Law / The right to own guns: would you support such legislation in Poland? [2237]

you seems to fail to grasp the idea of gun ownership for citizens.

I'm not against gun ownership for citizens, if there is a need for ownership then gun licenses should be issued people working in the country need guns. In the city hobbyists can shoot as many targets and clay pigeons as they want. In Europe there is not really any problem people who need guns get them, hunters get them as do target shooters. There are regulations on how guns should be stored and carried. There are additional regulations on the type of guns people should have access to Europeans are happy with this.

I live in a place where there was a tyrannical government that's why I keep hammering on that point.
The lack of answers of how to fight a tyrannical government is very telling these gun nut people have no idea what they are talking about.

When fighting a tyrannical gov decisions will have to be made to shoot some poor fellow in the back of the head or decide that he is still a target when off duty taking the kids to the cinema and so on.

Those decisions are sick and I want nothing to do with them. On the other hand defending your home and area is a very different question. I remember helping family find accommodation after their home was burnt and I commend the few people who were able to shoot back. At the time and for many years I wanted more guns however I know that more guns only means more death this is fact.

The fantasy talk of the gun crowd really annoys me its just pub talk they have exactly zero idea what they are talking about, their ignorance is staggering and extremely dangerous. They may live in a cowboy movie but the rest of us live in the real world.

I'll ask you again. What is your question? Do you actually have one?

Zim as pointed out to you several times on this thread you stated that you want to fight tyranny I asked how and when yet you pretend there is no question that is dishonest.

Bringing a lot of quotes from a bunch of morally dubious slave owners does not an answer make. Nor does accusing any one who would like to see guns safely locked away of being either a communist or fascist make a good or logical argument. The point is that gun nuts suggest that fighting tyranny is a major reason that they should not be forced to keep their guns locked away, they are very vocal about this. They are vocal about Stalin and Hitler (rather quiet about Ho Chi Min mind) etc yet the same people are mighty quiet when asked how they would actually fight tyranny.

There are so many holes in the gun nut crowd's arguments that they cannot answer any pertinent questions, that's why they mouth hollow slogans.

couldn't find your question; what is it?

Now Zim you know that is dishonest. I know you cannot answer the question in the same way as a bar room braggard cannot live up to his own image.

They didn't think that in 1776

The slave owners revolt?

I would take the writings of people more seriously if they were not hypocritical to the core.
The argument over taxation is equally hypocritical, these people when not living off government largesse were free loading, paying less taxes than others. It really was a case of do as I say not as I do.

That means the Founding Fathers believed that the militia should be the most formidable military in the United States, far more powerful than the government.

Should there be only one militia in the US, what happens if there is more than one?
Who then decides which interpretation of the constitution is correct?
Will there be a PPV fight to the death over constitutional law?

Zim I asked a straight question, yet again you and the gun crowd in general cannot answer.

"Fighting tyranny" is often trotted out as a reason for these hobbyists and their corporate sponsors to continue pumping weapons into society. I don't think it's unreasonable to ask for answers yet this simple point is never addressed as can be seen in this very thread.

As there is zero chance of any government allowing its self to be overthrown it is a hollow boast.

edit: Barney notes: "the gun crowd cannot answer any questions..."
You wouldn't understand the answer if it sat on your lap and called you 'honey' :)

The gun crowd keep saying that but never attempt to answer any questions. It's odd that such a vocal and apparently well reasoned lobby cannot answer any questions when asked, for example

No; I'd rather fight a tyrannical government with modern weapons.

Would you care to explain how you would go about doing that?

Give me a hypothetical situation and I'll gladly explain.....

Its your boast that you would fight surely you know when and how you would do this fighting or is it as I say a Hollow slogan with no grounding in reality?

They can't read very well. It happens

They in this instance being me an individual.

You are complaining about comprehension on a thread where you want to manipulate stats? You suggested that a re writing of crime stats could provide evidence to support your view point? Can you not see how ridiculous that is because its pretty damm ridiculous?

Surely Re writing crime stats to remove all gun crime would produce a better result for your point of view?

I understand the stats though I don't feel any need to manipulate them. You accuse me of having comprehension problems I'll add that to the bottom feeder label..........

Edit

Unfortunately, many are going to keep blowing smoke because they realize they have nothing of substance to comment.

You keep saying the same thing but refuse to explain the bar talk you indulge in. Perhaps you also believe in a secret orgainsation that will counter government opression.

My suspicion is that when you remove the firearms statistics involving youth gangs along with about 8 or 10 cities which are recognized as out-of-control, it's fair to acknowledge that it is at least as, if not more, dangerous than the US.

What a ridiculous statement
If they removed all the US gun death stats it would turn out that the US has no recorded gun deaths making it safer than Europe.

Most violent crime anywhere happens in cities that is a fact of life.

History / Battle of Vienna - history movie about Poland / Commemoration [36]

I know someone who got one to Eton, for instance.

The battle of Vienna was won on the playing fields of Eton:)

Battle of Vienna (where Jan III Sobieski saved Europe) commemoration hijacked

The annual commemoration of the 1683 Battle of Vienna - where Jan III Sobieski saved Europe from a Muslim invasion - was this year hijacked by the smolenkist bigotists.

