News / POcopalypse of Poland. [28]

ice cream called Calypso in different flavours

It is worth mentioning that:
Calypso ice cream has been made since 1959 by the same company Lodmor located in Gdańsk. AmaSSSSSSSSing!

Mr Honourable Prime Minister Reverend Donald Holy Tusk also comes from Gdańsk. Wow!

Local inhabitants were lucky to have a constant access to Calypso.

just threatening it.

Yes, darling, you should ponder deeply on what Atch told you. One day Mr Honourable Prime Minister Reverend Donald Holy Tusk might want to teach you a lesson and his lawyers will find you and file a defamation suit. In America. How much will you have to pay in damages if convicted??? Do you possess those millions already in your account or you will have to sell the house with this infamous basement and all other property of yours..... :):):) hahahaha

The best thing you can do now is relax on libel in your next posts. Also, beg the Staff to remove all your libelous posts, one by one. Not for free, of course. First you need to make a huuuuge donation to the forum.

History / What do Poles owe to Hungarians? [275]

Trump mentioned Hungarian Prime Minister during the debate with Kamala Harris:"One of the most respected people. Called a strong man. He is a tough person. A wise prime minister of Hungary."

God bless America, if the candidate for president of the United States relies on Viktor Orban who has introduced soft dictatorship in Hungary.
That is why decent Poles/Polesses support Kamala.

Stability. People didn't have to worry about job stability or basic life necessities

Strange but I have to disagree. The latest peak of births in Poland was in 1980s, during martial law, which you could hardly call times of stability - shortages of basic products, queues, regime`s brutality. Do you remember that nearly 1 million people emigrated from that stable paradise in 1980s??
The previous peak took place right after WW2 which also weren`t such peaceful times.

The answer is different - there were more births in communist times coz the society was patriarchal - hugely oriented on satisfying males` needs and disregarding women`s. Women were dominated and often had no choice but to bear a few kids.

Educated women realise they have been exploited by shrewd men to do everything while male masters sit on a comfy sofa and expect full service. No more!

Exactly!

Wow, amasing controversy.
White-tailed Eagle, or Birkut
The white-tailed eagle is our largest bird of prey and one of the largest birds in Poland. It does not belong to the same genus as eagles and differs from them in many ways. For example, it is largely fish-eating. It owes its name to the white feathers on its tail. Many believe that it is therefore our heraldic bird, but there are doubts about this.

I did not call

Yes, you did. You said ALL your propaganda and ALL is always plural. You can`t say that your ALL referred to my sources coz I provided only one source in post 46. Your ALL referred to our sources combined. Ha! It is obvious you called leftie Feniks and me!

liberal leans slightly to the left,

You got your directions wrong. I am a liberal who leans to the right in economic issues. Ha!
I feel better off now

Sorry, we don`t believe this assertion. You will say anything now to avoid losing an argument.

Milo, for Goddess sake, stop arguing. Kneel down and apologise to Feniks.

Exports

Exports schmexports. We are talking about common people`s life standard which hasn`t improved as it was promised by brexit charlatans. It has become even worse.

All your "Leftie Propaganda"

Don`t call Feniks a leftie. She isn`t. She is just a decent British woman who feels cheated on by brexit conmen.

Yes, but you only see your close neighbourhood and nothing else cos you are so attached to it. While we, as aliens to Britain, are able to see the whole of it, each minute aspect coz we are not emotionally bonded. Ha!!! Do you mean what I know???

Life / Owning a house in true countryside of Poland - stories [692]

But still seeing them at a close distance is an interesting experience.

Today, when I went out to the garden, I had a strange encounter with two birds - a pidgeon first and later a blackbird. They were staying on the ground and didn`t fly away when I approached, like 1 metre away. The pidgeon was sitting on the gate leading to the orchard while the blackbird was under a raspberry bush when I was picking fruit. They were totally fearless.
I was in deep shock.
Were they the souls of the previous owners of the farm for whom I regularly say prayers, even today, and they wanted to show me I do the right thing for them?

Language / Game - guess Polish idioms/sayings in direct English translation - part 2 [730]

a red count is somehow traitorous

Possible but not necessarily included in the meaning. A red count was a nobility member who cherished democratic socialist ideas, especially when he owned property which brought profit, e.g, a giant farm or factory etc. He treated people working there in a decent way, offering them a lot of benefits, trying to improve the living and working conditions etc. Contrary to non red counts who exploited their workers and ignored their misery.

Na drugą nogę?

Yes. And when is it used???

A new one:
dad and mum!

Food / Today's Polish Sunday dinner? [30]

there was a lot of drinking during those years

I tend to believe you. I can still hear such stories from nowadays. In wintertime, modern peasants aka farmers are bored coz hardly any work needs to be done in the fields so they stay at home and drink heavily. I am sure it was the same in communist times.
In cities, though, people were able to find more diverse entertainment so they didn`t need to drink so often. Hence our delicate disagreement. :):):)

I lived in a Polish village,

And that is why Lenka and Alien and me too, tend to disagree with you that alcohol was on every table to every meal 40 years ago. No, it wasn`t . Mainly at celebrations. I suppose 3 of us who disagree were raised in cities.

News / Famous Poles die - your memories [112]

This latest death has really saddened me. At 80, Zbigniew Lew-Starowicz died. He was a legendary sexologist, psychiatrist and psychotherapist, academic teacher, professor of medical sciences. Long-time chairman of the Polish Sexological Society. He was the author and co-author of several hundred publications in the field of sexology and psychiatry and several thousand popular science articles.

I read a lot of his books. Whenever they appeared in bookshops, they were immediately sold out. I still have a few in my library, even now I can see Sex in the Cultures of the World on the shelf over my head.

Thanks to education I found in his publications I have never had any problems with physical love and my partners, either. I can say I owe him a lot.

Goodbye, dear Mr Professor. I presume you will successfully teach angels in Heaven how to have satisfactory sex life.

'Fit as a fiddle'

Yes, I know fit is normally used but I changed it deliberately into sound coz I needed to say sth connected with mental health in my reply to Iron. And I wanted to keep that fiddle coz I once attended violin class in a music school.

Do you mean what I know??? :):):)

Should I do more mistakes to incite you to partitake in the forum more oftener??? hahahaha buhahahaha

No, don`t give up so easily! When in the Polish forum, do as a Pole/Poless does!

You are already so close.

Let`s recapitulate: Red as communist and count as a nobility title. What is such a person characterised by? Recall what the typical characteristics of counts are and contrast it to red ones!

Red count is still pending while another one looms on the horizon:

Onto the other leg/stem. Also known as for the other foot.

But a smoking owner can sit with an animal in its sty...... Who can guarantee he/she didn`t???????????

It isn`t a problem. I am immune to salmonella and even if not, diarrhoea is a much lighter disorder than cancer........

try the lung pierogi.

I`d better not. What if the owner of the animal was a smoker?? Passive smoking also make your lungs prone to cancer. I don`t want to get such a disorder coz it is unnice.

you have a huge problem with yourself

Yes, but it is long gone now. I had had a huge problem with myself in early 2000s. But in 2008 I joined this forum and met you which allowed me to get rid of all my disorders. I am as sound as a fiddle now.
It seems that my problems have miraculously passed onto you. hahahaha
