Language / Game - guess Polish idioms/sayings in direct English translation [1756]

You do realise it's about Polish idioms

Absolutely - I just wanted to straighten your buddy out on his mistake.

or you kust don't care you are trashing another thread?

I'll take your trolling Bait as you have been throwing it out there all week looking for a fight with me.
Actually it is YOU and your cohort that have started all the drama here over nothing.
You two are Nudne jak flaki z olejem.

you should have said in your example above pulling their legs, as the use of 'their' refers to more than one person,

True however you would still say pulling their leg. Pulling the classrooms leg, pulling the students leg, etc.
I have an idea.....why not Google "pulling their legs" and see what you come up with just for giggles.
I rest my case.

jr has yet to contribute anything about poland

Because when I do it just gets deleted so I gave up. Why waste my time ?
And it is spelled 'drama' that you just added to your post needlessly to BAIT with Buckwheat, not I.

never mind the mistake,

How convenient to dismiss the point/mistake of all of this. lol
Your mistake is what this is all about son.
I was merely correcting your mistake as this thread is about direct English translation.
My translation of "leg" is correct and your translation of "legs" is incorrect for that saying.
(Google it for yourself)
I know it is hard for school teachers to swallow their pride when someone shows them that they are wrong.
Wouldn't it much easier to just say, "thank you for pointing that out to me johnny, you are right".
And I have to get out on my riding lawn mower and get a couple acres of grass cut before the sun comes up over the hill and the horse flies come out to bite the living hell out of me.

Yes..... be blessed today.

Did you miss the word "meaning" ?
I was giving you the definition/meaning of pulling someone's leg and not legs.
Sorry that you were confused by this.
This is not the riddle thread so maybe that is why you got confused.
Either way, do have a blessed day. :-)

Did your hands grew to your a**?

Did your hands grow to your a**. (sarcasm)
I, as an American, would interpret that to mean, "you are sitting on your hands", (doing nothing) meaning you are not getting anything done that needs to get done.

when I am pulling their legs.

It is singular, (leg) pulling their leg, pulling your leg, pulling my leg, pulling his/her leg.
Meaning you must be joking or making something up not being serious.

Life / Owning a house in true countryside of Poland - stories [692]

He will never tell you as he is a wanted man dead or alive.

they work hard and don`t drink too much - no wonder they are quite wealthy.

Have you ever noticed that those two go hand in hand to be successful ?
You sound like a very blessed person Pawian to live where you do in the Polish countryside with people you have common interests with.
I grew up in a similar setting in the U.S.
Problem now is that a lot of very rich atheist snobs have seen what we have here and they want it too even though we stand for everything they stand against. lol

They have bought up homes here for twice their value (raising property taxes) making it unaffordable for many old timers to live here anymore.
Not only that but with them comes their drinking, drugs, immorality, godless thinking, pompous air that has ruined what we use to have here.
Be careful not to let that happen ( you can't stop what Political Correctness calls progress) as it will ruin not only the true Polish countryside but true Polish ethics of old Polish culture.

Off-Topic / Social Media - who uses Facebook or similar? [45]

How hateful again Lyzko.

The putridstench of his rants pollutes bodies and souls alike.

Kind of like the rant you are on here, right.
The only difference is that your mind has been poisoned.

I read somewhere that most American media are said to be of leftist stance. Is it true?

Extremely true Pawian.
The bias media backed Oslama like 90% positive where as Trump they give 90% negative.
That is why Trump tweets is to expose the Left Opposition Parties corruption the Left bias media refuse to report on.
It just smokes the media's and their sheep.
Just look how upset and the meltdown Lyzko just had because of Trumps tweets.

Trump's a twit and his tweets are embarrassing

Only embarrassing to the Left because they can't refute what Trump tweets without getting hateful and nasty just like Lyzko did above.
These people are sick Pawian, really sick.
They want to destroy America anyway they can just like Osama did where as Trump loves America and is trying to do what is best for it and Make America Great Again.

Trump uses twitter daily to bash the bias media.
Here is his todays tweet.
"If President Obama made the deals that I have made, both at the Border and for the Economy, the Corrupt Media would be hailing them as Incredible, & a National Holiday would be immediately declared,"

History / How different would WW2 turned out if Poland accepted Hitler's offer [219]

"Normandy" landing with its 4000 dead on day one, was the biggest bullsh** ever and a colossal waste of men and money.

And if the truth be known......well I will tell it here and now.
President Dwight (Ike) Eisenhower used Normandy as a diversion knowing full well that our G.I.'s would be sitting ducks and be slaughtered.
Oh yes, he knowingly used/sacrificed our boys as cannon fodder for the diversion.
Ike had to draw the Germans to the coast to spread their lines thin to be able to carryout the real attack.
Google it and read about this yourself.
Somehow this always gets forgotten in our history books.

