How can you be VERY polish then if in same sentence you say you THINK you may have Ukrainian blood in you as well kind of hypocritical of yourself there .. :S .. !
did i say there was a problem NO! i merely pointed out that you are contradicting yourself in your own sentences.
if you have any percentage whether it be 5% or what that doesn't make you 100% POLISH now does it sorry but the maths speak for itself 5% Ukrainian from 100% leaves 95% therefore you aren't VERY!
Ola, as long as your 5 % is not connected with those 'Ukrainians' who committed the unspeakable atrocities in the Eastern Borderlands in the 40s, then there's no problem.
Hm, and maybe you're more Ukrainian than the 5 %? Some of your postings don't seem to sound very Polish... they sound kind of savage.
:)
My family on my father's side were converts from Judaism in the 18th century. They were knighted by His Majesty King of Poland, and suffix 'ski' was added to their surname.
Mom's family - petty nobility from the Eastern Borderlands. Part of this family, including numerous babies, was savagely murdered by the Ukrainians during WWII.

so not 100% Polish either but 50 % Jewish. You are such a fake. Your family was knighted - can you prove it??? Who do you identify with if you are only 50% Polish(or maybe Ukrainian - he, he). Are you sitting on a fence???
What a joke!!!!!!!!
I am 1/8 Polish on my mother's side. Is that good enough?
depends for whom/ Some people like numbers and % too much as if that proves anything. We are who we are and there is no way to change it. I have always been OK with my roots, because I accept reality and I don't pretend to be somebody I am not.
Miranda blurts out: 'so not 100% Polish either but 50 % Jewish. You are such a fake.'
- Why am I not 100 % Polish, according to you? Why would I be '50 % Jewish'? Explain.
re:' Your family was knighted - can you prove it???'
- I can if need be. We have some ancient papers, and also my ancestor is of a certain significance in Polish history.
re: 'Who do you indentify with if you are only 50% Polish(or maybe Ukrainian - he, he)'?
- Why would I be 'only 50 % Polish'? Explain. Why would I be Ukrainian, and what would be so funny about it? Elucidate, please.
Re: 'Are you sitting on a fence???' What has made you ask this question? Have I given any grounds? What grounds?
re: 'What a joke!!!!!!!!' What's so funny, and why? :) PS. By the way, to me a real Polish, English, etc. person is one who puts the good of his own country and people above the good of other countries and peoples. At present, the good of any European country and nation includes the good of Europe as a whole.
Do you put the good of Poland and Europe above the good of any other country and continent, miranda? ;)
PS. , to miranda. Forgot to ask: and why would I be 'a fake'? Please, explain. :)
That's absolutely true. Lots of people feel "eaten up" by the globalisation and decided to rediscover theirselves & their "roots" Just look at the rise in popularity of "nationalistic" parties in Europe in the last decade or so.
exterminated only from this conversation. poles only ;)
pole-girl? May 6, 07, 11:12 .
am I? aprox 40% polish, 15% Ukrainian, and the other 45% is a mix of French, English, Scottish and Irish.
ps. does anyone know if the surname Bojko is polish or Ukrainian?
By the way, to me a real Polish, English, etc. person is one who puts the good of his own country and people above the good of other countries and peoples. At present, the good of any European country and nation includes the good of Europe as a whole.
totally agree, but it's still neat to see how much "Polish blood" people have
1. mom's father. my grandfather's family were Silesian and moved from Silesia into Central Poland after the 3rd Silesian Uprising of 1921 . my great-grandfather and other family members took part in the 3rd Silesian uprising. Then they built an Iron Works Mill in Opoczno before WWII. However only my grandfather survived WWII , the rest of the family was shot by the Gestapo.
2. on her mother's side the family is Polish and comes from landowners and villagers around the Opoczno area.
my dad's side 1. his father's (my grandfather) family was Polish or Polonized landowners settling in Poland (Opoczno area) and the Kiev area of Ukraine after they were expelled from Lithuania in the 18th-19th Century.
2. His mother's side comes from Tczew area and are mostly Kashubian.
3. I also believe someone in my Dad's family was Jewish. (Great Grandmother?)
missmuffin even if you were 5% Polish, what matters most of all is the Connection and Love you feel for Polish People,Language,Culture and the Country :-)
On my mother's side they're from Podlasie and Wolyn, the whole of my maternal grandfather's side consists of lesser nobility, and also some on my mat. grandmother's.
On my father's side I'm primarily Danish, but mixed with German and South Swedish blood. The last part is because I'm descending from some European royal houses and higher nobility, but that's very far back in time, during the Middle Ages.
My maternal grandmother's family suffered all from the cruelty of the damn UPA in Wolyn. Some were bestially murdered, but my grandmother's parents and all of their children managed to get away, even though it was close sometimes.
I know at least about one story, that my greatgrandfather and his children ran and hided in the nearby woods, when the UPA came savaging their village.
But my greatgrandmother was struck by a condition of shock, so she just stood there in the kitchen and couldn't move. Luckily the Ukrainians just passed and avoided going into my family's home, but it was damn close..
Ukrainians should stay out of my sight and I've very little, if anything, good to say about Ruthenians..
And yes, I have been doing genealogy for several years, so I am pretty much sure about the information I mentioned in the beginning.
