History / What do Poles owe to Germans? [451]

Cut the crap, you Gerries got better deal than you deserved after WW2, If not the cold war, you could still be divided into occupation zones today.

Poland received Silesian, Pomeranian or Prussian treasures instead

And there are still many items stolen in Poland in German hands.

saying Silesia, Pomerania and Prussia are a small compensation

Germany never compensated Poland with these lands... You had nothing to say in this case, Soviets took them away from Germany and "compensated" Poland for the lands annexed in the east, so It was a case between Soviet Union and Poland on one hand and Soviet Union and Germany on the other one, It had nothing to do with Polish-German relations.

History / 'Battle of Britain' won thanks to Polish aces !! [158]

having said that I think it is good dark things from history are also revealed

If they are true (in this case It's hard to say) and If they are discussed among (professional or not) historians, in this case we all now it's just trolling coming from a disgusting creature.

History / 'Battle of Britain' won thanks to Polish aces !! [158]

That is usually a very good sign that somebody knows that they have lost the argument.

Which argument ? You were desperately trying to find something negative about Polish soldiers in the UK and after long time spent on googling, you found some grandma claiming that when she was 18, she beat up two Polish soldiers (ah sorry, animals), killing one of them, trully fascinating. Is "Well Done Harry !" ok ?

News / Polish final report on Smoleńsk aircrash [859]

Some would believe it was all the fault of the Russians whatever evidence were produced.

And some will believe it for many, many years. It's not surprising in this case. "Government" left it all to the Russians, claimed that cooperation with Russians is excellent and It turned out to be ******, claimed that all the bodies were perfectly identified and it turned out that pieaces of different bodies were mixed together and put into coffines like that, blamed it all on the pilots from day one when in fact it was a matter of incorrect training/supervision/procedures etc. insinuated "preassure" when there was not any, Georgia was a totally different case... So now many people will not believe in anything official institutions are saying about this airplane crash.

Either Tusk is totally impotent and shouldn't run anything more serious than a village shop or he is an evil man, who did it on purpose, so now he can position himself and his gang in opposition to "freaks, who believe that Kaczynski was killed by Russians".

News / Polish final report on Smoleńsk aircrash [859]

it's clear from the report that every single government from 1994 has some liability here.

That's obvious.

Which had dropped from Mars, you forgot to add. :):):):):)

No, elected by cartoonish people like you.

Life / Rich man, poor man - today`s Poland [80]

Palivec - The public sphere is "polluted" by graffity, but even more by adverts, all over Poland.

And the government of course should control it and say which of them are "nice" enough ? You're a nazi just like your grandpas, not surprisig really.

Rich man, poor man - today`s Poland

Yeah, rich 1%, poor 99%.

History / So called "inconvenient parts" of Polish history - what do you think? [157]

There many more names. Let's not deny it. Leszek Miller, Jozef Oleksy, Krzysztof Janik, to name a few ad hoc.

Very true. The thing is that both of these clowns would otherwise claim that for example Kwasniewski is a perfect democrat, a great European politician etc. and his opponents are "Polish fascists/antisemits/homophobes" etc. These koonts use SLD only now to support their idiotic claim that a large part of Polish society supported communism.

Given that slightly less than half of those able to vote did so, if we assume that communists were equally evenly represented as other groups in those who did not vote

Yes, let's assume that people who didn't vote were supporters of communists, Harry's "logic" :) Old prick, come on :))

just kept ranting about me a) being Harry

1968 expellation of Jewish holocaust survivors

You are a woman, your grandfather was in AK and the other one was killed in Katyń... Come on, we can smell a rat a mile away. Try harder next time, old prick.

Genealogy / Former Poland PM Donald Tusk - A Kashub or a German. [71]

According to Szczepuła Hitler actually shook hands with Tusks grandfather (according to eyewitnesses) an unheard of thing to do towards a slave laborer.

Interesting, I didn't know it... Anyway I think that more important If he is a Pole, German, Eskimo or whatever else is that he is working against interests of Poland and Poles.

UK, Ireland / Warning to British people visiting Poland!! Don't get drunk and smash the place up! [447]

Doubtful, since they are often high spenders

LOL ! Despite all this lefty/internationalistic/homo image, you are just a typical English koont. Right, Johny Englander is feeding starving women and children of Kraków :))) Dude, the plebs stays in cheap hostels, eat fast foods, share one Moldavian wh*ore for 5 of them etc. and most of decent places don't let them in.

and Kraków isn't, let's face it, particularly interesting to 'quality' tourists.

It isn't because the kunts are there !!!

News / Achievements of the Tusk's Polish government [532]

Bad governments tend to get kicked out. Good governments tend to get re-elected.

Do you think that Berlusconi's government is a good one ?