Why they cannot stay on Krakowskie PrzedmieĊ›cie? Will soon every Polish commemoration around the globe be polluted by their weird antics?
opole.gazeta.pl/opole/1,35086,12458197,Polski_bogoojczyzniany_skansen_pod_Wiedniem.html

It says they were cranks connected to Gazeta Polska. The bit about a little morning exorcism while drinking coffee or shaving is surreal.

Why is it surreal??
I f you do not believe in God, Salvation of Jesus Christ then that is okay for you to say,
However for Catholics and Christians overall exoricisms are a reality...
Tell me a Christian woukd believe that Jesus Christ, God and a man in one would die on The Cross and then come back from the Dead yet not belive the Exorcisms,,,

You know there's a saying that I know:
"The Greatest Victory of the Satan was to fool people that he doesn't exist"

I did my gymnasium and lyceum studies under the very stern eye of Jesuit priests. I never heard these nonsense there.
That said and done, why these people cannot stay in their namiot?

Handing out photostats encouraging people to do a little morning exorcism while shaving is far from normal. Those loons were also getting all het up about a national sin of allowing communion in the hand and women working for the church. Bizarre.

History / Churchill and Poland [120]

The War was nearly over.

And what is your point?

Churchill said in cabinet

'Stalin I'm sure means well to the world and Poland. Stalin has offered the Polish people a free and more broadly based government to bring about an election;

Churchill knew full well this was not the case because he added

I cannot conceive any government has the right to be treated like that.

Its clear that Churchill sold Poland out but as I said earlier there is not much he could have done.

Both quotes from "Masters and Commanders" by Andrew Roberts as reported.

The quotes are from Burgis a note taker at churchill's meetings who prepared cabinet papers his notes are in the national archives.

Edit

I was comparing him to Stalin, who these people seem to worship.

The only people who seem to like stalin are far left nuts in what was LM and North Koreans.

The Empire was costing more money to run, than it was making in money, it wasn't even paying for it self,

Yeah I said that

mentally, most people had already given up Empire

Nonsense...Empire day, Empire Games, colonial wars some stuff still going through the British courts.

Man you dont really know what you are talking about and we have only scratched the surface.

I think one was a sentimental attitude

Nothing sentimental about Churchill, the man always adopted the most extreme populist position possible.

The Empire had been running at a loss for about 25 years by the mid 40s The British needed to realign their economy but blamed Ghandi for the unrest in India and subsequent economic woes.

There is nothing sentimental about denying freedom to a people.

History / Churchill and Poland [120]

It was fought in every home which has a son, husband, brother or father conscripted into the army and in every air raid shelter during the blitz.

I hoped that one could see I wasnt trying to have a bash at Britain or the things the British went through.

It is true that the war was fought in the Soviet Union and neighbouring countries the figures for Leningrad alone dwarf all the allied numbers. It’s also true that the second front was deliberately delayed but the Soviets won inspite of this. The appeasement of Stalin was the only thing that Churchill could do to preserve what was left of the Empire that appeasement involved selling Poland out.

What would like Britain to hav done, re: the WWII?

Apart from hide on their island till the Russians won the war for them*

You mean Dunkirk, in English

No I meant badly spelled French:)

*Now that is a pop at the Brits

What appeasement? What appeasement? What appeasement?

The British Government headed by Churchill knew very well the nature of Stalin, Churchill had made a career partly from demonising any progressive thought. Uncensored Cabinet papers reveal that Churchill together with Roosevelt had indeed "sold" Poland accusations of naivety wont stick. Churchill was more concerned with Ghandi and preventing Indian freedom than of confronting Stalin.

The British narrative of the 2nd war is BEF, dunkirque, BOB, fall of Singapore, the Chindits, el Alaimain, d day, market garden, victory, oh and some stuff with U Boats.

One wouldn’t want to diminish these events or the people who participated in them however the war was largely fought somewhere else and Churchill was desperate to have either the US or the USSR on his side.

Life / Do young Polish people believe in their religion and God? [155]

I can't understand why foreigners want to see Poland as fundamentalistic country

It is to do with the fear of Catholicism, anti Catholic fear and loathing is deeply ingrained in many. As I've said before they don't see people they see Catholic people.

Edit

Poland may be secular - but to imagine it's secular in the same way as England may be misleading?

England is not the same as Poland or any other country. There is not an English man inside Polish people trying to get out.

so when? That is the big question.

Indeed it is.
Without conception there is no life, I dont think that is wrong.

I think that when the fetus is recognized as life then abortion should not be permitted..

Why not?

no, it's the body inside of her body, we're talking about here.

A woman has the right to decide what she does with her body especially the right to control her fertility.

Smurf I'm not anti abortion just anti nonsense.

Pundone I too am against abortion as first line contraception but it is the woman’s body we are talking about here. If she wants to kill the child it’s her choice.

Why do many have no problem defending war or military action which always results in death but use weasel words to describe the thing growing inside a pregnant woman as anything other than a life?

News / Abortion still under control in Poland [2986]

I believe the woman has the right to end the life within her it’s her body.

The size of the child or baby etc is usually only a factor when a condition is discovered I believe this would be murder as the woman almost always made the decision to keep the child earlier. I am opposed to eugenics in practice and philosophy.

Where late term pregnancies are ended its usually to save the woman’s life and no right thinking person could be opposed to that or to kill a baby for aesthetic reasons. The rest usually have terrible back stories attached and that is why I said at the start of this thread that there are no concrete rules here.

Because they ended two lives, a pregnant woman however has the right to end the life inside her preferably with help.
