Poles and Polesses have taken part in 3 elections within the last 7 months - national, local gov and EU ones.
Now politicians are getting ready for the next year when the President of Poland will be chosen. The current one finishes his second term and can`t run for the post.
Mr Rafał Trzaskowski, the mayor of Warsaw, with pro-democratic background, is said to be the most prospective candidate. He ran for presidency in 2019 and lost it to PIS candidate by a small margin.

The Festival of Soviet Russian Song was organised in Zielona Góra in communist Poland. As a small boy, I knew nothing about it coz it wasn`t broadcast on TV. It was only covered by papers which I didn`t read. As a teenager and uni student I heard about the festival but me and my mates considered it degeneracy and singers who performed there were renegades to us, especially in times of Solidarity and martial law.
To my surprise as an adult man, I learned that a lot of popular and even famous singers started their careers there when they were young. They didn`t boast of their participation in the festival for the reasons mentioned above.
One of them is Michał Bajor. Amasing, but he won the 1973 Festival with this song. And he was only 16 years old!!! What a voice!

In many important issues, it is not the European Parliament that has the decisive say in European affairs and it can hardly be called the most important EU body. Even though it is the only EU body elected in direct elections . More important are primarily the European Commission and the EU Council, whose composition is not determined in such elections.
But it is the European Parliament that elects the President of the European Commission and approves the composition of the Commission . Which means that the legal and political importance of the EP cannot be underestimated.
