History / Occupation of Eastern Poland in 1939 [98]

And the allies in the west didn't invade?

The British did not stay for nearly fifty years like The Russians did.

What would you count as "ready"? They invaded the Saar territory!

French arrogance. It was a half hearted invasion which they never backed up with the force they intended.
It cost The French and The Poles dear.

Did the treaty say " we will help you only if we judge that we are ready"?

The agreement was not specific.

It contained promises of mutual military assistance between the nations and for Britain and Poland to "consult together on measures to be taken in common".

Don't forget that Britain declared war on Germany and lost many civilian as well as military lives as a result.

The French were never ready, which is why The Germans conquered them so easily.
As for The Maginot line, been there, seen it, Verdun especially, what a waste of time!
The British were ready by the summer of 1940 when they started bombing Germany.

The Anglo-French were not ready as you well know.
The French knew they were in a war when German tanks rolled over their border and The British knew they were in a war when the bombs started dropping.

I can still remember, as a kid, being driven through parts of London that were full of bombed out houses.

The Americans and Brits claim they liberated Europe, conveniently forgetting the sacrifice of the Soviets.

The Russian sacrifice was not to "Liberate" but to invade.

Funny but most Russians believe the war started in 1941 when the USSR was attacked by Germany

Russians have always loved to twist history for their own benefit.
They are still doing it now.
And there are some morons on here that still watch and even believe RT!!! LOL !!!

Food / What Polish foods do foreigners generally not take to? [139]

Not only in America, it is called fromage de tĂȘte in France

And Brawn in England :-)

I too like many of these offal based dishes,Polish Salceson and Galareta and French Andouille too.

My Mum used to make Galareta from a whole pigs head, seasoned with salt, pepper and vinegar and served with some good quality bread it was a meal on it's own.

History / What do Poles owe to Germans? [451]

Poland got loans from the West German government in 1970s

They should never have been loans.
They should have been compensation.

Life / Tap Water quality in Poland [44]

Tap water in Poland used to be terribly awful some time ago

Strangely enough, the one place I was warned most not to drink tap water (by Poles) was Warsaw.
Yet I found the tap water there OK.
Mind you, we all know that Poles are terible hypochondriacs..... ;-)

Coz you sounded as if you had ventured on a tap water check expedition all over Poland

Well I didn't.
As I said, Polish tap water is perfectly safe to drink, but in some places it tastes like s**t.

Life / Tap Water quality in Poland [44]

I meant - did you visit a few dozen places in Poland and tried tap water there

I didn't like the taste of the water in Krakow or in Bialystok.
But as I said, it is safe to drink.
Why in the hell is this such a big deal for you?

Tell us more about your invaluable experience with tap water in Poland, please.

As I said, in some places it tastes like sh*t, but it is safe to drink.
In general, I would recomend bottled water in Poland.

Life / Why Polish people should be proud of being Polish? [370]

I've always tried to be most knowledgeable as possible about my ethnic ancestry

In the end, we are all mongrels of some sort.
There is no pure race as The Nazis believed.
Very few Poles could prove that they have no Jewish blood in them.
Just enjoy your rich heritage!

Off-Topic / DALMATIA - How much Poles love Dalmatia ? [123]

I don't read theologians just as I don't read about Greek myths

Lyzko, I'm with Rich on this one.
Whilst I respect your faith,my wife is a devout Catholic,it is all fairy tales designed for losers as far as I can see.

Off-Topic / The "Anglicization" of Europe [132]

It is by the same logic why the UK soccer team beat France. Collective credit walks hand in hand with collective moral responsibility

You obviously have no understanding of this at all.
There is no UK team and never will be.
There is no "collective moral responsibility"..... are you nuts?
Orbis Business Intelligence were paid to do a job on a subject that they were experts on.
Private company, good business, maybe immoral..... but you can't blame The Brits for that one.
Case closed.
Next?

Life / Poland vs Hungary for an expat? [41]

Hungary fared far better under their brand of "gulyas-communism" than most of Europe

Absolutely, but it reminds me of the old Communist days joke of the Polish and Hungarian dogs meeting half way between their countries.
The Polish dog asked why The Hungarian dog was going to Poland.
"To Eat" was his reply.
So then the Hungarian dog asked the Polish dog why he was going to Hungary.
He replied.
"To bark".

Off-Topic / The "Anglicization" of Europe [132]

If you are talking about Christopher Steele and Orbis Business Intelligence, this is a private, money making intelligence agency that happens to be British.
Nothing to do with MI6(Although he was an MI6 officer, he retired 10 years ago) and nothing to do with the British Government.
That is not the same thing as saying.

the UK helping Hillary

and the UK helping Hillary

I didn't see that in The Mueller Report.
Who in The UK?

As for intervention in elections the worst offender is The USA, closely followed by Russia.

Life / Poland vs Hungary for an expat? [41]

I like both cultures

So do I.
But as a Polish speaker I would always choose Poland over Hungary.
Much as I love Hungarians, their culture, their history and especially their cuisine, their language kills it for me.....

I believe the water in Poland is unsafe

In many parts of Poland tap water tastes like sh*t.
But it won't make you sick.
I would recommend drinking bottled water, but if you are desperate, do not be afraid of a Polish tap.

History / Do Polish people in general dislike Russia or Germany more? [369]

Pure speculation.
Just as with Russia, nothing can be proved.
But why are you defending such a failure of a country as Russia?
Outside of Moscow, St.Petersburg and a handful of tiny enclaves it is virtually a third world country on the edge of Europe.
Many parts of Russia are no better off than Belarus.
I have an engineer friend who spent most of his working life on projects in Africa.
He got a 3 month contract for a job in Minsk,Belarus.
On his return,he was shocked...he told me it was like "a white africa in europe".
Russia is not much better.
Your support of Russia is as hypocritical as Jeremy Corbyn's support for Venezuela.

Brits, on the other hand, tried to help Hillary

That is a sweeping statement.
Which Brits?
And which Brits didn't try to help her?
Back to RT, you see, I can listen to or watch The BBC in full knowledge of their bias and decode the real news.
Just as you can with The American news outlets.
What neither of us can do is know or predict or decode what RT are trying to do.
They are much more sophisticated than the old days of Radio Moscow, where farm quotas and tractor production levels would send you to sleep......and even those were lies.

This is why they are untrustworthy and dangerous.
