Oh la la, suddenly you become so strict on the language while you weren`t before about dishes being meals etc . Amasing!!! ):):)
All in all, you aren`t a too credible source coz you change opinions and attitudes too often, as the wind blows.

Oh la la, suddenly you become so strict on the language while you weren`t before about dishes being meals etc

Because you made a mistake whereas the course materials didn't.

lol, and this troll half wit privately tutors students english!.jesus christ!

Sadly that doesn't surprise me.

a mistake

Bs. I didn`t say pancakes meaning several on the plate, I meant the word or notion but was too lazy to put it in inverted commas or italics. The fact you make such hell about it only proves our opinion on you as an incredulous interlocutor. Ha!!!

jesus christ!

Go back to your she-kanga and she will scream the same!!! hahaha

pretends to be an aristocrat LOL!

Darling, I used oh la la when you were still sucking your mum`s milk. Ha!!!

Ale ubaw! :):):)
Trzech na jednego to banda Rudego!!! hahaha

But I can take a few more if necessary. Ha!!!! Is there no one else to join those mental losers????

Sadly

Darling, it is sad, indeed. Why? You shouldn`t go into such dirty alliances with my enemies coz a friend of my enemy becomes one, too. If you continue this agenda, I will pay you with the same coin in your exchanges with others.
I already reproached you before, now is the second and last time.
You have been warned. Ha!!!! :):):)

12 years old?

Yes, I am, but fortunately I act like 15. Unfortunately, I look much much older. Why??? Do you want to ask me out??? Forget it.

Your description of context based language is probably the best I've heard

Thank you kindly.

Putting it in those terms is a recent idea of mine which I want to pursue more....

I remember a class where I was trying to get Polish students to develop a sense of language.... preferences. They were supposed to find short texts in Polish that they thought were well written or badly written and figure out what they liked or disliked.... it was a failure as only one student could get past "I don't think that sentence is correct"...

If I'd had a _lot_ more time I might have made progress but there were too many other things to cover.....

Did you study Applied Linguistics?

Short version... not in the Polish sense of 'study' (be enrolled in a degree granting program focused on that subject) but in the American sense... yes. I've had classes in applied linguistics, language policy, bilingual education etc and also have some background in examining comparative culture (in the socio-anthropological sense) and translation (my approach is always context sensitive, not rule based).

What is this Polish dish which reminds of dishes from other English speaking countries, originally English or adopted, and which dish from those countries do I mean exactly?

  • Ha!

which reminds of dishes from other English speaking countries

reminds who? reminds can't be used intransivetively in English

and Poland is not an English speaking country

that said, it looks like tomato soup (the first recipe for which is from the US).

dishes from other English speaking countries,

Nobody guessed so let me enlighten you that the dish is Polish goulash which resembles Irish stew.

I wanted to write aka boef Strogonov but recalled that boeuf is made of beef while that goulash was pork. See for yourself:

?? Goulash is a Hungarian dish traditionally made with beef, not pork. Irish stew has a thicker consistency than the goulash in your pics. Yours looks more like a soup.

His pic looks like soup to me too.Certainly not a Goulash or stew.
Although it has to be said that sometimes Hungarians serve their Goulash as a soup.

Hungarian dish

Where did I mention Hungarian???? I said Polish. :):)

Yours looks

Exactly. Looks. Coz it was thick underneath! Ha! That`s the special way of serving the dish - hide its treasures under the surface and then slowly reveal them with your spoon. The Irish stew is vulgar coz it shows the ingredients instantly and there is no secret at all.
Ha! I got you.

a soup.

And what do you eat Irish stew with??? A fork or a spoon???
Ha!!!! I got you again.
hahahaha buhahaha
BS. Milo and johhny, stop obsessing about soups. It is very infantile. Ha!!!!

Irish stew.

Irish stew is what the French call a blanquette. Try Lancashire hotpot if you can get the lamb or maybe a nice pan of Scouse which is very simple and cheap, and which you can do nicely with minced pork.

His pic looks like soup to me too.

Same. Though even the Zupa Gulaszowa that you get in the south west is vhunkier and thicker.

Polish goulash

After I fist came to PL, my best friend and his brother came to visit. They have Polish roots. We went out and had gulasz. They described it as "rank".

Hungarian goulash (gulyás) is an unthickened soup and not necessarily very spicy. The broth is usually clearer than pawian's picture.

What people in other countries call goulash is closer to Hungarian pörkölt (a thick stew, more like a sauce, usually served over pasta).

We went out and had gulasz.

This was long ago so goulash could be bad just like goulash communism was.
