'Twist'?

This is a thread about mustard.

And yes, the stuff in P9lish shops is bland and full of additives.

Fresh ground horseradish and ketchup mixed together makes the best (the only) cocktail sauce for shrimp

Add some lemon juice and the best shrimp sauce in the world.

That sounds vile. The sauce is usually made rather differently.

Anything I post is vile to you jon, we are use to that fact.
So you tell us how your is made so differently.

stuff

Yes, stuffed with your bland lies. Yuk!!! hahahaha
It has just occured to me - if you are ready to lie so obsessively in a simple mustard thread, what are you up to in more serious ones???

made so differently

Made the usual way. Mayonnaise (ready made will do at a pinch), a little passata or a tiny tiny bit of tomato puree, either a tiny pinch of cayenne pepper or a dash of Tabasco, a (very) little Worcester Sauce.

Pretty well standard.

stuffed

How odd. Perhaps spending your day with a bunch of ten year olds and your evenings with glassware and ethanol are taking its toll.

It is rather bland compared to the real thing.

I forgot; a few drops of lemon juice too.

Pretty well standard.

I will give it a try jon.
Here is my Pol/Am families "technical" recipe for a tangy shrimp 🍤 sauce since I was speaking in "general" again in post #63.

1 cup of ketchup
2 tablespoons of horseradish
juice from a half of lemon
2 teaspoons of Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon of mustard
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/4 teaspoon of pepper
4 dashes of Tabasco
Mix thoroughly

Enjoy....... another of the Reb's worlds famous recipes.

Shall we have a cook off here to see who's recipe the members like the best, with a shrimp cocktail ?
Game on. Hoot !

I'd leave the salt out if you're using ketchup and probably the pepper if there's Tabasco in.

Plus horseradish and mustard together seems like overkill. I'd just use the horseradish.

Don't knock it until you tried it, jon.

Another of my favorites is Dijon Mustard Is the tangy Ingredient you need to try In a Grilled Cheese sandwich.
Instead of buttering your bread on the outside to grill it with butter, use mayonnaise instead.

Another of the Reb's world-famous recipes. 🤠

Try it with olive oil. Works nicely.

Thanks jon, it sounds much healthier for us older adults with plugged arteries already.

I like butter but if it's melted, olive oil is better anyway.

That or dripping.

How about Dijon mustard?

Not keen on that either Milo. Just English mustard for me. I remember trying an awful tasting mustard labelled 'French' that came in a glass jar as a child and I haven't actually tried Polish mustard...yet.

awful tasting mustard labelled 'French'

The dark one? That only exists in the UK as far as I know. Polish ones are a bit similar. Sort of between that and Dijon.

That's the one. It was horrible!

You mean mustard produced in Poland. There are many kinds - mild, medium or hot.

mild, medium or hot.

Those terms are subjective. What's considered hot in PL is barely even medium in some other places.

I remember seeing a packet of kotlety sojowe mix which on the back of the packets had the phrase "if you want to make it spicy, add a tomato".

add a tomato

We don`t believe one word of what you are saying coz you have a long history of lying about "Ukrainska" mustard produced in Poland. You are an obsessive liar and we are still waiting for the pic. hahahaha

To avoid confusion and potential boycott, the Polish producer we were talking about changed the name from Russian into Extra Hot mustard. Can you imagine I still see Russian style mustard in shops?

There is one Russian style mustard which hasn`t changed its name: Sarepska - comes from Sarepto in southern western Russia.
However, it wasn`t invented by Russians. Its producers were protestant Saxon settles who emigrated to Russia. They used the local variety of mustard seeds and made their product very hot.

Another traditional mustard made here is Kremska - it comes from Krems in Austria. Mild and sweet though not as sweet as honey mustard.

Honey mustard chicken wings are the best.

Wings are waste in Europe, what counts in chickens are breasts and legs.

@Alien
You are missing the best and most sought after part of the chicken my friend.
Wings cost more than breasts do in the U.S.A. at the market.
Have you ever heard of the restaurant chain, "Buffalo Wild Wings" ?
buffalowildwings.com/menu/
Wings are more popular in the U.S. restaurant's than a breast by far.
They even have boneless wings.
Legs or what we call the 'drums' are the cheapest and they can't give the away.
If they are a waste there in Germany you should start a new fad of hotwings like the U.S. for football games.
I will take 5% for telling you how to get rich quick.
ie: the sauces that go with them: BBQ, honey mustard, blue cheese, ranch, honey, teriyaki, regular crispy........

The best mustard in the world is Maille Dijon.
I add just a dab of horseradish for my personal taste.

Wings are waste

I like wings and all bony pieces with scraps of meat which I need to meticulously scratch out.

PS.
I am slowly running out of mustard types available in Poland. I just googled graphics for mustard and encountered a type I have never seen or heard of. Jerusalem mustard - with garlic and onion!!
Poloniusz, where can I buy it??? Amasing!!!!
