"Shitstorm" 's a great example. It only goes to show the difference between why the Europeans use English as opposed to why we Anglophones use words from European languages; the Poles, Germans etc. use English out of laziness whereas we do it out of cultural aesthetic:-)

It's the same sort of either/or-type thinking here in the NY-tri State area; either you have an Internet hook up at home paid for by the semi-employed worker or drop dead! If vaccines are manditory, pre-existing conditions be damned. The smart way to handle matters is for a doctor to sign off as to whether or not the person in question is physically able to withstand such a vaccine BEFORE the person is injected:-)

As with many languages pre-digitization, much older printing tended to reflect a deep and abiding respect above all for the written over the spoken word! In English, just take a look at typical fonts from the early '7O's, certainly way prior such as the '3O's, not to mention the 19th century.

Possibly these "antiquated" font styles might look by comparison similar to the differences between for example modern German script vs. Fraktur, Golgothic(? not sure of the spelling) and contemporary Albanian.

"Relevant" however for totally different reasons. The US has akways seen herself as a safe haven. It's a messy job, but somebody's got to do it, so why stop now?
