Slowaks are VERY similar to Poles in so many ways.
History,culture,cuisine,character and language
Most Slowaks understand spoken Polish.
The reverse is not true.
I put that down to Slowaks having a broader ear for different accents than Poles.
As for work ethic......as a UK born man of 100% Polish blood it shames me to say that Slowaks win hands down.....
I have never employed a lazy Slowak.
Many Poles are as hard working as The Slowaks,but I have had a few lazy ones.....

Polish/Jewish relations are extremely complex.
We share so much in common and yet there is still a deep rooted distrust of each other.
My father did a lot of business with a Polish Jew,I'm talking about the 1960's here.
The Jewish Pole even came to our house a few times,but I'm not sure that Dad ever let him in as I can't remember his face.

Anyway,I never knew his name because Dad always called him "Zyd".......

My family was also from Kresy and spent time in a Siberian "holiday camp",my grandmother died there.
Despite The Jews heavy collaboration with the Russians I hold nothing against Jews in general.

I very much agree with the Polish affinity to Czechs and Slowaks.
I have several Slowak friends and they understand Polish easily.
Our countries have so much in common too, on so many different levels.

I really can't understand why people keep posting this rubbish.
1.Poles will never trust Russians.With very good reasons.Therefore a Russo-Polski unity can be forgotten.
2.Poles and everyone with the possible exception of Russia will not help Serbs retake Kosovo.
3.Poles have always regarded themselves as "Central European" and not "Eastern European" like our fellow Slavs.
We have always leant more to the West in cultural,artistic and other ways.

Forget this Slav union.It is never going to happen!

The fact is that most Poles behaved admirably during the war.Many going even too far.
The repercussions to a Poles family for helping Jews was worse than in any other country in Europe.
And still,many Poles took that risk and helped Jews....
There were some bad Poles.
There were some bad Jews.
There were many bad Germans and Russians.
Many Polish Jews did join the Polish army later and fought bravely.
I have never heard any stories of Jews helping Poles though.
But many of the reverse when some Jews conspired with The Russians against Poles.
