Any sort of purge, be it lefty libitard orAlt-righty, is WRONG! At least listen to the other side before condeming outright. Even the Holocaust itself has proven itself rarely to be cut-and-dried!! There are usually extenuating aka mitigating circumstances to be considered in a fair evaluation. Presuming some fifty-plus year-old Polish judge is an unrepenetant Communist is like the old saying "Don't trust anyone over thirty!" because they're assumed to be part of "the problem", oft repeated during the late '50's on into the late '60's.

"unreconstructed" former Communists, long deemed unfit to serve on the bench.

I enjoy the too few times I've celebrated Polish birthday gatherings. As I recollect, once the birthday boy (or girl) is toasted, the whole assembled body cries in unison

"STO LAT! STO LAT!", upon which normally (at least in my experience) alchohol is promptly consumed, usually either some variety of bimber or zubrowka!

Germany is no longer "under the US boot", pal, hasn't been either for years now, and counting:-)

Those monuments to hatred, namely Treblinka, Majdanek etc. on then "German-occupied" territory, are no reflection on either present-day Poland and/or Germany.
Surely, nobody here (I hope) is espousing dangerous nonsense such as "FORGET KATYN!", or "MOVE ON FROM AUSCHWITZ!" and the like. However, to hold contemporary Europe eternally responsible for the crimes on the past (albeit on their native soil), is to make any sort of future redemption as well as bridge-building next to impossible for the next generations.

Sorry if this sounds idealistic.

The entire region of East Prussia once was German territory prior to the Red takeover. Despite the changes, it must retain a German character.

As I'm certain you're aware, Poland continues to demand the "return" of formerly "purloined Polish" territories, eventually taken over by the Germans during WWII and still squarely in German hands aka all of current/former "Eastern" Germany, long since under the Basic Law of (at that time) West Germany which guaranteed the return of formerly-Prussian land to the present FRG!

Koenigsberg fell to the Soviets, appropriately re-named "Kaliningrad" after the once famous Russian Communist agitator Mikhail Kalinin.
Whereas the Russians were once one of America's strongest allies in their common fight against the Nazis, this all changed drastically with the advent of the Cold War.

Should you need any convincing as to how the Russian threat went on to terrorize much of East Europe long after Germany ceased to be a menace to the West, just look at Budapest 1956, Prague 1968, and Crimea 2016.
