Life / Polish water safe to drink? [50]

Those metal pipes you speak of are sometimes "lead" pipes.
Boiling your water does not remove toxic metals or chemicals from the water.
Even bottled water is unsafe sometimes.
When the plastic gets exposed to the hot sun it causes a chemical reaction that makes the water toxic from the plastic.
May I brag, we are blessed here on my property, to have a bubbling artesian well that has a flow of 30 gallons a minute of ice cold water that tests zero interference that flows 24/7/365.

Does Poland have test kits that you can take random samples of water yourself and send them into the health department to have them tested for a small fee like they do here in the U.S.A. ?

Life / Polish water safe to drink? [50]

roca posted that five years ago and the water very well have could have contained interference.
Look what Wroclaw Boy said about it.

I used to drink the tap water for years, then i stopped and my toilet requirements became less frequent.

Since then Poland has been replacing the old water pipes and things have improved to the point that the Polish people are starting to drink the water from the taps in their homes again.

That was the POINT here.
roca also made another very good point.

you cannot remove the hazardous chemicals just by ''boiling'' the water

Your source Notty will most likely get deleted since it is not in English.

After decades of poor quality water running in home taps the situation has improved to the extent that many Poles started drinking it again.
(Bottled water is not as safe as it is cracked up to be either, if you tested it, especially if those plastic bottles have been exposed to sun light.)

Nice to see that kind of new infrastructure improving Poland.

Travel / Flying from USA to Poland in June - Will Visa now be required??? [31]

but few, if any, Americans.

Americans are beyond spoiled and are very demanding.
Caribbean and Central America caters to their every whim.
Europe on the other hand does not really like Americans and Americans can feel that cold shoulder.
If you where to survay the age group below 50 years old in America and ask them if they would rather go to Costa Rica or the Virgin Islands or would they rather go to Poland or the U.K. it is no mystery where they would choose.

Europe is very unsafe right now for Americans on top of it all.
The ONLY reason Americans would visit Poland is to visit relatives or go see the homeland which is a very small percentage of Americans.
Most of my friends that have gone to Poland say after two weeks they are ready to come home because it is a very boring place where people do not smile.

If Poland were to make it anymore difficult to visit as it is already off the beaten path by demanding a visa, I am afraid it would be more then a shot in the foot to Poland.

Nobody will pay this astronomical fee for a visa.

No, I meant if someone is going to spend $3k to $5k for a vacation to Poland for two weeks to visit a couple of tourist attractions may be swayed to go some place else that does not require the hassle of a visa.

Tourism brings in a lot of cash to a lot of people so why would they want to discourage it in Poland.

Requiring a visa for Americans in retaliation because they are required to have one to come to America and then try to make the big money illegally with no intentions of returning as a high percentage do.

(Referring to working class Polish)

They cannot grasp that there are almost a million Americans living in Europe now;

Illegally ? Americans going to Poland to stay illegally to make big money with no intentions of returning ?

Few, very few is the correct answer.

Now do you understand what I was saying BEFORE Othery chimed in ?

Europe has turned into a hot bed of terrorism.

It sure has and is only going to get much worse.
I mentioned months ago that Europe is crumbling but I guess when you live in the middle of it they don't notice it.

They really have nothing to offer

Requiring a visa for Americans that are willing to drop $3-5k to see the Salt Mines & the Death Camp is nuts.
All because in retaliation because they are required to have one to come to America and then try to make the big money illegally with no intentions of returning as a high percentage do.

What American would go to Poland with no intention of returning ? Few, very few is the correct answer.

not to mention all the unfriendly attitudes.

They have a lot of pent up jealousy towards the U.S.A..

I wonder how much tourism Europe will lose?

I had full intentions on visiting Poland and the EU this year but the hate and drama that I see certainly is not inviting.
I think after a week or two I would be TOTALLY bored plus like Adrian said, the food sucks.
Poland would shoot themselves in the foot if they required a visa for Americans.
Costa Rica is looking better and better every day to me personally.
Much shorter flight too.
Plus the weather is nice year around as are the people.
Not to mention the jerked chicken, curried shrimp & coconut rum.
Gee, I think I just convinced myself that the EU ain't worth the hassle even without a visa requirement.

