting'? he said 'wittering'

Oh Really ? ........my humor fails me sometimes.

I respect math, science and language teachers...
As long as they are not: rude, have no accountability, immature, and other things along that line.

Very good point however I would say that goes for not just teachers but everyone in any country, not just Poland.

Respect is earn through having good character, not by paper certificates. If you are kind and polite, people will respect you. Why must I explain this to old men?

Because they haven't learned to comprehend that you can't boast, insult, pretend, or demand respect....... you have to "earn it".
All of the above only show a major inferiority complex.
To get respect you have to give respect while rudeness only breeds rudeness.
And Szalawa you hit the nail on the head, neither paper certificate, age, earnings, qualifications determine a good teacher or person.
I am older then any teacher posting on here and my monthly income most likely is twice plus, what all of their incomes are added together.

That does not make me superior nor do I pretend to be. Just making my point. As in Everybody is somebody.
The key words here (and you hit it) is "Earned Respect".

Yet that doesn't seem to stop you wittering on about teaching degrees. By the way, they exist in your country

The word is spelled writting Professor Perfect.
Exactly, you three stooges boast about your superiority because you hold a teaching certificate which is one of the easiest degrees
that there is to obtain. We have established that by the classes required to get one.
Now you wonder "why" you are not respected as teacher ?

I did find World rankings of Universities however and you will see that Duke ranks 30th.

So below both of mine then.

No, I did not see that as you are to embarrassed to tell us the two you supposedly attended.
Go check this again son and you will find yours on page 4 or 5. Mine was on the first page. webwebometrics.info/en/world
The reason I have no repect for you three stooges as teachers is because of your childish taunting.
(My dad can beat up your dad, my dog is bigger than your dog......)
Who cares, ya know, who cares, but don't try to lord over me with it.
It's nice you think so much of yourselves but I don't see it that way.
You guys think you are hot bullock on a silver platter but you are no more than cold turds on a paper plate. REALLY !

The courses required are all basic classes for a teaching degree.

Or computer science or hard courses.

"The courses required are all basic classes for a teaching degree. ie: basic reading, basic writing, basic arithmatic, ect.
he clearly excludes the BEd from his "teaching degree".

I have no idea what a BEd is so that is the reason I excluded it. Is this something you need to get a teaching degree on line ?

I guess different prerequisites required to teach in different countries.
Same with the requirements for a teaching degree, different from country to country.
I did find World rankings of Universities however and you will see that Duke ranks 30th.

I couldn't find world University rankings for English teaching degrees however.

Yup, as usual, you three circle your wagons.
I am laughing so hard as you guys to the bait hook line and sinker.
You proved my point to a "T".

Is there such a thing as a teaching degree?

And Jesus wept.

Perhaps in community colleges in impoverished parts of the USA,

And Jesus wept again. You can't get a teaching degree at a community college only a four year college or university.

but in most countries teaching diplomas are earned after a first degree

Only in third world countries.

They usually require a very high level of candidate before even starting.

Compared to what !

Not to mention the rigorously assessed teaching practice.

Must not be that rigorous if Curly, Mo, and LHarry passed.

What a load of utter rubbish.

Be honest here guys, how many classes have any of you ever taken in the following,
advanced algebra, advanced physical sciences, advanced chemistry, advanced psychology, trigonometry, discriptive geometry,
caculus to get your teaching certificate ? You know, the classes that take a brain. My bet is "NOTTA", any of you.
You guys give me gas the way you bully everyone with your bullock.
At least the truth be known now how a teaching certificate ain't squat to obtain.
Sorry to redden your faces all at once but someone had to do it.

Work / Language Teachers - do you feel respected in Poland? [86]

People who never attended college would never know that a teaching degree is the easiest degree there is to obtain, just one step above a liberal arts degree which is virtually useless. (Now I are one)

The courses required are all basic classes for a teaching degree. ie: basic reading, basic writing, basic arithmatic, ect.
There are no "advanced classes" like advanced algebra, advanced physical sciences, advanced chemistry, advanced psychology classes required for a teaching degree.
School teachers then get that little bit of authority over children and suddenly become geniuses lording over them.
This goes to their head and they eventully become odious to anyone besides themselves or other teachers.
ie: Know it all limp wristed obnoxious liberals that stick within their click because of their pretentious lives.
Maybe you have noticed this on this forum.
People that can do it do it and people who can't do it teach it.

Food / Polish polskie pierogi recipe (prepared at home) [72]

I found this very old recipe today that my Polish grandma used back in 1922. (Straight from the old country)
I have upgraded this recipe since, however I wanted to share this 90 year old one with you.
Very basic.

Pierogi:
4-5 potatoes - cook & mash - cool, mix in 2 eggs & 2 to 2 1/2 cups flour & 1/2 teas. salt
Shape into 2 or 3 balls, roll out on floured (1 ball at a time) cut into squares.
Drop into pot of boiling water, be sure water keeps boiling.
Water will become murky - don't panic.
Cook until they come to the top - couple of minutes.
Remove from water (dip out into colander) and rinse off with cool water
carefully so they don't fall apart.
Brown in frying pan in butter & cracker or bread crumbs.

She came to America when she was eight years old and didn't know one word of English.
By the time she was sixteen she could speak, read, and write perfect English as well as being
a master in arithmatic.
I remember her little smile with her devil blue eyes telling me to shut up and eat.

News / Poland Plans New Canal from Vistula to the Baltic. Drought? [12]

It's happening probably since 20 years, that from time to time Russians forbid Polish ships to cross from Zalew Wiślany to Baltic Sea through their territory.

And looking twenty years down the road I would guess it will more than pay for itself.
Plus the more Poland creates it's independence from uncle Pootie the more leverage Poland will have.
Walk and don't look back.
Thanks for the article Pam ; )

News / Poland Plans New Canal from Vistula to the Baltic. Drought? [12]

It's my understanding that Poland plans to build a new canal from Vistula to the Baltic.
This no doubt is being built to by pass Russian waters.
It's great in my opinion that Poland is doing this.
It will put people to work helping the economy and make Poland more independent.
Can't find much on the news about the project however.
I would appreciate some input wheather the Polish people think this is a good idea
or not.
Hard to get both sides of a story first hand this side of the pond.
Thank you in advance.

Love / Am I The Only One Who Doesn't Find Polish Women Attractive? [93]

First of all I can't believe I would stoop to such ignorance to even respond to Don Juan. (ilias: Adokas)
It is a culture thing Don Juan, you are out of your elimate.
Greek men totally bearded and dressed in black and picking up women to take back to their hermitages sitting around at taverns while the women in black wait on them and make cooing sounds doesn't entice Polish women.

Polish women like to rock with a little femanism and don't really get into Geek boys.
This may be why they have that look on their face, the GO AWAY LOOK once you open your mouth.
Rejection is hell on egoism.
Once you take a long hard look in a mirror you will understand that "Denial" is not a river in Egypt.

This thread has answered question, "Am I The Only One Who Doesn't Find Polish Women Attractive?"......YES !
