Once a boy meant a black servant. A slave. Didn`t you watch the final scene in Wild Wild West when two guys are hanging on a wheelchair high above the ground, one is black (Will Smith) and gets pissed off when the other calls him boy ???

If you are white, they read your boy as a derogatory expression.

However, when they say it to each other, it has a meaning of a guy, I suppose, in Polish - chłopie - chap, pal.

Thanks for the enlightenment,Pawian. I'll certainly steer clear of any slang I don't understand well.

I would too if I was addressed boy - chłopcze. It sounds rude to me

Funny you'd say that.I often hear Afro people use the term 'boy' amongst themselves like: ''go on boy'',''cool boy?'' etc,etc...but several people have warned me against ever saying 'boy' to an Afro person lest I'd be punched in the mouth? What do the rest on here think?

I agree that this otherwise harmless question's poorly worded. I also think that it's more to do with being trusting whilst seeking something different from the usual,a certain degree of naivity but we all start this way,don't we? The people being referred to are certainly NOT slutty/easy. If only their trust were respected more than abused by all regardless of race,religion. This abuse takes different forms and is certainly not a monopoly of a single race or religion.

There was a referendum 2006 in SO....98 percent for independence!

Let us never forget this referendum was held after 15 years of Russian occupation, during Russian occupation and the so-called neutral observers was so neutral as for example leader of Ukrainian delegation, radical leftist, supporter of former Soviet Union, Nataliya Vitrenko

In other words: it was b**lshit.

Wonder if you'd say the same about Kosovo,you know,NATO bombs the heck out of Serbia,keeps it's forces there and after sometime the Kosovan declare independence and it's promptly recognised by the ''west?"

All this hypocritical noise about Georgia's territorial integrity being respected really sucks. Why is independence good for Kosovo but not for SO and Abkhazia? Why not put this to a refrendum and let the two regions decide for themselves? So much for democracy,or may be it's only democracy when it suits the US administration and it's sycophants?

Don't know whether it's ignorance or sheer misguided bravado that makes you think/believe so. Either way you do so at your own peril. Russia's not weak militarily and as we can all see,atleast those realistic enough to do so it's on the economic rise as well. Spot on Crow. And now Saakashivili's throwing his toys about after slaughtering civilians in SO thereby provoking the wrath of Moscow which's kicking his sorry ar*se. Not surprising either that the so called western media are concentrating on reporting events in Tblis and hardly anything about the humanitarian catastrophe in SO. Bloody pathetic and a disgrace!

Couldn't agree more. Promoting such stuff simply promotes segregation,people'd be treated the same and on merit regardless of their racial,religious,gender background. Period.

This whole missile shield/interceptor issue should,if both the Polish?/Czech gov'ts claim to be democratic and have the ordinary people's interests at heart,be put to a referendum so the majority decide. Cant trust our leaders anymore these days.