That's how it works in most developed countries. Poland is no exception.

Poland is hardly a developed country.

Poland is pretty much equal with the rest of the EU-8 countries, except Slovenia

You still don't get it (or rather pretend not to get it) It's not about overall economic situation but about conditions for business, which are determinated mainly by the governing politicians. Polish business hasn't collapsed yet, despite haveing to operate under terrible conditions, yes... and that proves what... ?

They can't be the worst if they're on course to be the first Government to be re-elected, can they?

You seem to believe that democracy is a kind of perfect market. When a political party is re-elected It must by good by definition then. I think you could find many examples of bad government being elected or re-elected around the world.

Look at what happened in Latvia, Ukraine, Greece, etc - investors got scared.

All of these countries had huge structural problems before the crisis, when Poland had healthy growth. Besides, Poland went down from +5-7% before the crisis to + 1-3% during the crisis, not that much different than from +2-3% to -2-3%, which was typical for EU countries.

You must be kidding.

No, I don't. You say that physical workers make 3500-4000 a month "in the cities" ?

Behind many African countries? Care to name some?

z_darius did that, I agree with him that It depends on what one means by "many" but there use to be at least a few of them in such rankings, what's more important is Poland's position among EU member states. Usually It's either the lasty one or a few places ahead of Bulgaria or Romania. The bottom line is, Poland is no a total shi*t hole not thanks to the government but despite the government.

News / Achievements of the Tusk's Polish government [532]

The first that comes to my mind: 3 years ago Russia lifted the embargo on Polish products like meat, fruit and vegetables introduced in 2005 during PiS regime`s rule. Also, Russia started cooperation over Katyn Massacre, e.g., by opening the Soviet archives.

But I am losing time because you are going to turn it down as worthless, aren`t you? :):):)

I wouldn't call It worthless, rather... extremely minimalistic... Anyway, I didn't really start this thread to discuss If something is worthless or not, I didn't bring up PiS etc. here, I am genuinely interested what are the achievements of this government according to PO voters. I find it fascinating that so far no polical party has won the elections twice in a row (some totally collapsed like AWS or SLD) but PO is still leading after almost 4 years despite being the worst of them.

Yes, provide me with respected links where I can read what you said: Poland is heavily criticized by EU for huge deficit and lack of reforms. The ratings are under huge pressure. :):):):)

I see you have started to learn.

In January you commited this thread:
Poland is going bankrupt

Not bad. Keep up good work.

I feel sorry for you If you really don't understand the difference between economic growth and the situation of public finances.

In general, Tusk's achievement has been to promote Poland as an island of stability - a kind of Germany-lite if you will. You can see this from the endless foreign commentaries about Poland - the country is seen as stable and somewhat reliable. That has helped Poland no end

How did that help Poland ?

I noticed recently that the rates for a decent, reliable physical worker are going through the roof.

Yep, something like 7-10 PLN/h.

Uh, the current Government is actually doing quite a good job of it.

Of what ? In case of corruption or conditions for business we are behind many African countries and nothing has been improved.

News / Achievements of the Tusk's Polish government [532]

I think the endless new offices, warehouses and factories going up in Poznan and Wroclaw speak for themselves.

You are missing the point. I didn't ask people to describe dynamic of the Polish economy (which isn't bad compared to average in Europe, however there are very serious threats) I asked what Tusk and his government has done to improve things in Poland.

News / Achievements of the Tusk's Polish government [532]

Tusk is seen as a beacon of stability in Eastern Europe by business.

Slogan again. Definately not by the Polish one. You mean foreign corporations ? Prove it, provide facts. Did Poland's share in foreign investments located in Central Europe grew in times of Tusk ?

That in itself is a huuuuge achievement in the current crisis...

What the government did to make that happen ? Like I said, It's an achievement of the government as much as nice weather over the summer. Please provide facts If you don't agree with me -> changes made by the government, which improved the economy.

What about that?

LOL ! "Pension reform" is a huge step backward, one of the worst things they have done, Education reform was done many years ago and health reform's main idea is commercialisation of individual hospitals without changes in the system, which will probably result in public property worth tens of billions being taken over for pennies by various cliques.

News / Achievements of the Tusk's Polish government [532]

We gained better atmosphere which helps to create favourable conditions for cooperation and investment. Is it so difficult to understand? You are really surprising me now.

I see not even one good deal Poland got thanks to Tusk's smile. Please provide the list of them If you don't agree with that.

Are all projects of bad quality?

Of course not, where did I say that ? Some are of good quality, some aren't, just like under previous governments, so Tusk improved nothing, that's why I don't see how It is is his achievement. Because he kept status quo ?

Hey, can you read Polish at all? If you can, do you understand what you read in Polish? Did you read that article you provided? Could you read it again, with greater understanding? Then you should find out there is nothing about EU, heavily, are under huge pressure, lack of reforms, or huge deficit.

