Life / Cigarette Smoking in Poland [146]

I like smoking.
I die when I die, I'm not afraid of death, it's a natural occurrence of life=).
For me, it's relaxing, gives me something to look forward to in the day, love the feeling of having one after meals...stressful moments....with alcohol....

It's enjoyable

joo who

Maybe if you smoked you wouldn't be so uptight.

History / Poland Betrayed in WW2 [243]

poles always have been a bunch of wind up merchants due a good kicking - were then and are now - and then they wonder why they keep getting dumped on

They came back after 123 years of being non-existent, I think the Polish are very patriotic and did what they could to survive.

Love / BLACK GUYS POLISH WOMEN [809]

Get over it....How many black people does a Polish person encounter in their life time? Not a whole hell of a lot, Poland is mostly white people and how can they become educated about racial tolerance if they have no experience with another race? It's really no surprise, black people are a minority in Central/Eastern Europe.

Language / Genitive case ("nie ma nic" vs "nie ma niczego") [71]

Grammatically correct is nie ma niczego as niczego is the genitive case of nic. But nie ma nic is used more in everyday language

Okay that's a relief, I wanted to make sure I wasn't creating my own grammar rules=P i noticed 'nie ma nic' is used a lot more often though than 'niczego'

Language / The use of buziaki [6]

My cousin always says 'buziaki i uściski' at the end of her emails, 'hugs and kisses'=)

Language / Common mistakes made by foreigners in Polish [90]

Differences between ś and sz, or ć and cz are hard for foreigners to grasp I think. Also when ę is at the end of the word, I don't think most foreigners will add the nasal sound.

Life / Cigarette Smoking in Poland [146]

I was wondering what the smoking laws were like?

You can smoke in malls, bars, clubs etc. Buying cigarettes/alcohol should be no problem for you, most bars/clubs don't check i.d.

Language / Seeking a basic intro to the Polish Language [17]

I think if you're looking to learn Polish fast then those other languages might interfere with your Polish....I would concentrate on Polish for a while and when you feel comfortable with imperfective/perfective verbs, declension, have some vocabulary then you should continue with your other languages

UK, Ireland / Polish kids in UK education system [57]

Poland's education system is a lot more intense and less slack than in North America, i'm not sure about the UK though.
