Real Estate / House prices in Poland to drop more or rise again? [228]

Ireland is far too cold for a tent but I know a lot of people up to their eyeballs in negative equity who would glad-fully risk a winter in a tent.

You must hang around with those sorts of people then. As property in Ireland, at least in the north is selling cheap. Time now is to buy in Ireland.

Life / Smoking vs. Grilling on Balconies / High Rises in Poland [66]

But I dunno if you're talking about those posh expensive apartament buildings or - post-soviet good - old polish panel blocks?

I guess both types, but you're right, its always better to ask the neighbours, they might even join ya! :)

I agree, I would hate to be the person living just upstairs with all the smoke flying in. I used to have one on the balcony but I was at the top of the block. No one would try to ban smoking on the balcony though, its just daft.

News / Polish President Lech Kaczynski and gov officials die in a plane crash in Russia [686]

What he was attempting was very very risky...and sadly he did not get away with it....

An RAF mate I was with today was saying that most pilots would not attempt the landing, heavy fog and high tree lines. I reckon he would have been ordered to land the plane. Lets wait till the black box info comes out.

Travel / Poland wildlife and similar wild life where you live. [244]

The looking or the imbibing?

Both, need to think of decent excuse to start again, going to the Scottish Highlands on Friday and on Saturday going to a barn dance. Maybe......just maybe....

Food / Bratwurst in Kraków? [15]

Just buy the white sausages. Or even better cover them in ketchup and lashings of curry powder!!! Currywursts!

Language / Polish was chosen the HARDEST LANGUAGE in the world to learn... :D [1558]

Can't really complain about American English, I've seen some load of crap being written here in Glasgow.
It's true that American English is a truer version of pure English, I.E it hasn't evolved much over the past 100 years. British English evolves a lot more, probably in a few hundred years the English we use now will be foreign to most "English" speakers of the future. Panglish is spoken more over the world than any other version.

Genealogy / What are common Polish character traits? [417]

K, what about unashamedly nosey/curious? Neighbours always in each others' business.
