History / The reasons of Polish pride? [112]

Do majority of Germans still hate Slavic people

Please!
Don't use that failed old argument to rope in Poles with Slavic people!
Poles know they are Slavs, but history shows us that are supposed brotherhood of Slavs are not our friends....get over it!

Travel / Why do you visit Poland? [223]

other people im Europa know Poland only from TV or newspapers and if you know they produce only negative news about Poland

I don't know what your experience of life is outside of Poland but I feel strongly that you have misjudged people's perceptions..
If anything, Poles are regarded in higher esteem for being brave enough to stand up against the mouth that feeds them.....Brussels.....

It is a pity that Poland had become the laughing stock of Europe by the present government

What a ridiculous comment.
Nobody is laughing at Poland, all you will get is a few nervous laughs from the EU fanatics and globalists.

Merged:

Visiting Poland/Leaving Poland.

I thought that this might be an interesting thread for people to share experiences from both sides.
Those of us who don't live in Poland to share our experience's of going to Poland and also for Polish residents to share their experiences of visiting other countries.

I have a somewhat lengthy intro.
My Mums parents moved to France from Poland between the two world wars.
So I have a lot of family in France and have visited that country every two or three years since I was a toddler.
My earliest memories of France was of a very different country from England, fascinating, different but quite backward and primitive,
I am talking about the early to mid sixties now.
In 1966, when I was 9 years old, we went to Spain.
The Fascists were still in power then and as a nine year old I hardly noticed.
Except for the policemen with funny hats and batons patrolling the beach to control nut salesmen and topless bathers....
Then in 1968, aged eleven, I went on a school cruise to Norway and The Netherlands and discovered two countries that in many ways were closer to the England that I knew.

After many years,in 1969 my dad at last got a British passport, before that he only had a travel document issued by the British Government, that was only valid in a few countries and not in Poland.....

So now we were going to Poland...... it was 1969, I was 12 years old, but fairly well travelled.......despite the warm reception we had from family in Poland. The shock was immense...... backward France and Fascist Spain just did not compare.......

After that, we visited every three years or so and I have witnessed the huge changes that Poland has experienced and endured.
I have not been to Poland for three years now, but it is no longer the same country I first visited as a child in 1969.

I am proud of Poles and of Poland for how they have changed the country since 1989.
And would be curious about other people's perceptions of Poland and also of Polish perceptions of other countries they have visited or lived in.

so I stopped drinking

You made the right move.
It is not a question of intelligence or stupidity though, more one of susceptibility.
I can take spirits or leave them, others find it hard to stop drinking.

I opened up an old bottle of Cognac last night and had a few sips along with a couple of Stella Artois:)

To me, that is sensible drinking.
You have to be careful with alcohol, especially spirits.
I knew a few Polish alcoholics as I am sure you all have.
It never ends well.

Let us know how you feel after ten.

Rich,I only ever do one and then months or even years can pass before another!
I stick to beer and wine for most of the year.
I still have some Jack Daniels that is over a year old!
This bottle of wodka will still be here for the next New Year!

History / The reasons of Polish pride? [112]

Belonging to the Slavic civilization

This is your biggest mistake and shows your ignorance of how Polish people think.
We are Slavs and most of us respect that history.
But Russians are Slavs too and they have done so much harm and destroyed any idea of a Slav union.
There is no Slavic unity and never will be until Russians change their ways.
Serbs will never gain any respect until they stop licking Russian arses.....

stop drinking

My daughter bought me a bottle of Zubrowka for Christmas..... I haven't tried it in years and had forgotten how.smooth it.was..... I am not a great fan of wodka or spirits in general but hey, don't ask me to stop drinking when I still have a nearly full bottle in my freezer!

@Crow

Although I do have some sympathy to your anti German posts, I have to agree with Joker,
In the end, us civilised people will always back the Germans well ahead of the barbaric, murderous Serbs.......

Poland MUST have sustainable deal with Russia

Poland does.not.need.any deal with Russia.
That is pure idiocy of the Serbian kind.
Poland needs respect from.the West and especially the EU.
Russia is irrelevant.

t's similiar with any democratic parliament

No it is not.
It is similar.to "democratic" parliament of Germany and The EU, but alien to most.of the rest of the world.
Your idea of democracy is not democracy at all.

I have never understood why those who do not believe in Jesus celebrate His birthday

You show your ignorance yet again!!!!!
My God, you are one very dumb SOAB!

Everyone believes in Jesus....the evidence of his existence is clear.
It is just that many of us do not believe that he was the son of God.

Also, how would you feel if it was proved that he was black?

bring our troops and equipment home

Good idea, they are not needed or welcomed.

Let the E.U. deal with it.

You really are very ignorant..... the EU don't have an army....
Britain and France will have to deal with it as they are the only military powers in Europe.

...you fear germanisation but want us to become a military big boy again

Because Germans will never use it in a bad way ever again!

Remember? As we met first back then I posted german jokes to convince you we Germans really have at least a bit of humour!

My memory is obviously not as good as yours.
Remind me of German humour.

you often post here as a proud Brit

Do I?
I don't mean to come acros that way.
As I have said, besides being born here, culturally, I am not British.
But I don't think that Brits should be ashamed of their history.

Your problem are the Germans only

No.
The French too, but they don't have the power or strength of the Germans.
Yes, I still see Germany as a threat.
Not in warlike terms.....I don't think you will, as a nation, ever repeat your mistakes.
But politically and economically, of course you are a threat!
However, militarily, you need to get over your guilt.
WW2 was a long time ago.
You need to up your military big time.
And we all know you can do that.

We agree that the EU will die eventually.
I just don't think that Europe will ever be able to stomach the idea of trying that failed experiment again.

@Bratwurst Boy

See, I debate with you sensibly and without insults, because I respect you.

@Bratwurst Boy

Mate, I sincerely hope that our disagreement on here has not affected your judgement.
I see you as a regular guy and I agree with most of your posts.
But I vehemently disagree with you on The EU.

stop observing Germany through your polish WWII eyes

Guilty as charged!
Why should I?
What has really changed in the German psyche?
Berlin still wants to control Europe.
Germany is by far the most powerful economy in Europe, but too many Germans think that gives them the right to tell other European nations how to behave.....WRONG!

If Germans push East Europeans too hard there will be a breaking point.

Unification = bigger, stronger, more powerful

That does not work with me.
Bigger, more bloated, less controllable and weaker.....
You talk about empires and to me The Eu is a German empire.
But all these empires failed in the end!
British, Roman, Germanic, Greek, Turkish, Russian,French, Spanish, Portuguese. ..... all gone.....
How long before The Eu collapses?
A question of time.
But collapse it will.

When all start speaking German as Lingua Franca of the EU

That will never happen.
As much as the French rise against it, the Lingua Franca is already established and embedded... And it is English.

PS: You had an Empire and lost it....has history now proven too that you are a loser?

Firstly, I am only British born and my ancestral history is exclusively Polish.
Having said that, I don't think the Brits regard themselves as losers because they still retain huge advantages from friends gained in their former empire, the greatest and largest the world has ever seen, I might add.

Germans tried to emulate the Brits and failed, so don't have those benefits.
