Polish kids in UK education system

Hi!
I'm starting research into Polish kids entering the UK education system. Do any of you have kids now in the UK primary school. How are they managing? Are there enough resources to help them, e.g. learning English?

Thanks in advance.

Polish kids are said to be smarter overall than their British peers. Not sure about their English though since they most likely speak Polish at home and watch Polish TV/games.

Perhaps the language barrier may actually prove an advantage. The fact the kids have to learn another language other than their own immedately forces the child to pay more attention if they want to understand what is being taught. Secondly perhaps like the Indian and the jewish communities there is a greater value placed upon gaining a good education. These reasons might explain why Polish kids seem smarter. The children of economic migrants learn from an earlier ag the need for hard work. Whilst native English kids take it as a given that they will find a decent job, because they are English. However, this being the global market place this is no longer the case

Education is generally better in Jewish schools - classes are smaller, private funding is always a bonus and teachers are generally more strict - so you cant really compare them with the 'local comp'!

I know one or two Polish school children and in fact they are very lazy. They waited as long as possible to start school in the first place and have made no attempt at all to learn the language.

Why would they need the language? After all, according to your theory, all Poles are good at is riveting and welding things together.

I hope someone some day welds your jaws together once and for good.

I know of quite a lot of dumb English school children but even so, I can not think of any English school kids dumb enough to live in Poland.

was that another example of what Poles were like 5 thousand years ago, or did you just make it up? as far as im concerned kids dont have anything to say about when they start school, their parents send them to school. maybe their parents arrived in UK when they were in the 3rd year in a Polish school, and since they dont speak the language they had to start from the 1st year in UK? ever thought about that? or was it just too comfortable not to?

No. Dude, you need profe

For a start, you are not American, you are Polish. Your bad grammar gives you away. I am certainly not your 'dude', you do not even know what the word means. If you continue to be rude and personal you may get another ban. Teraz koniec.

Thta's surely got to be more applicable to you BECAUSE you are mostly rude and very offensive to Polish people and to quite a few posters on here....... do you actually understand what you write or are you on some sort of drugs or medication ?

O RLY ?

Your bad grammar gives you away.

My English grammar is definately better than your Polish. Anyone, who saw your "translations" would agree with that.

I am certainly not your 'dude'

I know and I know what you are but I tried to be nice.

If you continue to be rude and personal you may get another ban.

Scary...

Having lived in Poland for two years I can safely state that Polish people are not as smart as English or western European people. I have met many a Polish wannabe entrepeuner but unfortunately their ideas fall some what short of the mark. After dealing with highly so called eductaed Poles on a day to day basis it really is a breath of fresh air to have a UK investor visit and generally do business with non Poles to bring me back to reality and restore faith in the EU society.

Polish people are well educated without a doubt, I believe it is brainwashed into them at an early age by thier parents to study, study, study or you will not amount to anything. This is the case in Poland, if you do not have a degree you WILL clean toilets period. On the whole in my opinion English people and certainly Western Europeans are better educated in the cultures of life and not just a university school book on Chopin or Darwins theories of relativity thus creating the drive and ambition required for success in the real world.

Polish kids doing well in the UK school system, of course they will.

Guess who's back, back again? Guess who's back, guess who's back, guess who's back?! A bit of info noimmigration. The value of the pound has dropped. 1 pound is 4.8 złoty now so many Poles are talking about heading home. It was 6.2 złoty in 2005. Cleaning toilets will get them even less now. I did a CPE class yesterday and my student reckons that the British government is actually paying out more than ur figures would suggest. Back to the thread, many Polish kids are sharp, the teachers here say so anyway. I know some personally and they are cluey

it is related to the fact that Polish people are still learning to do bussiness with the Western people. Just because you don't like and have a problem in dealing with Polish bussiness people does not put them into a category of unskilled bussinessmen - there is a culture differance and I know some really smart Polish bussiness people - my sister is one of them and she is doing very well trading with Germans and French - so.....

On the whole in my opinion English people and certainly Western Europeans are better educated in the cultures of life

western type of life - which I think is not a big loss in general for Poland since not all the western values are that good even for westerners;). I would not call a value lack of good manners for eg, which you haven't showned yet, so perhaps the eucation of so called life in general is not that beneficial for you after all.

NO, Polish people are learning on how to make money legitametly instead of lying and cheating their way to an extra few bucks.

Yes the liars and the not so bad liars. I know them too, funny thing is they dont think we know they are lying, we were pulling those tricks before WWI.