Shameless people don't need Facebook to do that as a forum seems to be sufficient in accomplishing that goal.

Food / Polish Dinner for Boyfriend - what to cook? [34]

If you want to win this guy over make him a Kielbasa Reuben.
Half American and half Polish and very simple to make.
You will need the following:

Some kielbasa sausage
dark pumpernickel bread
Russian Dressing
Gouda cheese (sliced)
sauerkraut (well drained)
butter

1.Cook the whole kielbasa unsliced in a pan until heated through and browned.
2.Put a piece of cheese on each of 4 slices of bread.
3.Spread the Russian dressing over the cheese on all four slices.
4.Put the sauerkraut on two halves.
5.Cut the Kielbasa into ¼ inch slices and put it on the other two halves.
6.Heat a flat grill pan and melt butter to cover the whole surface.
7.When the butter starts to get frothy lay all four slices down with topping facing up.
8.Cover loosely with a sheet of foil.
9.Keep the heat on medium so that the cheese melts before the bread gets too browned.
10.Once the cheese melts, combine the two halves and slice in half.
11. Put a sliced dill pickle on the side.

A couple of those with a couple of beers and he will fall asleep in your arms.

Genealogy / What are common Polish character traits? [425]

I think you are mixing two words here.

Which two ?
It's you who is mixixing words, go re read my post.

However I don't expect you to understand.

You obviously don't as you skirted my point and turned it into your point by mixing words.
My point was that the Polish/Eurp members here often post with insultive posts of how stupid and what idiots Americans are.
Yet when the Americans fire back with an insult the Poles go right up on their ear with, "How dare you talk to us like that."

Which brings us back to one of the Polish character traits.
No big deal to me personally because I have learned how to laugh at myself which most Poles are incapable of doing.
Poles are incapable of constructive criticism in case you haven't noticed here.

Genealogy / What are common Polish character traits? [425]

These type of threads are pointless anyway,

Not really Pam.
Have you noticed how the Polish members here (not all of them but most) refer to the West and America with condescending and derogatory remarks daily.

If we the West respond in such a manner we get suspended for, Not using the ignore function.
This thread however allows the Westerners to poke a little fun back at the Polish members legally.
And as you have seen here, when we do, the Polish members feel really insulted to think someone could poke fun back at them.
They have a mini meltdown to think this is allowed here.
How dare you !
Which brings us back to another Polish trait......the Polish enjoy dishing out the yuk yuks but are totally offended if someone pokes them back with one.

Genealogy / What are common Polish character traits? [425]

Touchy Touchy delph, do you forget that I inherited some of these traits myself.

Because it insults, provokes and baits Polish people?

It does ? Thank you for confirming my point.
Or is that just another Polish trait, "they don't know how to laugh at themselves" and have huge inferiority complexes.
At least I have over come that one.
All the other threads in this forum it is dished out about those stupid Westerners by provoking them and that seems to be o.k.

So I guess we can add this one to the list too of, don't you dare point out the obvious Polish trait of having huge inferiority complexes.

Genealogy / What are common Polish character traits? [425]

This is one of my favorite threads here.
Reading the Polish reactions/meltdowns when they get called out on their Polish traits.
Some of these post describe the typical Pole perfectly and are down right hilarious.
The Polish do make excellent smashed potato's however.

Food / What do non-Poles think about eating the following Polish foods? [1450]

It suggests that he doesn't know how to cook without following instuctions.

But I am not the one that has my meat turning out to be soggy and nasty on the bottom side because I didn't have the common sense to flip it half way thru cooking it when using this product because I thought I knew it all.

Even a cooks helper would have the brains to do that. geesh !

... the breading on the bottom side is moist and nasty..

Better stick to flipping burgers to keep yourself safe.

Jonnhy, you don`t know what you are talking about.

Oh I know exactly what I am talking about, it's you who is not listening.

You hypocrite!

How so Mr. Grumpy. Did I say that I ate that stuff ? No I did not so quit projecting lies.
If you choose to put your cutlets in "brine" before you coat them with bread crumbs then you have ater'.
I choose to use eggs and flour.

we weren`t aware of your intentions behind your words.

Well we sure are aware of your intentions of being an ass for no reason aren't we.
Now you gonna lose some weight or keep digging your hole deeper.
Who would think some Pollock would have a meltdown over bread crumbs. lol

Food / What do non-Poles think about eating the following Polish foods? [1450]

Master Chef Rev is here to help.
The directions on the box say to flip it after twenty minutes and let it bake for another twenty minutes to avoid that from happening.

baking breaded things is just so wrong...

I guess it's all on how and where you've been fetched up.

No, they use brine and then bread crumbs.

Quit being an ass.
Have you ever used Shake & Bake bread crumbs ?
Eggs and flour optionable.
Nothing worse then teaching a teacher.
Looking forward to some Łazanki at my local P. restaurant as soon as I can drive again.