If I provide you with a dozen of links from respected sources proving what I said, will you agree with me or call me a PiS fanatic, Rydzyk supported, homophobe and anti-Semite ?

PO voters are educated, intelligent, dynamic, active in their private life and careers.

Especially pawian the teacher and his marvelous "career" :)))

Hmm, really? I can see some contradictory statements in your post about the army.

Yes, really. Please point them out.

News / Achievements of the Tusk's Polish government [532]

Torq is most definitely a voter of neither PO and PiS. Gumishu as well - both are real right wingers, not faux conservatives like PiS and PO.

Do they both agree with that list ?

if it was as simple as you suggest, so many European countries wouldn`t be experiencing such enormous economic problems now.

Hmm I'm not sure If I understand your reasoning... Let me put it this way, would Sweden be in a better economic situation If the corruption level was there like in Poland ? Or would Poland be in a better economic situation If the corruption level was here like in Sweden ?

Show me the country where the public sector is effective and inexpensive.

Public sector can be more or less effective (If you really don't understand that, please stop wasting our time). In Poland It is much more effective than average in Africa but much less effective than average in EU and I see no significant steps to change that.

News / Achievements of the Tusk's Polish government [532]

Will you ever odczepić się? :):):)

Am I forcing you to participate in this discussion ?

I appreciate the effort you made to write this long post and I can even forgive you the personal attacks from the previous one, however I was asking for facts. Let's take a look at your list.

Points 3-5 are irrevelant, you could as well write about Tusk's successes in playing football.

Point 6. The foreign policy of Tusk is the one of smiles and shake hands, which itself isn't generating any value added for the citizens of Poland. What did we get out of it ? Do we pay now fair price for Russian gas or much more than Germans ? Smiles and shake hands could be good for the first year to prepare the ground for the real deals. Can you point out any of them ?

Point 7. "Under Tusk rule, Poland is making a good use of European funds". In quantitive terms we spend a lot but often just to spend it without much thinking about the quality of these projects, so we have for example some EU funded trainings for jobless people, which are pretty much useless in the reality of the labor market. It's been like that under previous governments, no matter If SLD or PiS were the main political parties in the Parliament. Tusk didn't screw this one up but he hasn't improved It either.

8. In result, Poland abounds with new developments.

9 In result of the above, the preparations to EURO 2010 Championships are in full swing and won`t be delayed.

I tend to listen to experts and they, such as people from ZDG TOR, a respected think-tank focused on transport, are saying this: railways = disaster, roads = at best average. Comparing that with my own observations, I think It's fair opinion. If you don't agree with that, please provide supporting facts.

10. No more compulsory military service The army is professional now.

I used to serve in the army and am quite familar with this issue. The army is not professional. We don't have draft anymore but itself It didn't make the army professional. It is undertrained, ill-equipped and organized. The main difference is that more money is now being spend on salaries, less on training and equipment. Furthermore, no structural changes were made (and there are no even plans for that), so with 100k soldiers we have a command structure like for 250k soldiers. In result the ratio of privates to officers is ~1.6 to 1 when a helthy one would be 5 to 1. Moreover, the process of "professionalization" was done the way that they had stopped the draft long before the large scale recruitment of "professional" soldiers was started. For over a year most of combat units were not able to perform any tasks, they simply had no people. This one actually perfectly shows the philosophy of PO, they scored some points among the youngest voters and It's all that matters. Read what Petelicki, Skrzypczak, Hypki and all independent experts are talking about the situation in the army, they all agree that Klich is the worst person in charge of MOD in the history of the 3rd RP.

Now the most important:

2. In result, Poland has good ratings and enjoys the trust of foreign investors.

Not at all. Facts say something much different. Poland is heavily criticized by EU for huge deficit and lack of reforms. The ratings are under huge pressure. Read this one, you can find tonnes of similar stuff, It's not PiS conspiracy.

1. The steady economic growth throughout the crisis - the (in)famous so called green island:

What the government actually did to point it out as its success ? Please provide the facts. It seems to be a government success as much as nice weather during summer would be. Please provide supporting facts If you don't agree with that.

All in all, I appreciate the effort you made, however most of the points are PR slogans spread by the government, not the facts I was expecting. If I went to my CEO asking for 20% salary increase saying things like: 1. I improved the quality of our products 2. I reduced our operating costs 3... without providing supporting facts like: 1. I revised our quality control policy changing a)... b)... c)... which resulted in 30% decrease of quality related complaints from our clients. 2. I implemented new training procedures for new workers, which let reduce the period of training from 5 to 3 weeks without loses in quality and that let us save x million annually. 3.... etc. he would be rolling on the floor laughing.
