Food / Poles prefer pizza & kebab? [73]

Well, they have loads of soups like we do.

I was only kidding, of course I know they have a wide variety of delicious foods. My favourite soup is Żurek. I even convinced my dad, which is a passionate cook to make it by bringing two of those bottles of prefabricated...what is it? Bouillon for Żurek? He too loved it.

You mean to say they have more types of food than Haggis and Scotch Broth? :)))

News / RUSSIA TO MAKE PUBLIC THE KATYN FILES... [274]

Would it make life easier if they'd open up the archives on Katyn? If yes then I'm all for it, but if it doesn't, why bother? Indeed, like Seanus said, we all know what happened there, does it really matter to know exactly who shot who? Is that the main thing to know? Isn't it much more important the event is being recognized and we finally all can move on?

Edit: when I wrote this, I missed Wroclaw's post. If there are two thousand names missing, then indeed it would be a good thing to open up and hand over the lists.

Genealogy / The last name is Krzywoszyja. Help? Am I Polish? [30]

Ask yourself a few questions:

1) do I have a natural tendency to complain?
2) do I have a natural tendency to blame everybody else except myself?
3) do I have a natural disliking towards Jews?
4) am I rabiately Catholic?
5) am I inclined to keep on whinging and whining about the past?

If you can answer "yes" to at least three of the above questions, there is a very big chance that you are indeed Polish.

Traditional Polish dishes such as soups, pierogi and zapiekanka are losing out to take-away kebabs and pizzas.

Yeah, so?

Life / How would you describe the Polish sense of humour? [66]

Oh, you're an expert on Polish sense of humour

Well, I'm not, but I know that the three smallest books in the history of mankind are: 1) A history of German humor; 2) An overview of French militairy victories and 3) A history of the Italian militairy.

UK, Ireland / Polish immigrants in the UK - victims or criminals?! [243]

fokoff is just an invitation to a casual sex

Hm, most casual sex I had with local girls wasn't preceded by "fokoff", only once or twice maybe. Maybe they wanted to induce me into this part of the rich Irish folklore.

UK, Ireland / Polish immigrants in the UK - victims or criminals?! [243]

I myself have hardly met any vicious approach at myself being a foreigner. But then again, I am a pretty big guy and I look quite strong, so all those yabs will think twice. However, I've come across it a few times, but mostly within the poorer areas of Dublin and even then mostly by women. Those times were rarely a physical attack but merely sth in the order of "fokoff to your own country" without any reason or suddenly stopping to talk with me when they find out that I'm not Irish. But that was only a handful of times and usually I am capable enough of giving a more than decent reply. :)

I think with the Poles it's because there are so many of them. Locals saw the tidal wave of Polish workers as a threat and in a way you cannot blame them for it, it's threatening to be suddenly in the middle of a huge group of ppl who hardly speak English. But it's unfamiliarity and ignorance that causes these attacks. Stupid ppl who don't think further than their noses are long, as we say in NL. And usually it's a very small group that spoils it for the majority of good ppl. It's always like that.

I wish you good luck and I hope you will remain to see the good sides of the British as I am sure there are a lot of good ppl still.

Anecdote: in a nightclub I was looking around and happened to look at an average girl a for about 5 seconds. Even though she was not that good looking and kinda fat, she still was a stuck up, uppety biatch. She shouted at me: "what are you looking at?" "Nothing special", I replied. She went silent and ran off.

(cut load of rubbish)grubas - posting from the USA and not PL.

Hm, an American saying that all foreigners in PL need to get the *peep* out of there? Does anybody notices the irony of this all?

Btw, I think grubas is mildly deranged.

HELLO!! they have polish blood!!

When you're born in the US, you're American. Country of birth determines generally your nationality. Doesn't matter if your grandpa was Irish, Italian, Dutch, German or Polish. Can't stand it when Americans tell me: "hey, I'm Irish!" or "Hey, I'm Dutch too!" No, you're not! Were you born in Ireland or the Netherlands or in Poland? No? In the US? Then you're American. Ad sec.

solidarity from Ukraine

Solidarity from the EU: in every memberstate the Flag will be halfmast to honour the Polish President. Before every EU-meeting there will be a two minute silence.

I would love to give a link, but it's in Dutch. But you can assume that it's true anyway.

Here's one from Harvard University:

That quote is not from a Jew, but from an Afro-American. And besides, in case you didn't know, Jews belong to the white race too. Words like this will never be used by any Jew therefore. And besides this, yet again demonize an entire ppl of what one individual expresses as his opinion? Surely if I look hard enough I can find some statement by somebody Polish that says that all Jews should be annihiliated; would that make the entire ppl of Poland look bad? No. It's just the opinion of one single person.

News / Polish President Lech Kaczynski and gov officials die in a plane crash in Russia [686]

Hm, just read that the aeroplane they flew in wasn't the safest of all sorts: since 1973 there have been 30 crashes with this type of Toepolev, costing 3000 lives. There had been trouble with this plane before, even after it received a check-up at the end of last year. Apparently in Haiti after the earthquake there it wouldn't come off the ground. An eyewitness in Smolensk told reporters that he heard the plane, but that the engines didn't sound right. He couldn't even SEE the aeroplane as the fog was too thick.

I think mechanical failure and the weather conditions are to blame for this terrible accident.