History / Why Poland achieved nothing at all? [69]

Being that Polar Bear, AmericanPatriot and Rocco341 are all the same Russian troll it seems the Mods would block his IP from here.
That would be an achievement for Poland.

Law / The right to own guns: would you support such legislation in Poland? [2237]

80% of Poles don't want easier access to firearms.

This is why education is so important.
The fear that has been instilled back in the Communist days still lingers in Poland.

Not at the cost of higher gun crime.

Actually violent crime is much higher when guns have been banned in a country.
Take the U.K. for example where violent crime rose by 48% when guns were confiscated.
I am only suggesting that responsible people have the option to be trained in the safety and shooting of a gun.
This will slowly educate the people of Poland that guns are not evil as many of you here suggest.
Actually they are quite fun to shoot and enjoy not to mention the extra home security that they give a person.

We don't need guns and we don't want guns.

Thank you for your personal opinion.

End of story and nothing to discuss anymore.

Not necessarily as others here may beg to differ with that personal opinion of yours also.
This is why training the youth of Poland in gun safety and shooting classes would alleviate such ignorant biasness with education.
A sport that many would enjoy.

Law / The right to own guns: would you support such legislation in Poland? [2237]

your real motives. Irrational fear of guns.

That seems to be her phobia.
Perhaps if Poland were to have mandatory gun safety & shooting classes for all ten year olds that it may relax the bias fears that have been instilled that guns are a bad thing.

Those classes most certainly would create more enthusiasm for responsible gun ownership.
In doing so there would be no doubt Poland would support such legislation from the new enthusiasm these classes would create.

Life / When will SMOKING BE BANNED? (from public areas in Poland) [44]

Have you seen the new e-cigarettes that you can buy cannabis oil vials for.
The vials fit into the e-cigarettes perfectly.
They cost about $90 for 125 single hits. (and all you need is one hit I hear)
What makes them so popular is that they produce ZERO smell because the smoke is vaporized.
The State of Colorado is making a fortune on them where they are legal.
So my question is that if the smoke is vaporized and there is no smell why should the tobacco ones be banned in public areas ?

News / President Duda rules out homo marriage in Poland as banned by the constitution [172]

It's a Libeal's game of this generation to be "Politically Correct" so they can shove their agenda down your throat without you being able to defend yourself as in this case.

That is why President Trump is steam rolling the Liberals, he is not Politically Correct and refuses to play their game.
So when you stick to your guns and call a homo a homo the Liberals will then start calling YOU NAMES like red neck, illiterate, trailer trash, uneducated.........

so sensitive and have double standards?

EXACTLY !

So I think it all boils down to that Pol just refuses to be brow beat by the Liberal Politically Correct Progressive Whiners.
Homo marriage in Poland will not be tolerated is the massage.
Now if Pol would have said "Faggot Marriage is banned in Poland", that may be considered a slur.

a "paki".

So, So what, no different in you calling me a Yank is it or are we back to double standards again ?

Life / When will SMOKING BE BANNED? (from public areas in Poland) [44]

The tax the government gets from tobacco is far higher than the cost to the health service (about 3x last time I looked at that).

Please share your sources with us.
If that is true why would the taxes on tobacco generate 3x more then health service costs ?
My understanding is that Poland has very poor health care and maybe that is why.
Also when you talk of health care costs from tobacco use are you figuring in time off work for smoking issues, all health issues from heart decease, blood decease, high blood pressure, lung decease, blood decease, and all the other deceases caused by smoking ?

How about the cost of cancer care caused from smoking ?
I doubt very much that the tax on tobacco could cover all these health care expenses caused from smoking.
That is why I ask you to please share your sources on Poland's annual expenditures for tobacco related health care and also the amount of taxes collected in Poland annually from tobacco tax.

Poland doesn't have private prisons yet

I am aware of that and that is why I posted,

Poland will catch on soon and start building PRIVATE incarceration facilities $$$$$$ and start making these huge profits

Coming soon to your town.

(I know how keen you are on staying on topic Johhny)

I didn't think anyone would notice since there hasn't been an 'O' past out here in months since everyone is trying so hard.

