News / Where did the respect for Polish president go? [28]

That is your right but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt in that you conduct yourself with class when presenting the issues you have against these men.

In America is is different, very different. I like to say "never have so many travelled so far on the back of the few."

Love / Polish women are known for their beauty, but men are so ugly (most of).. [250]

what is your point.

Sorry, I must have missed the inside joke. I just get tired of hearing about superficial things (I am not implicating this board). All day long it's beauty, weight, personal possessions, etc... All fading attributes...

Sorry to be so heavy...

Speaking about getting leveled, this sure sounds like a great time to grab a beer.

See ya!!!

History / Polish-German history book for Schools [28]

All the more reason to standardize history books.

Be careful what you wish for.

Hitler was pro-Polish, and desired a strong, independent, anti-Communist Poland. Germany and Poland should have been natural allies, forming a bulwark against bolshevism in Europe, and should have been ideal trading partners.

History / Why we talk about Nazis not Germans [138]

I am always thinking about it. Why we hear about Naiz killing Jews Polish Russians enslaving French Polish Russians as forced laubour in factories - not Germans.

Lukasz,

With all due respect I cannot indict the entire German nation for the acts of barbarians. There were many brave Germans that actively fought against Hitler and paid the ultimate price.

It is for this very reason that I cannot hold ill will towards the German people as a whole.

History / Why we talk about Nazis not Germans [138]

Well...for many Germans he was the saviour! The situation after WWI was downright ****** for many, Hitler promised to make it right again...cut the drama!

Well said...

Remember that the General Staff, specifically Ludwig Beck opposed the expansionist polices of the Third Reich.

His only hope was that events turn against Germany. To his surprise the moves against the Rhineland and Austria were bloodless.

He retired some time in the fall of 1938 having failed to build a case to the people against the aggression shown by Hitler.

News / I support creation of Great Poland [134]

Crow,

I am with you on this one too.

A greater Poland in Europe would be a great thing. Pride in one's country builds strong local communities and overall, a strong nation state. Generally, strong (non belligerent) nation states participate to free market trading. which leads to stronger economies at home.

For example, an initiative by Poland (and Sweden) call for more cooperation (closer ties) with Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Why limit ideas to Brussels?

Blaming technology is nothing more than a crutch. It's all about taking personal responsibility for one's actions.

History / Sarmatia Europe - Could it be political reality? [183]

Its not that all of us Poles are completely crazy and all over the EU. But it seems to be a good thing to be a part of.

What does the EU provide nations that a strong,, respected, and sovereign nation cannot provide for itself?

History / Sarmatia Europe - Could it be political reality? [183]

Actually Germans could made a case for Serbians being the "bane" of Europe...with their Princip assassination being the spark that set the powder keg Europe on fire whose aftermath led to the rise of Hitler....

The blame for Hitler sits squarely on the shoulders of Germany.

News / Candidate of "Hope and Change," Breaks Promise, Leaves Poland Defenseless [47]

z_darius

I do not want to leave Poland in any type of that threatens her sovereignty. If I were President I'd do all I could to forge a binding alliance with Poland. I must admit I am biased toward. Poland :')

NATO's shelf life has expired; the EU is now in place.

If the EU cannot guarantee the security for its member states then the existence of the EU should be questioned.

This is why I believe that Poland should actively seek alliances with other nations on the continent. Serbia, Hungary, Sweden, etc...

Even when Russia illegally banned imports of Polish meats, the EU did not show solidarity to Poland. If Poland was attacked, the EU would probably debate over it for months in Brussels.

Ok, if the EU cannot protect "one of its own" through diplomatic or militaristic channels I'd ask what the advantage is in joining.

The economic negatives of the EUare the sometimes unrealistic demands in the environmental area (Kyoto), labor law, , trade (agricultural subsidies), special exemptions of policy (France/Germany given extensions to meet budget deficit requirements below three percent of GDP to avoid financial sanctions) and taxes.

The citizenry must engage in economic activity and the business sector has to be free to attain a higher level of competitiveness.

I fail to see the need of a centralized body to ensure that rights and freedoms are guaranteedd for all.

If the fear is that sovereignty leads to malevolent leadership thus limiting the freedoms of people, does it not follow that a centralized group of oligarchs have greater power and leverage over those same people?

Life / PATRIOTISM -- POLISH OR OTHERWISE? [23]

When is love for your country and pride in your country's history and culture an extreme?

To be Polish is to be proud; celebrate that freedom and all those who sacrificed their lives to attain it.

History / UPA barbarian murders on Polish and Jewish neighbors during WW2 [150]

I am of both Polish and Ukrainian descent, Christian, born in the USA, and yet, am I responsible for the many bloody wars and conflict that took place between Poland and Ukraine? Absolutely not. I think a partial solution is constructive and honest dialogue between people and nations.

True... As U.S. Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis once said: "Sunlight is the best disinfectant".