I wouldn't have thought that Jews had an interest in such an event but, then again, there are dots which have still been left unjoined.

Isn't it pssbl that it was just another airplane crash as they happen frequently? That the only thing that differs this one from all the others is that the Polish president, the head of the Polish Bank and the Chief of the Polish Army was in there? Or is it just a favourite pastime to fantasize that it might be different than it looks?

I don't believe it! I just finished writing my condonlences to the Polish ppl and came with the usual besides after my initials that I wondered how long it would take before the first conspiracies would arrive. A few minutes. Wow, not even I expected it to be so fast :S

Language / Polish was chosen the HARDEST LANGUAGE in the world to learn... :D [1558]

the influence of the spoken language on the persons patterns of thinking, values etc. Language carries much more then just words

Well, language is to determine the cultural identity anyway. Cultural borders are usually the language borders. The cultural border between NL and FR, for example runs through the middle of Belgium. A cultural entity is only then a full cultural entity when it has its own language. When it doesn't, it can have its own culture and all, but it will never be a cultural entity.

Life / Has feminism and lesbianism progressed in Poland? [645]

homosexuality is very sparse in a country that's over 98% Catholic....surprise surprise.

Actually I wouldn't say that. I think it's just about the same numbers as anywhere else in the world, with he exception that ppl are more silent about it, don't dare to come out of the closet because of the reigning morale in the country. A Polish friend of mine is gay, but he didn't tell anybody of his family, not even his mom, because she would kick him out of the family if he would. I think that's the reason why it SEEMS there is not so much homosexuality in Poland.

Well, what you expect when the men are so hideous and the women are so gorgeous?

Life / Racism in Poland - the future [441]

MareGaea, I'm more happy that you haven't been around that much.

Do I care about this? Heck no, I don't care if you are more happy about that.

As it turns out now, there are huge numbers of Catholic priests that have indeed been sexually abusing children - nothing neo Bolshevic about this...Even the CC admits it.

Poland is part of the EU - nobody forced them into it, they signed voluntarily. They will take part in everything the EU wants them to do, or else they can leave the EU and let's see if they will do so well. Usefullidiot lives in some time in the past. Probably he's not even Polish, but American, but I don't know that. He spawns the same nonsense as so many idiots here spout. Therefore he's a useless idiot indeed.

Given the simple keywords: Jewish Bankers - One Country One Ethnicity you can be pretty sure from which side the wind is blowing. There are too much idiots like that around already, no need for more.

You have chosen the right nickname, perhaps it would be more fitting if you would just remove the "usefull" (actually "useful" is written with one l) and replace it with F*cking.

Because that's what you are.

Polonia / What about the Poles living in Germany? [65]

where newspaper writes against the "polish flood" and grafitys with "polish out" were sprays (as i heard)

Well as TS I would like to thank you for your contribution :) Finally somebody Polish who's actually living in Germany and comes to this forum. Indeed, you're right, the British are pretty racist, more than the Germans are in fact. Although that's a fact that they don't like to hear :)

And you won't hear the Brits admit too often to British racism as this forum seems to be dominated by Brits and Americans ;) Of course, exceptions do the rule and plenty of them are good ppl, let's be clear about that. As for the infamous Polish anti-semitism, as far as it exists, it mainly lives in the heads of the Americans of Polish and Russian descent.

But thanks again for your contribution, Marek!

Jesus was a Jew?...

Of course he was.

jesusisajew.org/Jesus_is_a_Jew.php

That Yeshua was born Jewish is one of the least contested truths of the Bible. The very first verse of the New Covenant reads: The book of the genealogy of Messiah Yeshua ("Jesus Christ"), the son of David, the son of Abraham (Matt. 1:1). Who were Abraham and David?

Genealogy / Jewish Roots of Poland [638]

Christianity does have Jewish roots

Jesus and his parents were Jews.

Jews didn't recognize Christianity as a religion, but merely as a weak extract of their own religion, which in fact it is. The godfathers of Christianity didn't like that, hence they made nasty remarks about the Jews. Too many idiots in history didn't see it as it was: an uttering of mere frustration at the refusal of the Jews to recognize and to convert to their religion, as it is a habit of Christianity to try and convert each and everyone to their religion. Hence you got all the crap that has been going on against the Jews throughout history.

Life / Why Do You Love Poland? [907]

jarnowa

That's a gross exaggeration you got there. So, the masses of non-Western (I take it you mean Non-European, as Polish ppl are considered non-Western as well) get up the minute they arrive and all of them, not a single exception, cause trouble? I could give you the same advice, my friend.

I am not a romantic, not by far. Nor am I a dreamer. Poland will have to believe in it sooner or later. They want to share in the wealth of being a member of the EU, they will have to take their share in immigration. Wether they like it or not. And what's this nonsense that you have to trade in your culture when you allow immigrants to come live in your country? What's gonna get lost? The all white culture? Yeah, you will see a couple more coloured faces in the streets, but that will be it. Get used to it, it's the modern world and just like Polish ppl came to us to work as here is where the money is to be made, and they were welcome as far as I'm concerned, so are ppl from other, much poorer places in this world.

So, I would give you the same advice: get real as immigration is part of life now, whether you like it or not. And if you don't like it, just try to get used to it. But given the remark you made earlier to LTB, I don't take it you're living in Poland.