Poland will see what smoking is costing it's health care system and start serious education campaigns against it.
Have you noticed that mostly the uneducated are the only ones still smoking ?

before you start posting about it again

Oh my sensitive !
It is VERY CLEAR in my post that I was referring to building private prisons to house drunk drivers for profit and not comparing alcohol limits with Poland.

My point was of all the money that is being made from some poor guy that drank two beers after working all day and is no more drunk then the little old lady that is driving on her Prozac, anti depressants, oxycodone pain killers and anti anxiety medications legally.

May I repost it for you.

Poland will catch on soon and start building PRIVATE incarceration facilities $$$$$$ and start making these huge profits

I speak that American figuratively English sometimes which is confusing to you and Har.

You can't drive around the US cities anymore after 9 PM.

After dark actually especially if you are under 40.

I call it neo-prohibition.

We call it "adult curfew".
Take a guess on the money being generated from this and how many of "them" that it employees from cops, to the court system, to fines, to humiliation classes, to wearing a tether that you are forced to wear on probation not to mention the blow and goes on your car steering wheel that YOU pay for to them, to jail and prison housing, to the judges retirement funds $$$$$$$$$$$.

Anything more than 1 and 1/2 beers or two shots of vodka and you go to jail if you get caught driving.

Poland will catch on soon and start building PRIVATE incarceration facilities $$$$$$ and start making these huge profits also while having the system have TOTAL control over your life. Wait and see.

News / President Duda rules out homo marriage in Poland as banned by the constitution [172]

Americans can't grasp that stuff.

Oh we grasp it just fine because most of us here in the U.S. have been brought up in Christian families that teach morals.

Being gay is not a sin however practicing the sex acts that go with it are.
Poland is a conservative Christian Country that does not approve of homosexuality no matter how much you try to justify it..

Neither does Poland allow civil partnerships for same-sex couples, reflecting the majority view in this staunchly Catholic country.

Seems we tried to POUND that fact thru several of the posters heads here in the last year or two as they put their fingers in their ears and stomped their feet in denial.

The immoral Liberals do not believe in God because they couldn't justifiably sin if they did.
I still have never figured out how less then 3% of the population (Homo's & Lesbians) get so much attention in Poland.
What ever happened to that stupid rainbow ?
Hopefully it rusted and fell apart.

News / How serious is existence of Lithuania as independent state between Poland and Russia ? [65]

Either way things are ratcheting up quickly as it is just a matter of time before all hell breaks loose.
LONDON - Tourists know the Channel Tunnel as the undersea railroad that allows cheap and easy trips from Britain to mainland Europe.
But in the dead of night this week, Britain's military sent five tanks down the 30-mile "Chunnel" to test whether it would be an effective route for forces if deployed to places such as Eastern Europe amid tensions between Russia and NATO.

Does anyone know how many nuke's are housed in Kaliningrad at the moment ?

This is all very interesting.

Yes it is Crow especially now that Trump is one of the players.

Law / Weapons laws in Poland. Carrying a concealed handgun? [918]

But the simple fact is that there is no city in the USA which can accurately calculated to two decimal places a murder by firearm rate.

What Har refuses to understand is that there has never been a murder with a gun in the town I live in which makes the murder rate 0%.

(he is currently claiming he lives in is a fictional town

No, YOU claim that Har, not me.

The town you claim to live in does not exist.

How can that be when I have never made such a claim, those are your claims with your skillfully sown innuendo's steeped in exaggeration (lie) Har.

Mayberry is not a fictional town as the website I provided proves. (Wipe more egg off your face Har)
You have no idea what town I live in that has never had a murder with a gun.
The younger law abiding Poles will eventually be forced to defend themselves and their families with the way the world is going.
That is when the gun laws will start changing and changing fast in Poland.

Hold on, have to go get it again
Now wipe the egg off your face AGAIN ! (sigh)
Did you know that more people die in Poland than in the U.S.A. from alcoholism ?
Maybe Poland should outlaw alcohol consumption.
Or maybe that is why Poland outlawed guns because of the acute alcohol consumption in their country.
I know that the Polish vodka Spirytus Wesoly will get you there in a hurry.
